And that's game over.

If that's supposed to be a throw to Devonta, then I have zero idea what Johnny Wilson is doing because he doesn't try to block. The route distribution makes no sense.

That's true.  Maybe he's trying to make his defender go with him to keep him out of the play.

But that's a good question.

I wonder how much of the so called miscommunication and confusion in the passing game is from Moorehead.  He sucks as a WR coach.

Exactly I'm out. Nfl gets less fun each year.

Not sure they haven’t gotten the ball back yet after that next play where he was forced to sit out.

The games really aren’t going to matter much after next week.  If we enter the DC/DAL/NY stretch with the Lions still at 1 loss…then maybe you make a couple tweaks in the passing game.

One benefit to being a run dominant team is that running games, unlike a pass attack, are less dependent on rhythms and streaks.  The pass attack can be fragile.  The only fragility in the running game is health.  So they can go away from the run and come right back to it in the playoffs.

Go back to the lab.  Pretend that Barkley isn’t available.  Prepare for a disaster scenario where he leaves a playoff game in which you are down a score.  Is that a death sentence if your starting RB leaves a playoff game?  Get Hurts to throw it 35 times.  Re-connect and re-learn moving the offense through your 2 first round pick and $150m+ WR investments.

Maybe you rediscover some aerial mojo and you enter the playoffs with teams not having any clue what to game plan to stop.  Or maybe it’s ugly, Hurts throws 5 picks in 3 weeks, and teams know what they already know…stack the box and hang on for dear life against Barkley while daring Hurts to beat you with his arm.  But that’s where we are now anyway.

Is it too early to start resting guys like Bark & Hurts? I don't mean for full games, I just mean at some point should they start getting less reps? I'm thinking if we win the next 2, we should start giving them some rest.

Time to really start rooting for Atlanta wins/Commander losses. The best possible matchup for us in the 2 vs. 7. Really want that rematch.

Might be in the minority here, but I want Hurts running if he can get N-S. His best value to the team is his place in the run game and his deep passes outside the hashes. Whether that's what you want out of QB1 is an off-season discussion; Eagles can win the rest of the way if Hurts plays to his strengths.

We've now allowed fewer pts than the Steelers and Vikings. That's crazy.

I always like to think about the long term future, so you all will think it’s perverse, but I’ve been wrestling with how exactly they are going to replace what Barkley has done for the offense…they now depend on this.

What’s so rare with Barkley is how many things he does so well.  AP, for instance, was big, physical, and fast.  But he wasn’t really a quickness/moves kind of RB.  McCoy…the opposite…he could string together moves with the best of them.  But he wasn’t the type to run over people or run past them when finishing runs.

Barkley…he’s got incredible power to dust off 1-2 tacklers in space, the deep speed to outrun anyone and turn 15 yard runs into 40 yard finisher TD runs…and he can string together all kinds of maddenesque moves to get himself into space for more daylight.

Enjoy this while it lasts, because there won’t be another.

Interesting to see how the Steelers defense holds up the last 4 weeks of the year. Have at Philly, at Baltimore, vs. KC and vs. bengals.

They won’t start resting guys until the are mathematically eliminated from 1 seed contention.

Did they really lose anything?

If the Eagles and Lions both win…

They should play starters against commanders and cowboys.  But there should be no Hurts physical runs into contact, no heavy Barkley usage.  Lighter snaps for Carter.

And no one plays against the Giants.

Should. Yes. Barkley should have also had less than 20 carries against one of the worst rush defenses too. I don’t think they will though when the games matter and when we can’t seem to pull away like today.

yeah, that makes sense. I guess they haven't been winning convincingly enough to consider pulling starters.

Premise: Both Hurts and Moore were bad overall today.

But this is the play I want to highlight.

Drive 2, play. 2nd & 4. 8th total play of the game.

Look at what Carolina is doing (what they did all game) by playing the CBs 10 yards deep. Hurts sees this and tries to throw to... no one?

I don't know who is at fault there. But something is broken, because Moore-Sirianni/Hurts are just not working together and I don't know how to fix that.

Did we even run a play-action under center run today?

I mean, he could've changed the play to a pass, but when you have the DBs hanging that far back, running isn't a bad idea. You can see the OL is run blocking so if he throws it's going to be a penalty.

I’ve ranked Hurts somewhere in the 10-12 range as an NFL QB, but that’s in a vacuum.  Other folks are right to point out he has a stacked offense around him and the team needs to expect more from him.  These first quarters with 0 points week after week after week is now to the point of purely unacceptable.

The coaches need to start leaning on Hurts to start games properly; tell him 14 points in the first quarter is the expectation — especially if they start with the football.  You’ve got the league’s best RB and two of the league’s best WRs, this isn’t rocket science.  7 in the box — pound the football all the way down the field.  8 in the box, your two WR1 are in single coverage — let the ball go.

Helps their quest for the top pick so it’s more of a win.

The double edged sword they’re facing is that the bye is extremely valuable. They need to continue fighting for it as long as the chance is still there. That hypothetical NFC Championship game needs to be in Philly not Detroit to get Goff out of the dome.  The problem is that it’s going to take constant usage of Barkley to get that done. So even if they end up with the bye, at what cost is it worth it if he’s burned out by the end of the season?

There is a scenario where they can lock the 2 seed up and go into the last two weeks with him on a limited workload and off week 18. That’s not a bad consolation.

On that play smith was wide open for an easy pitch and catch for a first down. Jalen looks right at him and pulls it down. This was before any olineman got outside of a 1 yard down field.

It's a designed run play lol. Either he keeps it or gives it to Barkley.

Chargers offense is so bad.
