I guess he is counting on winning a WS with the Mets...he would likely win a few with the Yankees...not the I like them, but I would give up $5 mill for a few rings. It all comes back to the same question with pro athlete salaries, "How much is enough?".

It's not the money it's the length. He will make 200-250 million after he retires at 36 or 37.

So I guess by 2030 we’ll have our first billion dollar contract…

I think the Eagles will play much better against the Steelers than the Panthers. Especially defensively. And the defense wasn't even bad vs the Panthers but I expect it to be lights out vs the Steelers. Please show a little something different in the passing game though. Something. I'm sick of the same Fing BS every week.

I agree past something crazy like teams having a book on the offense now or Coop on the other side.

It's hard to get up for every game and last year they would have lost this. Being humbled can be a good thing so well see how they respond.

They probably can't show much else in the passing game with a QB who can't see the field and make quick decisions...and also takes stupid sacks every week. The only concerning things today past that were obviously the kicker and then the reports of discontent in the locker room.

Russ always plays well vs the Eagles. At least he did in Seattle.

You are assuming baker mayfield plays well in a Snowstorm and can make some of the plays Allen did in that game. Also give them that win they likely aren’t beating Miami if Tua doesn’t get knocked out without Allen and that was a 3+. Also Seattle game looks much different without Josh Allen. I think you’re also ignoring the fact that Josh Allen makes a lot of those guys on that offense look better simply because of how good he is and how teams have to defend him. It’s much easier to come up with a game plan against Baker Mayfield with weapons of James Cook, Amari Cooper and Dalton Kincaid along with a defense at the bottom half in the league against the run and frankly overrated when they play good quarterbacks.

But that’s much closer to reality than the hypothetical that Josh Allen is dragging the worst or close to the worst team in the NFL (2-4 wins, was it?) to 10-3

We will, but it won't be baseball. It'll be James Franklin to the NFL.

Josh Allen is the best quarterback playing the game right now and his weapons are nowhere near what baker had prior to Godwin and Evans getting hurt when Baker was playing at his peak. Baker Mayfield peak so far this season was with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans were both playing. That’s two top 10 potential WRs. Arguably top 5 receiving corps. Prior to losing Godwin for the year and Evans for multiple weeks, he had 18 tds and 7 ints and 107 Qb rating (7 games). Since then ( 6 games) he’s got 10 tds and 6 ints (8 total turnovers) and. 94 qb rating. Some of that is thanks to playing the giants, panthers and raiders 3 consecutive weeks (heck even that stretch he’s had 6 turnovers)

Mayfield was 0-3 without Evans and Godwin so he was going to have a ton of success with Coleman, hollins, Kincaid and Shakir who were Allen’s top receiving weapons for half the year to they got cooper who’s been injured and missed time? He has 7 wins playing in the worst division in the nfc with Tampa bay has according to team rankings having the 18th toughest schedule so far thru 14 weeks (by season’s end it’s going to be in the 20s). Meanwhile Buffalo has had the 8th toughest so far. baker finishes with at chargers, at cowboys, vs  panthers and vs saints. With Evans back, Irving being as good as he is running and otton they should go at least go 3-1.

let me just point something out, Josh Allen has them at 10-3. Amari Cooper didn’t get traded there til midseason. He also missed 2 weeks after getting there and really 3 cause he left early the week prior to missing those two. His top WRs until they traded for cooper was shakir, Mack hollins and Keon Coleman. Coleman was a rookie. Not good at the start of the year and Shakir basically no one knew about til this year with Allen. Hollins is a 4th wr. Meanwhile Coleman has missed 4 games as a rookie. Shakir missed two games. James cook missed a week. Kincaid has missed 3 games. Cooper missed essentially 3 and acclimating midseason.

So maybe they wouldn’t be at 3 wins with baker. But don’t see them at 8 or 9 wins either. i don’t see them as some playoff team if you just replace Allen with baker. They are likely between 4-7 wins. And frankly i think 7 is pie in the sky thinking.

It would be kinda crazy though if he ended the Eagles winning streak again at 9 games. He did in 2017, if history repeats itself like that I would hope it also means the season ends the same way that one did, with a Lombardi trophy.

Eagles are taking sacks on 9% of their pass plays, that is 30thin the NFL and the only two teams worse are the bears and titans, two teams with awful OLs. The Eagles with their d dominant OLs should not be getting sacked at close to a 10% rate.

