Parris Campbell waived. Might be back eventually especially if they sit Devonta Sunday.

I actually have more confidence in Campbell than Smith, Wilson and Dotson.  He made a very nice block on Barkley's TD run.  Wilson can block but can't catch a cold.  Smith can do neither.  They could have put Wilson on IR to buy time.

Either Milton Williams or Josh Sweat must be re-signed.  We can't afford to lose them both next year.

And Baun and Beckton.

Top 5 QB and he is 4-0 over the past two seasons vs the other Top 5 QBs .

Baun is must-sign.  As for Becton he's been great, but we have Tyler Steen who could replace him without much of a drop-off.  Depends on the price.

I think next off-season will be heavy pass rusher. If they make a big signing in free agency it’ll be that and heavy that in the draft. The first rounder will most certainly be that unless some stud OT falls to them that’s graded way higher.

Is this the best Eagles defense of this century?  After the Redskins game I viewed this as the best Eagles defense since 2008 but I think now it's better than any of the Jim Johnson defenses.

Also now the 3-4 year run they are on gotta wonder if this era tops that Andy Reid era of the early 00s although I guess that is majorly dependent on how deep of a run in the playoffs they can make.

I think it depends what Becton wants. He’d be lowest on my totem pole of importance.

If I can only keep 2 of Milton, Baun, Sweat and Becton - I'm going with Milton and Baun.

I might prioritize Becton over Williams/Sweat.

Becton is a unicorn as far as size and movement combination. Our entire offense is built around the OL, so I want to keep that together. Becton might be able to replace Lane eventually, which saves us draft capital.

I also think replacing DL is going to be easier to do through committee. You can throw some draft picks and vet free agent signings against a wall, and as long as you have Carter I think you can manufacture production.

Plus a lot of people forget they are more than likely going to extend Jurgens. They don’t HAVE to but it would be very surprising if they waited on it and made him play out a contract year.

Hurts hasn't thrown for 4k yards and I doubt he ever will

Not what I asked.

Lost in all the big deep discussions, is that the Eagles came out balling wearing, as Merrill calls them, "their slow green pants".   This is a team of destiny.

We've been playing with leads, but this is still remarkable. The Hurts hate is getting ridiculous at this point.

Now do the first quarter

Plateaued? Highest YPA of his career. Highest completion percentage. Interceptions down. Looks like improvement to me.

Finally some common sense about Hurts.  I have always seen a hard worker that is willing to learn.  I think they transitioned from a teacher that focused on mechanics in coaching the position to one that is teaching him the cerebral part of football.  He’s shown marked improvement on his reaction to pressure, his willingness to look to his checkdowns (and provide him with such) and when he is pressured to avoid hero ball and throw it away.  I think a lot of that is Hurts learning.  After Wentz’s acknowledgment of his faults every week but doing nothing to fix them, this is refreshing.

When Nick first arrived, he talked about playing to a players strengths.  He also talked about players who loved ball.  I kind of wonder which of the coaches brought the new approach of  helping to expand the individuals skill sets.   I suspect that’s the set of Moore and Nussmeier.

Folks are afraid of losing Moore with good reason but part of that should be the fear of losing Nussmeier.

I'll just make it simple for you and end whatever point you were trying to make. I do believe Allen is better than Hurts

I’d go Becton and Baun as they play all the snaps - you can work DEs and DTs into the rotation (e.g., we survived losing Hargrave and Reddick by drafting well).

Most importantly, this team can identify them... finding LBs is much more difficult for this team.

Finding OL also is much easier for this team, which puts Becton on the maybe pile... BUT, Becton is also a unicorn type and only 25.  Do you let that walk?

But, currently, their OL is made up of 1st and 2nd round picks... and the unicorn of unicorns in Mailata.  Do they continue to invest that level along the OL?  DL is also a lot of first round picks... but have mixed in some middle rounders in Williams (3rd) and Sweat (5th, iirc).    Maybe DL is actually the easier to replace... especially with the rotation.

Forget who it was who covers the team I heard say they think Becton would take less to stay because he loves it here, he finally found a coach to develop him and he feels grateful the Eagles gave him a chance to resurrect his career.

Hurts isn't a good combo with any OC. That's why they all get fired. The common denominator in all the failing is him.

2022 OC wasn't fired, he left with Peterson

2023 OC wasn't fired he left to be the head coach of the Colts

2024 OC hasn't been fired yet

He's had 3 OCs. The first one became a head coach. The second was fired. The third is his current OC.

4 if you count his rookie season
