They expect everyone to be generational talents like Brady, Manning, or Mahomes otherwise they're just "game managers."

reminds me of the discussions on the old emb...

My bad. 11 completions is great. What a player. Worth every penny. That 31st ranked passing defense he faced must’ve been a fake stat, they’re way better than that

Do you play Fantasy?  Your takes indicate that you probably do.

I think that was a case of the reporter simply getting it wrong. It looked to me like Hamilton got hit in the gut. I was kinda surprised a few minutes later when she said he went to the locker room for a possible head injury. It didn't make sense.

I’m with you. I thought it was a rib or shoulder injury based off the contact.

Snoozefest game on tonight. But big game on TNF. Need Packers to win.

Eagles fans should be rooting for the Browns. There is a chance of a "strength of victory" tiebreak with the Lions. If so we need all the teams we have beaten to win as many random games as possible.

It's not necessarily something that is likely to happen but it at least gives the game some small degree of importance, I guess.

A flying under the radar RB in this Draft class is the Army QB who will probably last until Day 3 or not get drafted at all.  I would be surprised if he isn’t on Howie’s UDFA radar.

He’s close to top 10 in yards if you include rushing. I know it’ll upset a few old heads in here by bringing that up, but he gets the offense yardage one way or another

Hey, us old heads remember offenses that established the pass with the run and ones lucky enough to have a QB with legs.  Although most of us aren’t old enough to remember the birth of the forward pass.

Allen has been throwing 4k+ since 2020

So, is Allen no longer elite? If not, why not? If so, why is Hurts not elite?

I think we put too much weight onto style points, but this isn't figure skating.

At the stadium, you could see him holding onto his left arm while walking off the field.   On the ground, he was pointing to his left shoulder.

Hurts has thrown for 2,494 yards and 68.4 completion %

Josh Allen has thrown for 2,691 yards and 64.6% completion %

Game managers at work!

Josh Allen doesn't have two of the best receivers in football, a top three OL, the best running back and the number one defense.

Since Hurts became a starter, Allen has 2,239 more total yards and 29 more TDs with no where near the offensive talent around him. Their schedule has also been harder this season.

Your statement was crystal clear … listing the five teams whose passing games were ranked below the Eagles.  It blared, "We are in the bottom quarter of the NFL as a passing offense!” If you weren’t using that stat for that purpose, what purpose were you using it for?

I just explained it in the post you quoted.

Hurts is a talented QB with a very solid contract.  It's dumb to pretend otherwise.

But it's also dumb to pretend that this offense is running as smoothly as it can/should be.  At some point Hurts is going to be asked to put the offense on his shoulders and carry this team, and being mobile and efficient and "doing enough" isn't going to be enough.

I dunno if it's a Hurts thing, or a playcalling/scheme thing, or what.  But it's something that needs to be figured out.

God forbid Saquon gets injured.

Hurts hasn't thrown for 4k yards and I doubt he ever will

There is actually a chance that we end up tied with the Vikings where they likely win SOV tiebreaker.

Those seem to be more the exception though. Also CMC's durability is looking to be ending already

I mean, almost all of the best backs in the NFL changed teams in the last 2 years. That’s not the exception, it’s the rule.

Yeah it seems the days of those QBs are gone, at least for now.

You had QBs throwing for 5,000 plus yards not too long ago.  I was thinking the way the position was going that we'd see a 6,000 yard passer but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.   Defenses have adjusted and aren't letting teams throw all over the field as much.

I mean Burrow throws for a ton of yards but his team keeps losing.

Tua also throws for a ton of yards but his team keeps losing.

Well said.

We are all happy they have been winning, but the Super Bowl is the goal. Richard Sherman said what you did on his podcast that it's great SB is rolling and they are winning, but there is going to come a point in the playoffs where doing enough isn't enough and he is skeptical.

Funny, because my view on Hurts is turning into "what if McNabb had a better work ethic and didn't stop running as much?"

Both are great deep ball throwers, both are built like tanks, and both have unattractive throwing motions. McNabb never seemed to improve at his craft, and he turned away from scrambling because he didn't want to be labeled a running QB. Hurts clearly has weapons McNabb could only dream about, but he also has a work ethic McNabb never seemed to have.

This isn't hating on McNabb, he's one of my all time favorite Eagles. Hurts seems to be a less talented (certainly arm strength) version but with superior work ethic and leadership abilities.

This is why you see safe (not simplified) offense.

I think much of the voters for mvp view Allen as an mvp candidate and hurts is down lower (besides saquon being ridiculous) is cause Allen doesn’t have an aj brown, a saquon or the top offensive line in the league.  If he’s not good or great then the bills are likely not going to win. To Allen’s credit Amari cooper has been banged up or out since getting there. Keon Coleman has been out for 3 weeks now. Shakir and Kincaid have missed time.

hurts is having a good season since he cut back on the turnovers. It really was the thing that was hurting us and himself the most.

That's the thing with the Hurts criticism/hate/doubts or whatever you want to call it.

Hurts has the best team around him.  I just feel fans want more out of him because of that.

Again, right now I have no complaints with him.  We're winning games.  Hes playing good football.  We have an identity and a winning formula.

I just wonder if Barkley gets hurt and he has to pick up some of slack, can he do it?

I do not. If I played fantasy I would be pleased with hurts rushing tds. It would be like having 3 RBs starting as opposed to 2

Agreed. Allen doesn't have the team Hurts does. Not many QBs do. Probably none

One thing I will give Hurts is his mental toughness. McNabb struggled with that.

Bingo. The answer is no. If Barkley went down this team would be in huge trouble.
