It feels like there should be some really easy wins there in the pass game and yet there isn’t. And a number of us have said so many times that you watch other teams and there’s always easy completions with guys wide open. All of our passes are either a great deep ball (and catch) or a broken play.

Facts.... I was waiting for them to come back to similar routes that Thielen was running where he ends up with a crosser on the opposite side of the field where he started but that rarely happens. There were a few where AJ would be wide open but they break the route upfield for whatever reason.

Super lesson yesterday for DeJean.  Just what he needed at this point in his development.  He won't get torn up again like he did yesterday.

On that long pass, the out and up from Thielen, I swear....one of the defensive lineman was literally getting tackled going after Young.  Anyone that can find photographic proof would be greatly appreciated!

Hurts misses wide open throws constantly, is gun shy and gets happy feet in the pocket.

Scheming guys open does happen, we just don't take advantage of it

Scheming guys open is very rare for this offense.

Can someone explain to me why we aren't spamming AJ slants/crosses etc and Barkley to start games? Am I missing something. AJ should have a number of designed targets in opening drives. Help me. What am I missing?

It's an automatic 7+ yards with the AJ slant. He's a bully. It makes no sense.

Really? I see AJ Brown and Smith wide open repeatedly. Both were on a play just yesterday that Hurts missed.

Just because Hurts can't read the field doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Hurts and Moore were both off yesterday.  It's like Superman refusing to use his super powers to fight crime. Just run the ball early and demoralize these garbage teams, then we can throw it all you want or let Gainwell and Shipley get carries.

In terms of the defense, some bad habits re-emerged: poor tackling, giving up contain, undisciplined pass rush.  Makes me think another bye is very important, either in the playoffs or week 18.

The tipped pass reception on 3rd down at the goal line was pure luck. Annoying.

The 3rd and 11 from inside the end zone, where Sweat has Young dead to rights and basically comes up with a handful of jersey, then Slay can't get more than 2 inches off the ground to bat the ball away....beyond annoying.

Two plays that stood out to me and make me ask questions. The TD pass to Tremble vs. nearly the same play the Eagles ran to DeVonta. TE scores easily, DeVonta gets minimal gain. Was it the defense or the way the plays were ran that made the difference? I know they weren't 100% the same play, but they were the same concepts. You'd think your Heisman winning WR would score just as easily as their TE did.

Thielen clearly won that battle yesterday.

He’s a former all-pro player. The defense held them to just 16 points

Just want to point out that 2 years ago, when the Eagles had Cameron Dicker, I suggested they keep him and move on from Jake. I thought it made sense based on salary, age and Dicker's potential. Everyone laughed at me. Dicker is now sitting at 94% FG for his career and currently 8 for 9 from 50+ this year. Jake in the 3 years since has been 87% 93% and now 75% while going 0 for 5 from 50+.

Really bad timing for AJ to start sulking and spouting off publicly in the middle of a nine game winning streak.  Yes he was open several times yesterday and Hurts didn't get him the ball but you'd like AJ to keep that frustration in the locker room.  Something Nick has to deal with right away.

Nah. Let him call out that scumbag qb

They really need to do something about all of these DPI calls. It’s degrading the game.

If it’s an under throw by the QB, DPI should not be called if the defender doesn’t grab.

AJ is 100% right to sulk. Was at the game yesterday in S230. Hurts won’t throw him the ball unless he’s 5 yds open. If I can see it you damn well know the coaches see it when reviewing tape. He’s afraid to throw anything that isn’t wide open over the middle, which rarely happens in this league. There’s no way they can compete in a shootout with him mentally hampered like this.

Meh. Elliott was a top 5 kicker in the NFL last year or close and although I liked Dicker, no way could you cut Elliott back then for Dicker

Yeah, a perfect person to teach DeJean a lesson.

Even Devonta was gripping about the passing game

I'm saying he should keep that stuff in the locker room

He was, and I'm not saying I saw this coming. No one did. It was just me playing the roster analytics game at the time and I thought it made sense to keep the younger, cheaper kicker.

The Tremble play caught CGJ flat footed out of the bunch. The Smitty play was a jet motion and the defender was running pre-snap with him across the formation a la Dejean v Chase iirc.

Yikes

As my salty old chem prof used to say…experience and treachery will overcome youth and talent

Oh man I just turned on WIP. You’d think this team is 2-11

Of course. He isn’t in shape.

And that’s the worrying thing here… Hurts isn’t making those plays and like we saw yesterday it is leading to frustrations with the WRs. That could lead to problems as the games get more important and tougher.

Hurts passing is an issue. 118 yards in Baltimore against a the 30th? ranked passing D and then 108 against a 3-9 team.

He wins more games than he loses, he picks up big plays in crucial moments scrambling, his turnover trend from last season into the beginning of this season as been reversed.  All of this is true, but none of it eliminates that he is a poor passing QB this season.  Really bad, actually.  Yesterday there were about 250 yards available to him if he makes easy throws.  More if he would throw downfield - which has completely been removed from the passing game recently.
