Handled the practice tent collapse matter back in the day.  That one almost did kill people.  Jerruh and falling objects and his team are not a laughing matter.

yeh, that was crazy. the special teams coach was very, very lucky. fractured cervical vertebrae (not sure what number) without paralysis...i think he ended up not able turn his head side to side though...at least without turning his shoulders.

The most important factor in winning the Super Bowl is getting a seed from1 to 7

Hasn't been one from the 7 seed yet, but it's probably going to happen sooner or later.  A couple of 6 seeds have won.

@Joe Ball -- Dallas made #7 Green Bay look like a Super Bowl favorite this past January ....

Ironically, keeping Danny Dimes as the starter probably would have helped their chances of getting the #1 pick.  They're just cheap AF and don't want to pay him.

Cowboys should also fire their GM.

yes please...

After Larry Allen.

He’s on a Mt Rushmore of no human that plays OL should be able to do what he did…I’d say with Munoz and Matthews.   You could probably put up there Ogden, Peters and Walter Jones too.  The homer in me wants to say Kelce as well.  YOu’re the expert…so flame away lol.

So give up a 4th for a QB and refuse to see what he has even in a lost season. Yep that's GM Jerry for you.

It's interesting to me that the Cowboys haven't raided Howie's staff. They've been good at the ol' meat and potatoes scouting, but they're sooo bad at managing trades and contracts. Good for us they haven't figured it out yet.

they absolutely did...that was the beginning of the downfall. Going from 16-1 at home to getting their doors blown off regularly.

I just have no legitimate theory as to what is happening other than the FO let them down by hamstringing the roster in the spring, the coaching staff has lost the locker room, and the players, while most are really trying to carry this forward, there are a few that should be leading by example (they are getting paid well...CeeDee) but they don't. Look it's a crap year for them I get it, no excuse here (see above comments), injuries have hit them hard, very hard, but lack of depth and resiliency are absolutely required to win championships in the NFL. Jerry didn't provide the depth, and the players and coaches have not shown the ability to summon the resiliency to compete. They are going through the motions at this point. Rush who was a very good back-up (5-1) just a couple of years ago when Dak was out for a several weeks looks complacent...they all look complacent.

At least i have a place where I can vent my frustration and it is considered a viable opinion, thank fellas 🤣

I’m hardly an expert, just opinionated. Your mountain looks good to me. I started  to say that there must have been better centers than Kelce but, you know, I can’t think of one.

Last 8 SB:

2023: SF (1) vs. KC (3)
2022: Phi (1) vs. KC (1)
2021: LA (4) vs. Cin (4)

2 bye era
2020: TB (5) vs. KC (2)
2019: SF (1) vs. KC (1)
2018: LA (2) vs. NE (2)
2017: Phi (1) vs. NE (1)
2016: Atl (2) vs. NE (1)

Almost like the bye really really matters.

The next month will answer whether this Eagles team is for real.

Rams: Possibly the best pocket passer left in football, 2 elite WRs, a relentless pass rush

Ravens: Best offense in the league, healthy Lamar + Henry

Panthers: Eagles of yesteryear get Chuba Hubbard 4 yard runs all game and lose ugly to this garbage team.

Steelers: Big time defense. How do Eagles respond if Saquon gets shut down and Hurts is chased around all game? Defensively, is this DK vs Slay from a few years ago with Pickens instead?

One thing's for sure, we're gonna learn a hell of a lot about how good this young secondary actually is.

Eagles seem to be improving each week, just don't peak too early...Eagles are in a great position...Lions vs Eagles for NFC Champion, home field will be extremely important.

Martin has missed 11 total games in his career and has many more pro bowls and all pro selections than Johnson. LJ is a hell of a player, but Martin has performed better over the years imo. Taking nothing away from a great leader for the Eagles.

Hard to compare different positions, which is why I got push back when I put Kelce over Lane last week.   But, I can't argue that Martin isn't better than Lane... except for that stupid star on the sides of his helmet.   Because he played/plays for the evil empire, he's the worst OL in the history of OL.  :P

In all seriousness though, he's been an amazing OG for a long time.  I'd rank him below Alan Faneca and Larry Allen, but likely put him ahead of Brandon Brooks, which is hard to admit.

