All CAN be true....but they are not.  There are enough open receivers and clean pockets for a quarterback to be more productive in this offense.  Period.  Deal with it.

Again, I never said Hurts doesn't deserve criticism.  He does.  He needs to play better. But this myopic view that it is ALL his fault is laughable.

Meanwhile, the former mediocre white QBs are having a great morning. Orlovosky going off saying the Rams offense can't be stopped and they can go to the Super Bowl. Anyone know if a defense went into LA and held them to 14 points before garbage time recently? I'm guessing Chase Daniels is embarrassing himself again.

I was specifically just going to the last drive. I’d agree with you about the other parts of the game. But that last drive they had chances prior to that legette drop to make a play and get off the field. I think if legette makes that catch we are feeling much different about the defense today after they’d have gone 98 yards in 2 mins and probably having more flashbacks to earlier in the season where Atlanta just marched down the field at ease with the game on the line and like last year with Seattle/az.

to the second part, I am 100% agree. I said it a couple weeks after the bye when they got rolling. I would be very surprised if the Eagles do not acquire a big-time pass rusher in some capacity. You can see that if this team had that guy this defense it can achieve another level which is pretty amazing considering since the bye they’ve been a top 3 defense

Sweat missing on that safety, and Slay not getting up to intercept the pass on that play, was brutal. I thought for sure Slay would at least deflect it.

FWIW, I didn't perceive AJ's comments as being directed at Jalen. It felt more like an overall comment, and if anything directed at coaching. Jalen also seemed to cut his PC short. Feels like they all want it opened up a little more. But I don't think there are issues among Jalen, AJ and Smitty.

Big week for Nick and Kellen. They are going to come out targeting AJ and Smitty early against Pittsburgh I bet.

I agree that AJ's statement is obviously going to get blown out of proportion by the media, but I think they need to work on the playcalling  in these opening series.   Also when Jalen was being a "Gunslinger" some was saying he was being reckless and causing turnovers. Now he's playing efficient turnover free football and he's not passing enough.   I know there a happy medium somewhere in there.  I just feel there need to be some quick and easy passes to start these drives.  But yes AJ needs to get involved earlier.  Remember the last time we played the Steelers, AJ went off.

No whammies no whammies no whammies

Well, they won the game.  There’s not much fault to go around.  The fact that it was an ugly win instead of a coasting one is almost entirely his fault.

Against Atlanta, it was week two.  The secondary still hadn't jelled.  Maddox, not DeJean, was on the field.  That defense doesn't exist anymore.

Yesterday was very different. They got away from their own goal line on a broken play.  Young was saving plays with his legs.  It wasn't an abject failure in coverage.

Given that we need to get this passing offense out of a funk, I would we have a 80-20 pass-run ratio vs. Pitt. Win or lose, get the passing game back on track. Throw your way out of it.

Never said all.  Just pushing back on your notion that he is "just part" of the problem.  He is the majority of problem.

I'd come out and run tempo from the jump against the Steelers. Jalen seems most confident when they get on the ball, he can make a check, and then run a more wide open passing game. He's fantastic in the 2 minute offense, and when we are trailing. It's like he struggles with traditional, more deliberate offense when they break the huddle with ~15 seconds left. He seems to be at his best when he has more time at the line to study the defense, so move faster even if we don't snap it until there is 5 seconds left on the play clock. He really seems to play better when he gets a longer pre-snap look at the defense.

This might be the worst strategy I’ve heard.  We need to scheme up some passing wins, build rhythm and momentum. Repeating crap means you’re still getting crap.

So legette being that wide open on the play and simply dropping it wasn’t an abject failure in coverage? It definitely was. Legette burned slay and CJGJ got caught looking and not reacting nearly fast enough as legette running by slay and him.

the legette drop wasn’t a broken play made by Bryce young. This is slay getting beat and CJGJ not reacting well

There isn’t much of a problem.  One of the best teams in the nfl that has elite talent at every position.

But…if the Eagles don’t win the SB, the passing offense will be the reason why.  And, let’s be honest…when people say the passing offense is disappointing and out of sync, no one is referring to the OL, AJ Brown, or Devonta Smith.

Yes, that play.  I was making reference to the "marching" connotation.  The Panthers weren't marching.  They were jumping all over the place.

Agreed.  These games don’t matter anymore.  Save Saquan and try to pass the passing game back on track.  Can easily go back to the running offense in the playoffs.

Fair enough.  Again, I like the criticism of the passing game and Hurts.

Hurts needs to be better.  The coaching staff has to be better, the OL pass pro needs to be better.

I hope this lights a fire under them to be better.  Because if they can figure that out with the great running game and defense, they have a chance to do something special.

Yes let’s kill all the momentum we have on offense, sounds like a great plan

It seems like Hurts has the "yips” randomly in games. Guys are wide open and he is looking right at them? What’s the glitch in the matrix for? Or is he worried about his lack of arm strength and that’s why he doesn’t throw it?

Maybe he’s just not as good as we thought he was. Maybe it’s just that simple.

I'd probably put 45% on Hurts, 35% on the scheme, and 10% each on the OL and WRs. But this isn't a ridiculous take.

Better to burn out the engine of the one thing that works on offense?

Dean also going for the INT on that batted pass rather than just hitting the ball down was kind of a situational awareness issue. An INT really did nothing more than an incomplete in that scenario.

How much of the scheme is a function of Hurts?

I think cautious is the correct Take with Hurts. That + bad scheme where guys don't get wide open = terrifying combo.
