Is this the best Eagles defense of this century?  After the Redskins game I viewed this as the best Eagles defense since 2008 but I think now it's better than any of the Jim Johnson defenses.

Also now the 3-4 year run they are on gotta wonder if this era tops that Andy Reid era of the early 00s although I guess that is majorly dependent on how deep of a run in the playoffs they can make.

And yet before the bye people were ready to fire Sirianni into the Sun.

Again.. how would I be the one mad? No one thinks Hurts is perfect but you just troll constantly. Doesn't that get exhausting?

Never trolling.  Just correcting people who are wrong.

The Eagles are only ahead of Carolina, New England, Tennessee and the Giants in passing.

He is unquestionably a game manager

It’s pretty sad how many fans are still fixated on yards in a particular category?  Efficiency is so much more important than yards…and it’s not even close.  But whatever…carry on

Another way of saying this is reminding people you are right.

Hurts is not a great passing QB, but his teams win.  Blowouts, close games, come from behind.  11 completions is frustrating.  Not getting Brown in mismatches by moving him pre-snap is also frustrating. Eagles continue to have the most predictable,  easy to cover pass patterns.  I thought our OC was a pre-snap genius that was going to scheme guys open and get mismatches.   It ain't happening. There are many pass plays where nobody is even remotely open because the defense knows what is coming and doesn't have to make any pre-snap adjustments.

Thats what all the crybabies say when someone doesnt agree with their bad takes.

Funny, because my view on Hurts is turning into "what if McNabb had a better work ethic and didn't stop running as much?"

Both are great deep ball throwers, both are built like tanks, and both have unattractive throwing motions. McNabb never seemed to improve at his craft, and he turned away from scrambling because he didn't want to be labeled a running QB. Hurts clearly has weapons McNabb could only dream about, but he also has a work ethic McNabb never seemed to have.

This isn't hating on McNabb, he's one of my all time favorite Eagles. Hurts seems to be a less talented (certainly arm strength) version but with superior work ethic and leadership abilities.

Worms are safer with Hurts.

Again, no one is saying he's not efficient in what he's being asked to do. Im pointing out that we are near the bottom of the league in passing yards because we are taking the ball out of Hurts hands while leaning heavily on the run game and defense.

I'll say it again:

The bread and butter of the team isn't Hurts slinging the ball up and down the field. It's running and defense. It has nothing to do with his overall efficiency.

I don't know what about that is confusing to people.

when youve got nothing, you just resort to name calling. Another W for me.

When we had Mack Hollins did he dress like a cotton swab and walk around barefoot in the snow?

Probably doesn’t want to open himself up to legal problems. He doesn’t need anyone searching the bottom of the Delaware River.

The 26 total TDs are a bit misleading though if we're being objectively honest.  How many of those were brotherly shove TDs from the 1? Like 9? A lot of those came with heavy lifting on the rest of the drives by Barkley.  I'm not even a Hurts hater, just saying it is what it is.  Since the play is so effective of course they use it at the 1 yard line so often.

All I am hoping for this game is some more epic Winston interviews.  Dude cracks me up!

And yeah I thought Bo Nix would be one of the best Qbs of this class.  He is playing some good ball

It’s an argument, but they’re still worth the same. Had Hurts thrown 1 yard HB options to Barkley instead and ended up with the same TD total, they aren’t suddenly better TDs

If the team passed down the field, then the RB ran in a TD from the 1, we would not put an asterisk on the TD.

RBs get credit for all purpose yards. QBs get credit on their pass yards that includes YAC that could be from a short screen or short slant.

The only time people want exceptions, dismiss certain stats or spin this way is to downplay rushing stats by a QB.

If he did that, they'd say those don't count either because they’re 1 yard passes from the goal line. They'll always find some spin.

Damn. Genuinely surprised. Hurts' is having a darn good season, and that's with AJ and Smitty missing time.

He's overshadowed by Barkley, but no shame in that.

no. I mean like name calling that isnt true.

I'll just make it simple for you and end whatever point you were trying to make. I do believe Allen is better than Hurts

And my question remains, on what is this based? Is it production? Prettier passes? Profile? By the most basic of criteria Hurts has been better this year.

Style points do not outweigh production, IMHO.

I am not saying Hurts is better. I’m saying by what metric do you see Allen as better? Belief is a slim reed.
