At this point, I think its last year stuff bubbling up again.  So, it never got properly dealt with then, so maybe they can actually do it now.

BG ensured that they need to address it whatever it is and whenever it started

Why not at a Flyers game?   After all, the Flyers are playing better.

Whoa whoa whoa. Sixers won 4 out of 5 and 1.5 games out of the play in and 4 out of the 6 seed lol

One way to put this potential nightmare to bed.  Dial up a trick play on the first drive. AJ Brown throws a pass to Jalen for a TD.  Make it happen, Kellen.

The other meeting needs to be with Siri, Moore, Nussmeier and Hurts. They need Hurts to get his head out of his ass. He's not turning the ball over, great but now he's overcorrected to being scared to take risks and even hesitant in his running game at times. They need to burn some sage, throw some motivational quotes at him, have Big Dom and Stoutland yell at him, whatever it takes. This offense is built to win and the QB is broken and the problem. I generally like Hurts and he's shown he's capable of more in the past, even in some games this season.

Without question.  I believe the biggest thing with Hurts is he needs to reach the point where he sees himself as the facilitator rather than the playmaker.  I know I read somewhere before the season that Moore and Nussmeier were very big on the time-to-throw metric and getting the ball out, and that one of the media guys asked Hurts about it in relation to the "new offense".  It had something to do with a 2.5 second or 2.6 second clock (something like that).  It bothered me that when the media guy asked Hurts about it, Hurts replied "Never heard of it" -- which I found really hard to believe.

This offense has all the weapons to force defenses into a no-win and pick their poison.  You're either going to crowd the LOS to slow down Barkley and force Hurts to beat you with his arm -- which is what we're going to see into the playoffs -- leaving AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith 1-on-1 all game, or you'll play two-high safety and have the Eagles pound you in the run game.

We know the Eagles will pound teams in the run game.  How far the Eagles will go in the playoffs will depend on how much Hurts can punish teams for leaving Brown and Smith 1-on-1 on big downs.

And yet he was 100% accurate about Carson Wentz and Doug situation. So you wanna say cox called him a liar? No he call him a clown. Let me just point out Fletcher cox ain’t exactly the best human being  based of his past discretions. Love him as an eagle but he’s not exactly the most standup human being

again, you like to think the Eagles organization doesn’t put things out there that they want out there. You wanna know why they’re comfortable giving stories to Jeff McLane, because fans will attack McLane rather than be upset at the person leaking it to mclane cause they love their hometown team.

let me say this I hate ESP. I think he is a Skip jr. But I guarantee you he didn’t just makeup the desean Jackson gang story. You think he was just digging around for that for two years just to find that piece of info? No, someone within the eagles said something to him cause they had an agenda. it was probably Chip Kelly as the person who told him it and said fine go with it because it made it easier to just move on from him.

The Eagles organization leaking anything negative about Hurts makes zero sense - either last year or now - given the fact that they cannot move on from Hurts until AFTER NEXT season - and even then it’s a 49 mil cap hit.

So although leaks may have occurred in the past - it makes ZERO sense any of this would have come from inside the organization - in the middle of a Super Bowl run - against a guy that will be here for at least one maybe two more seasons.   ZERO chance.

If Hurts is saying that he's just doing what he's asked to do.......

So the coaches are asking him on passing plays to hold the ball for longer and not throw it?  I doubt it.

Its absolutely OK that we are a running team.  That's our strength.  But Hurts just needs to make the plays thru the air when it's needed.  It's OK to hit a check down or dump it off to a WR for 6 yards.

But everything else on offense is elite and his recent play has been bad. That won't be enough in the playoffs.

I'm not sure this is true.  We very well may be able to beat any team in the playoffs with this team, even with the aerial issues.  Get a first Q score and might be able to beat them all with the exact same output.  Because now we have a defense that can get some outs.

Yeah, they are killing it, alright.🤣

All this drama talk and we're still going to beat the Steelers on Sunday.

Agreed.   And frankly, I think that its a good thing... one way or the other, it has to be addressed.   I don't think it ever was last year... and now its leaking into this year.

Did you watch the game? Hurts is garbage. Even if they called 10 pass plays. That’s not the point. On the actual pass plays, he can’t see the field, isn’t throwing to open WRs, running out of clean pockets, taking pointless sacks. It’s mind boggling to me how many excuses are made for Hurts. It’s always someone else’s fault.

Of course, I watched the game and rewatched using the condensed game and will watch the All22.  A lot of players seemed off on Sunday.

I suspect the All22 will reveal that Theilin (sp) hit every hole in the zone and didn’t victimize Cooper alone.  But folks aren’t crucifying the secondary.  The OLBs really failed at edge contain, especially Nolan Smith and Hunt.  But folks aren’t criticizing them.  Rough game for the ILBs too.  Was possibly the worse tackling since the bye.  Defense played like it was a trap game.

The OL wasn’t great in pass protection, especially in RPO plays.  Jurgens and Becton had a rough day and it wasn’t Lane’s best either but no one is criticizing them.  The OL played down to the completion on Sunday. But when they needed to score, Hurts and Barkley led the charge.

