I know people will say you dont want your QB blocking, but the barkley goal line run where Hurts stood 5 yards away with his arms up celebrating (Barkley did not get in) instead of going and giving HIM a goal line shove really pissed me off. Of course the next play, Hurts got his tush pushed and got the glory of being such a fantastic rushing QB.

I listened to a bit of the talking heads ramble about the Eagles' win yesterday and the disagreement between Orlovsky and Rex Ryan was somewhat interesting in that I can see merit in both points of view.  Orlovsky was pointing out looks and throws that Hurts was missing, where Ryan was saying "why the drama?"  they've just won their 9th game in a row and -- more importantly -- have a successful formula in running up 200+ yards on the ground and not turning the ball over.  The Eagles play in a fishbowl media market and these players are giving the media ammunition to run with.

It's kind of a weird attitude coming from a coach.  Okay, you don't have a to be a perfectionist to realize a lot of yards and points were left on the field; and against better teams your going to need  to play at a higher level.  Incrementally you are looking to get better each week - if you aren't improving, your team is falling behind.

Don’t really care for acho but he’s right on the Aj brown part. I brought this up during the ravens games, there’s no way he should be ranking 43rd in the league in targets. He’s too good. Add on there’s no reason he should have 5 targets in the red zone all year. It’s a problem

Yeah, "everybody can eat" is spot on to the stupid excuse that his numbers are crap cause of SB or he doesn't have to throw cause of SB. If they never had to punt we could have that conversation, but there are way too many 3 and outs and it's on #1.

OK, arseclown, here is the post I made on 6/30/22, in response to people like you saying they wouldn't trade Maxey for basically anyone. This was your post about how you wouldn't trade Maxey straight up for KD:

If I am putting money on Maxey getting 2 levels better vs Embiid, Harden and Durant all being healthy together in the next 1-2 years, I am putting my money on the first one.  If one of those guys get hurt, we are done.  No money to have roll players or bench guys to help out and make much of a difference.

So I responded by mocking you with the following:

I mean, Michael Jordan is good. But I’d rather see if Hersey Hawkins gets 2 levels better.

(some Sixers fans in 1992)

At no point did I compare Maxey to Hawkins, other than basically saying not trading him for KD in 2022 was akin to not trading Hawkins (our 2nd best player at the time) for MJ in 1992. You were roundly being mocked back then, and for good reason. Anyone would have traded Maxey for KD in 2022.

Love that detailed breakdown I did where I compared Maxey to Hawkins.

That's an interesting observation.  The reason it doesn't work might just be who it is they are using to do it.  But, in terms of not using Brown that way, it's like either they are scared to use Brown that way, or he refuses to do it.  I think he'd be great at it, but even if they wanted to do it with Shipley... it would be another tool in the chest.

I mean, I think anyone would be better than Anais Smith if they want to do it. But do we really need to add more to the run game?

You know how I feel about your criticism of Hurts?

I promise I don't think about you at all.

Who the F is this guy??

Was afraid this was the case when he went down yesterday. Just brutal. He was coming back from the same injury.

Yeh, I honestly don't put much stock/thought into what Orlovsky has to say generally speaking. He was a mediocre college qb at best at two second tier schools, he then somehow had a career that lasted a while in the NFL....with a 75 rating. Everyone has to make a living I guess, his job I think is to have interesting interaction with Stephen A to help drive ratings, because his takes on qb play are invalid in my mind.

There are a lot of really stupid former players who say things on TV, or the radio. And some fans buy it because they assume players know football. Most of the time its wrong. And most of the time those are former players of meathead positions like LB, or DL...

There are a lot of QBs who are very smart who just didnt quite have the talent. But they can x an o the hell out of a white board with brilliant concepts and understanding of coverage schemes and passing progressions. Most former players who become coaches werent excellent players. You can be a lackluster player and have a lot of worthwhile comments.

Orlovsky is a fine analyst. Kurt Warner was also critical of the eagles passing game, and noted all of the in breaking routes that actually exist (while people around here say they dont), and all the times those players are open but not getting the ball.

These are you words, in the English language.  Can you read?

Hersey Hawkins made an all-star team In 1991. Lemme know when Maxey does.

I see now, you're too dumb to know when you are being mocked/trolled.

Moving on.

3 and outs, and also the fact that we have reduced Hurts attempts to about 20 per game. Thats just not enough to spread the ball around to all of the worthy receiving options. And hes not capable of throwing it more without making numerous costly mistakes.

I was looking for ways to get Brown more involved and give him a chance to do what he does best... RUN after catch.  It would give him involvement, it would give Barkley a bit of a break, and if they use Barkley on the field at the same time, keeps the defense focused on him while Brown goes in motion to get the ball moving full speed.   And, best of all, it wouldn't require a whole lot of extra effort to be able to implement it immediately.  Hurts wouldn't have to get his head screwed on right for it to be effective.   Smith and Brown start on the same side of field, Barkley in the backfield, and Brown goes into motion to Johnny Wilson's side.  He's practically a TE anyway.  The OL can block away from the run action to draw the LBs that way and let Brown make one guy miss, and he's off to the races.

Just a thought on an easy thing to do to get the ball into Brown's hands... and EARLY in the game to get involved and stay in it mentally.  Take some pressure off Barkley's body.  I don't know.  It seems a pretty easy wrinkle.    Then you can run that motion, and then give it to Barkley running the opposite way off tackle.   Then you can do it again, go play action to Barkley, and then look to throw it over to Brown in the flat with a head of steam.   3 plays, one formation and motion.  And, I think it could actually be quite effective without rewriting everything.

I'd be OK if the NBA started on Christmas.

That or later.  I'd love for it to be like covid where it goes across the summer and the championship isn't until late July/early August.

😂 What? How do you think they teach that play? This is you in a nutshell. Pissed at Hurts for absolutely no reason at all.

Id agree with that if it was as a lead blocker, but if he just followed the play and gave Barkley a push from behind from the 1 yard line thats not too dangerous. Would have been nice to see a team play from him.

You are so eager to put the laughing emjois you used one when I defended Hurts decision to not throw to AJ Brown in the end zone. Your opinions are completely worthless.

I dont watch the talking heads much but I'll say it again... Stafford > Goff/Love/Cousins/Hurts

And I'm far from being a Hurts hater, I just think Stafford is a really good QB. Of course it helps to have guys like Coop and Puka to throw to, but when healthy, he's got all the tools you want in a QB. I think Herbert can get there too, but might need a better environment to develop in. For Stafford, that meant getting out of Detroit and into a McVay offense. Likewise, I think Herbert in an offense like in Miami or SF would put up some wild ass numbers.