Add the center from Pittsburgh...Webster I believe. Kelce for his size was just tremendous, such an intelligent player.

Steroids helped Webster considerably. Allegedly.

Allen was a unicorn amongst unicorns.   He was the best OG in the NFL... then they slid him out to LT for a year or two, and he was nearly as great there.

This may be one of those non-scoring yet pivotal plays, like the deep out to Jeffrey right before the Elliott 61-yarder, that make a special season.

Been seeing that we are 16th in passing DVOA.  Not acceptable with our WRs and OL.

Hurts and Moore need to get this right.

Well The Lions already beat the Rams. They both lost to Tampa and both beat Cowboys and Jags.  For tiebreaker purposes, this is definitely a game the Birds need to win.

I'll give you some names to consider...

Jim Otto, Dermonti Dawson, Jim Ringo...  Two of them are before my time.

If we're going to run this much, we won't crack the top 10 given how potent those offenses are on a per play basis AND a volume basis.

At the same time, I just wish our passing offense felt "easier" in the 1st half of games. Everything feels hard.

76ers need to trade Embiid and George at the deadline, and start over. Build around Maxey.

They have the Clippers picks which will be high.

Embiid is not eligible for trade until this offseason.  It's not like they'd get value for him or PG in trade right now anyway, so the only thing to do is hope they both improve.

If things continue this badly for another few weeks they need to pull the plug and tank.  They save their pick only if it's top 6, so they'll need to finish right at the bottom of the standings to keep it.

It's really not that complicated, and we were discussing it before the season -- Dallas lost a bunch of key contributors and replaced them with question marks. The most serious, and under discussed, issue is what they did on the OL. Injuries have made it worse, but I thought they were a 7 seed at best coming into the season.

OL -- Lose Tyron Smith (2nd team all-pro in 2023) and Biadasz. So your starting LT and center walk out the door, and you replace them with 2 rookies that have never played the positions. Guyton was seen as a project -- great physical attributes, but only had 14 starts in college with all but one at RT. Everyone agreed he needed to sit and learn -- and Dallas drafted him and made him the starting LT. Cooper Beebe was seen as a solid guard prospect who never played center in college -- that's a hell of an ask to make him an opening day NFL center. Everyone cries about missing on Derrick Henry, but he wouldn't be nearly as successful behind this line. Add in the beginning of Martin's decline, and the OL is a huge liability.

DL -- When Fowler (4 sacks in 2023) and Dorrance Armstrong (7.5 sacks in 2023) followed Quinn to Washington, it left Dallas with no depth behind Micah and Lawrence. Now, Sam Williams going down in the preseason made things worse, but Dallas was banking on a big jump from Williams and Kneeland making an immediate impact. Then they added nothing to the DT rotation that got slaughtered last year on the ground. 2 stars can't create a dominant front all alone.

CB -- Losing Gilmore is another thing that isn't discussed enough. Bland may have had all the pick 6's, but Gilmore was the best cover corner on the team in 2023. And again -- just zero depth behind the starters.

The simple truth is - Jerry is cheap as hell and isn't trying to win. He's trying to just increase franchise value by remaining the most discussed team in the league. He could have created cap space by extending Dak and Ceedee early in the offseason, but he didn't want to pay. Hell, he could have converted their salaries into signing bonuses to free up space pending extensions, but he didn't want to write the check. He has conned the entire football world into believing he would spend big $$ to win, when the truth is he spends less cash than basically every other team. Because he doesn't care about winning. He cares about getting attention.

Agreed.   https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2024/3/25/24110551/dallas-cowboys-salary-cap-under-spend-jerry-stephen-jones-family-cash-spend-prorate-contracts

Below is cash spending from 2021 - 2023.  This will change in 2024 because of laying out money for Dak and CeeDee.

Also, the Cowboys have gotten two decades very good QB play without investing any real draft capital at the position.  Romo was a UDFA and Dak was taken in the fourth round.

Wasted opportunity.

From 2016 - 2018, they had Dak and Zeke on rookie contracts. They had Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zach Martin anchoring an A+ line. Dez and Witten as targets. And yet...Jerry invested no real money in FA to build around that core, and they didn't win anything. His complete and utter refusal to spend money and bring in free agents doomed that team, and every Cowboys team since 1996.