This passing offense is completely broken.

I think bringing Saquon in was their way of accepting Hurts' limitations and committing to building the offense around his strengths.  This is his 5th year in the league, so we pretty much know what he is - a rugged playmaker who thrives in short yardage and uncorks a surprisingly good deep ball, but struggles to consistently distribute the ball to the middle of the field from the pocket.  It just so happens that we also have two of the best pass blocking tackles in the NFL and a pair of all-pro caliber wide outs, which makes it seem (sometimes rightfully so) like they're going to waste.

Suffice to say, my suspicion is that a lot of these sacks are a result of them hunting the big play, since in theory the success they've had on the ground should open up some opportunities for Smith and AJ downfield.  What I think they might be underestimating is just how committed the modern defense is to limiting the big play.  Not to mention, most of defenses they're going against are completely overmatched from a personnel standpoint.  Their best bet is to hope the Eagles get greedy and start forcing things that aren't there.  It's a test in discipline that the receivers are going to have to pass all season if they're serious about winning.

Maybe but then why pay AJ and DeVonta? They gave them some pretty big contracts there but why do that if you are going to be so limited in the passing game?

Every week they look average. Every week they have struggles. And every damn well they find a way to win and their collapse doesn’t happen.

The numbers don’t make it look that way but the panthers were really effective running the ball at times in this game. Particularly early in the game when Hubbard had close to 6.1 yards per carry. It eventually helped open things up in the pass game and thielen feasted.

Stopping the run on a consistent basis is an absolute necessity. First and foremost. If our D does that, then it will be difficult for the opposition to go on these long, time consuming drives. It all starts with stopping run, which they didn’t do a good job on against the Panthers, especially in the first half.

Yeah very and very fair point. This team really struggled in the first half to stop the run. In fact nearing halftime I think Chubbard had more yards than Barkley. How often has that happened this year? Not very often I’m sure.

Looking back at yesterday… We got the win and ended up clinching a playoff spot. I think that puts us in a position to clinch the division next week? And potentially the #2 seed the week after (results going our way). The team didn’t play well but they got the win. But they need to fix this offense. They need to find a way to get Jalen more comfortable in the passing game. Can they do that? I think so as we’ve seen it before. I’m not suggesting they can make Jalen an elite pocket passer but they don’t really need to. They just need to settle him down a bit and find a little bit more in the passing game.

They did struggle mightily in stopping Chubbard in the first half. It got better in the 2nd half, but they’ve definitely played better than yesterday.

I’ve been very impressed with the defensive performance since the bye week. It seems that something clicked and their tackling has been quite good. That wasn’t the case yesterday IMO, even though they held them to just 16 points. I hope it was just due to a bad game and taking the Panthers O too lightly.

The offensive inefficiency for long stretches in games, especially at the beginning of games, can also have a bad effect on the defense. They are out there a lot and guys like Carter are getting a lot of snaps. Hopefully they won’t be worn out by the time the playoffs start. The D has done their job for most of the year, can’t really say the same for the offense, with the exception of Barkley and the O-line blocking for him. It hardly ever looks easy, unless they run the ball. I just don’t get it why Hurts is not capable of taking what the defense gives him (short passing game when the DB’s are giving 8 yard cushions). Take easy yards and then hit them long when they overcommit to the short passing game.

Unfortunately I don’t think any of us quite get it or understand it… And yet this has been an issue for so long now that I’m not sure it is going to change? When a QB is struggling usually the easy thing to do is give him those quick short completions right? Give him the easy throws to get him back in to a rhythm and build them back up. But that just doesn’t seem to work for Hurts because he seems incapable of reading and executing those plays.

Yesterday was just a rough game for the offense, Hurts wasn't good and to be honest there were more than a few snaps when Becton was a liability in pass protection too, it was a bad day at the office, for all the ****ing about the passing game AJ is still pacing for 1100 yards off 13 games.

The defense had their worst game in a while too, they've been shutting teams down second half since the bye but didn't this time, Dejean got a good learning game going against a vet like Thielen.

Good teams win even when they aren't playing well, that was what the Eagles did Yesterday.

We're in the midst of our longest win streak since 2017 and joint longest ever, the fact is the numbers say we're due a loss. This board will be utterly f'ing unbearable if it happens.