I have never been a champion of Hurts ignoring his faults.  My reaction to him before the draft was he was a one read and go QB (most in college are).  He processes slower than is acceptable.  But there is always this assumption that the visibly open WR was the hot read.  Still pictures rarely reflect what is seen by the QB.  The QB is trying to process the receivers in 2.5 seconds with the other teams front four/five or more surging at him and demanding some level of his attention. Hurts needs to get down to 2.5 seconds.  He needs to improve his vision.  But he is not garbage. Heck, he is one of the better deep ball throwers in the NFL.   He’s a work in progress.  All of the players are.  And I have seen improvements and some sliding back.  As I said earlier, to avoid the turnovers, they pushed him to risk aversion.  Now coach him back to what is appropriate risk.  That includes coaching him on when not to keep the ball as several times each game recently, he read the play wrong and decided to keep the ball himself on runs that failed.  But it also includes letting him throw into tighter windows.   But those 22 points that were enough to win the game, he had a lot to do with that too.

Thing is, I think Hurts has the best QB coach he has had.  He talks about Nuss like he talks about his Dad.  I think back to something Bum Phillips said. "Two kinds of players ain't worth a damn: One that never does what he's told, and one who does nothin' but what he's told."  The former was Wentz.  Every week he get up to the microphone and talk about he needed to improve and never did.  I worry that Hurts could become the latter.  It’s on Nuss, Moore and Nick to make sure he doesn’t and I think it is likely they succeed.  But I think some flaws while they may be improved on, may never fade away completely.

That would be good.  But, talk is cheap.  They need to do it on the field.

Was he not a facilitator in 2022 and 2023?

I find it funny how fans here have yelled at the team to "just run the ball" or give it to Saquon all season, and now that that's all they do, they're begging for Hurts to throw it lol.   As I said earlier, if Hurts has another game like this past weekend vs. the Steelers, I'll be concerned.

Did I see it here, or on X, that Saquon Barkley has been tackled at the 1 yard line 10 times and all 10 times have led to Hurts sneak TDs? That's insane.

If Barkley gets those 10 TDs, he's got 21 TDs in 13 games.

On the flipside, Hurts goes from 13 down to 3. Adding that to his 16 TD passes, how would we feel about the QB producing 19 total TDs in 13 games?

From an individual standpoint, things look a lot different. Barkley, with 1600 yards and 21 TDs would be a runaway MVP candidate.

Nah - they should dial it up, but when Jalen comes free for a huge play, AJ should roll out and throw the ball away.  Give him a taste of his own medicine!

Literally, this story last night came from within an organization because Brandon Graham opened his mouth last night. What is Brandon Graham? A player on the Eagles. That is the definition of getting information from somebody within that organization. Lol

Also those stories came out end of season and in the past when things were falling apart.

I hate to break it to you guys reporters when it’s not one or two but multiple are hearing the same thing, it’s not them making up leaks and stories. I know in the eyes of the blog the media is much easier to blame them than hold the people accountable talking to them.

when the hurts/sirianni rift news came out multiple reporters heard the same thing. Ditto with the internal concerns within the organization. No offense I don’t think the reporters are in a group chat together being like "hey you know what could get us all really good stories for a while, we just make things up about the internal concerns the organization has with him”.

Sad that they are irrelevant in such a great basketball city.

Hopefully Slay goes on Parsons podcast later today to clear the air on it all

Naturally, they will doing plenty internally.  Externally, all courses of public action have significant risks.  If they don't address it openly then it risks festering and growing behind the scenes like last year.  If they try to address it with the parties involved there will be a real risk of something more being said that makes things worse.  If they try some compromise like having Howie or Nick have a special presser then the risk is that it doesn't come off as transparent.

Maybe it is best to roll the dice and prepare everyone as best they can and then put them on stage for a "doing this once" type of event.  If they go that route then I hope they take a day to prepare and then execute either tomorrow or Thursday.

Oh god, you want the offense to start the day with a 15 yard sack?

Yea that’s why the leaks came out after the season was over

So hit 5 to 7 more pass plays and this solves everything.

And eliminate the stupid stuff like sliding for a sack.  That ball should have been thrown away.

--

I would like 2-3 more outside zone or sweeps with Gainwell.  Nice way to spell Saquon and he is getting nice dividends per run.

--

Otherwise, I am fine with 65% runs with this line and this generational RB.

It seems they want to keep Jalen at about 24 passes and under.   I say up it to closer to 30 and that should open things up a little more.  With that said, I don't want them to change their formula right now because it's working.  We are a very balanced team with this strategy.   I think changing the playcalling early will fix this.  Get the passing game going early is the key.    Quick passes or slants to AJ off the bat to get things going.  What I find funny about the Panthers discourse is going into the game it was "The Panthers have a terrible Run Defense, we must run".  The Eagles rush for 209 yards and all the talk is the passing game, lol.

Whoa, Fran Duffy who has defended Hurts and knocked the scheme for a majority of the season, went in on Hurts a bit today.
