Why are commentators saying we have a harder schedule than the Lions?

12 November 24 1:00 p.m. at Indianapolis Colts     Lucas Oil Stadium Fox
13 November 28 12:30 p.m. Chicago Bears     Ford Field CBS
14 December 5 8:15 p.m. Green Bay Packers     Ford Field Prime Video
15 December 15 4:25 p.m. Buffalo Bills     Ford Field CBS
16 December 22 1:00 p.m. at Chicago Bears     Soldier Field Fox
17 December 30 8:15 p.m. at San Francisco 49ers     Levi's Stadium ESPN/ABC
18 January 4/5 TBD Minnesota Vikings     Ford Field TBD

Indy is in the playoff chase.  Packers are in the Division chase only behind 2 games.   Bills are the Bills.  49ers will be fighting for their Division or Wild Card. Minny is on their bumper. Two Chicago games are still Division games.   Meanwhile This iis the Birds final schedule:

12 November 24 8:20 p.m. at Los Angeles Rams     SoFi Stadium NBC
13 December 1 4:25 p.m. at Baltimore Ravens     M&T Bank Stadium CBS
14 December 8 1:00 p.m. Carolina Panthers     Lincoln Financial Field Fox
15 December 15 4:25 p.m. Pittsburgh Steelers     Lincoln Financial Field Fox
16 December 22 1:00 p.m. at Washington Commanders     Northwest Stadium Fox
17 December 29 4:25 p.m. Dallas Cowboys     Lincoln Financial Field Fox
18 January 4/5 TBD New York Giants     Lincoln Financial Field TBD

Yes the Ravens and Steelers are definitely nothing to sneeze at.  Also the Rams and Commanders aren't playing that bad.  But I believe they can beat each of these teams especially since most of these games will be at Home. Will they? We'll see but I believe 13 Wins will get the #1 Seed this year.

Bills are really their only difficult game.

Per Next Gen Stats, Barkley is the most efficient runner in the NFL.  He has the highest percentage of his actual distance traveled going North/South.

Efficiency (EFF)
Rushing efficiency is calculated by taking the total distance a player traveled on rushing plays as a ball carrier according to Next Gen Stats (measured in yards) per rushing yards gained. The lower the number, the more of a North/South runner.

Every time I watch Detroit’s defense I am unimpressed. They can be had. If we get them in Philly we aren’t losing that game.

It helps a ton that he's not touched for 4yds. Arguably the best RB and he's also got the best Oline

I am curious on if this changes Howie/Lurie's philosophy on RBs

@just relax and others.  If you have The Athletic, read Ted Nguyen’s article on the resurgence of the Wing T in modern NFL offenses.  He is one of my favorite football writers at this point in time.  I think that Moore is trying to incorporate that into the playbook with primarily Dotson or Ainias Smith in the wing role.  Eagles Wing T fits better with the traditional because in the Wing T the QB is a runnng threat.  The key to it is the deception and play action that goes with the movement.

This is why I liked the Moore hire.  He’s a bit like AR in studying all sorts of offensive plays and incorporating them.

Thanks for guiding me to that article. I used to love watching Delaware when Dave Nelson and Tubby Raymond were there. That offense was such fun. The uniforms helped too. 😄The few teams that could stop or at least slow it down had an interesting approach in their preparation: the scout team ran without the tackles, because the key to stopping the run was to follow the guards. A lot of the motion is eye candy but the guards always led you to the ball. The Eagles run some variants but Stoutland and Moore added another wrinkle, running away from the guards. I posted a couple of plays recently where in the first one the right side pulls to the left, the defense follows, but Saquon went left to right against the OL flow. Two plays later they ran the same action but Hurts kept and, as you said, trucked the DB while scoring. Another variation is to line up a TE as a wing, pull the guard from that side and have the TE follow so they bring an extra blocker to the play side. That’s got to be Stoutland. He and Moore are really meshing well.

Texans blowing that Lions game is so awful.  Need someway for the Lions to manage loosing two more games and hope Eagles run the table because I don't see anyway a team goes into Detroit and wins in the playoffs.  Onoy hope is to get Goff outside in late January.  Even then it's be q long shot.  They are so clearly the best team in the league and probably the best team the league has seen in awhile.

My hope with beating Detroit is that defense and a running game travel.  We have to hope they have 2 more losses as they have a tiebreaker if they just have one more loss.

Who cares. You want them to stop scoring? Stop them. Not Campbell’s job to make the loss look better in order to help preserve Doug’s job.

Right. I’ve told this story before. Lou Holtz was a young head coach playing Florida State and FSU beat them by 40+. When the coaches shook hands on the field after the game Holtz said to Bobby Bowden, "Why did you run up the score, coach?” To which Bowden replied, "It’s not my job to keep my team from scoring; it’s yours.”

I'm sure all you tough guys wouldn't have had a problem had one of the Jaguars snapped Goffs leg in half during the 4th quarter

I don't have a big problem with the Lions running up the score.  They haven't won a title since about 1957 and have been generally a terrible franchise over most of the past 60 years.  Part of learning how to be a dominant team is experiencing how to win big.  Better to beat a team like JAX 52-6 than play to their level, as the Eagles nearly did.

Dan Campbell really is a classless piece of ish. That may have been Doug's final game as a HC, and he's got Goff throwing TDs in the 4h quarter when the Lions are up by 36. Just a truly despicable move to embarrass a guy who by all accounts is well liked in the league.

Tbh I have less issues with them going for the touchdown with his starters out there in the fourth quarter. My bigger thing was you were up 30 points and it was a 4th and 2 at the 14. At that point there was a quarter left in the game. I feel like most coaches up 30 are kicking the field goal. Then again Campbell played with the lions when teams destroyed them so i think part of this is payback for what he endured

that said when Ben Johnson leaves to take a HC job, I’m curious how good this lions team is. I still think they’ll be good due to roster but i wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a drop off due to losing him.

I would rather the Lions win it all than almost any other team in the NFL.  As flawed as Goff can be, they would not have a chance if he gets hurt.

Which tiebreaker do they hold?

I have some friends who are long-time Lions fans.   I have a great deal of respect for them for their longsuffering and continued support.    That fanbase deserves a taste.  So, for me, if its not the Eagles this year... I hope it is the Lions.

The Shadeur Sanders watch is on in NYG land.

Prime replacing Dabol could be a biproduct of that scenario

Get ready.  NYC and Sanders are made for each other.  He is an excellent pro prospect.   Nabers probably begged for the QB change so they can lose all their remaining games and hopefully pick 1st overall.

Sanders has not had a hard time accepting blame and dealing with criticisim.  He's going to face fare more criticism in the NY media market.  His dad is also likely to be highly protective and controlling. Ultimately his dad's influence will negatively impact his relationship with the team.

I anticipate Deion will orchestrate a reverse Eli and make it clear that Shadeur won't sign with the Giants if they draft him.

Unless he is the Giants HC.

It was a drive they started in the 3rd quarter, on their own 4 yard line. I'm sure they wanted to see the offense finish the drive and Jacksonville gave up 2 20+ yard catches on there.

Since we lost two NFC games, they've got Conference Record tiebreaker by one game.

Beyond that, it could get crazy.  The next tiebreaker is common games, and we both lost to TB and they don't play the Falcons.

Then it would go to Strength of Victory, which could change based on their next loss.

See that’s why I didn’t mind their last touchdown drive. The drive before they were up 30 points and got into a 4th and 2 at the 14. Really you don’t have to go for it on 4th down at that point. Just kick the field goal and go up even more. To me that’s more disrespectful

Where were these complains when they did it against the cowboys?

Seems like an over reaction

im sure they were putting stuff on tape but the Jags players are the ones that got embarrassed. They flat out quit

It changed once they decided to offer him a contract.  Still don't think you will ever see a 1st round pick on an RB, but they will pay for one.

It was classless then too. Coaches have a long memory. I hope when Campbell's on his last legs, someone curb stomps him.

You're up 42-6 and pick off a pass with just over 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. It's a 5 score lead and you send your starting offense out there. In 9 plays you throw it 5 times, including for a TD. Beyond being classless, it's just dumb and reckless to risk injuries to your starters in a 5 score game.

If Nick put our starters back out in that situation, and risked injury, just to run up the score in a non-conference game? I'd call for him to be fired. It's classless and stupid.
