TO has become the voice of reason…

Because people make the argument that only Hurts makes these mistakes, and then they gush over other QB's in the league that do the same things.  I just saw someone saying they'd take Geno Smith over Hurts. Earlier in the season people were fangirls for Jayden Daniels, Kirk Cousins (LMAO), and Kyler Murray over Hurts.  Ya'll are WILD!

Do you have examples of this?

This whole "who cares we're winning" is the same BS we were saying last year when this team was 9-1 and cruising.

It's not that Hurts *can't* do it, it's that he's *not* doing it.  He's missing reads, taking way too long to go through his progressions, taking off way too early, and making dumb mistakes that veteran franchise quarterbacks aren't supposed to make.

The fact that we've won in spite of that doesn't mean that it's still not a problem.

AJ hasn't had a game this season where he's had over 6 receptions.  With that said, he's got 4 games where he's had over 100 rec yards.    When Hurts goes back to the deep ball to him, he'll be happy again.

i much rather have hurts then geno. Don’t think geno is very good. Hes an average Qb.

No thanks on cousins as soon as he tore his Achilles. He’s never winning anything meaningful.

I’ve spoken on why nobody should want Kyler Murray over Jalen hurts. Kyler Murray does this every year. He looks great to start the season. Then midseason he’s so solid but not great. Then by the end of the year he starts going the complete opposite direction and getting banged up. He also has these 2 to 3 plays in games where you’re just like what the F are you doing and severely hurts the team. I said that since Jalen was a rookie, I rather have hurts than Kyler Murray.

as for Daniels, at least that argument i could understand cause he was playing at a high level as a rookie so it’s likely he is going to keep improving year to year and is on a rookie contract.

I'm not talking about AJ Brown being happy or not.  I'm talking about our franchise quarterback playing like ass.

No, you can be highlighted for both things, which is the whole point.  I think that's the biggest issue on this board. Us Hurts "defenders" can acknowledge when he has bad plays/makes mistakes, but all of the good stuff gets ignored by all the doubters/haters.

Yet when it's something negative you just bring up another QB on another team as some comparison and justification. You literally just did that

Pickens is doubtful for Sunday.

They should definitely rest him for the Ravens game.

TJ Watt too. Shouldn’t risk him in a meaningless out of conference game.

Russell Wilson is an old man. He should rest too.

Figured he’d miss multiple weeks since the injury popped up on a Friday

I don't care how bad the QB plays, don't bish out and throw tantrums on the sideline and call him out publicly.

Especially when he's supposed to be a "friend".

Hurts has limitations. That's it. It is what it is. It's not like he isn't trying, or putting in the work / effort.

Grow the F up.

The fact that we've won in spite of that doesn't mean that it's still not a problem.

Last year the team was 10-3 with a +21 point differential through 13 games.

This year the team is 11-2 with a +108 point differential, good for 3rd best in the league, through 13 games.

It's not the same as we're dominating teams consistently this year, whereas last year we were barely winning.

That's not to say there aren't issues with the passing game, however there is a credible argument that the ultra-conservative approach to the passing game is optimal considering the strength of our defense and running game this season.

Is this real?

Of course, I watched the game and rewatched using the condensed game and will watch the All22.  A lot of players seemed off on Sunday.

I suspect the All22 will reveal that Theilin (sp) hit every hole in the zone and didn’t victimize Cooper alone.  But folks aren’t crucifying the secondary.  The OLBs really failed at edge contain, especially Nolan Smith and Hunt.  But folks aren’t criticizing them.  Rough game for the ILBs too.  Was possibly the worse tackling since the bye.  Defense played like it was a trap game.

If the secondary, LBs, etc. were bad for 3 straight games and getting worse with each succeeding week, they'd be getting a lot more criticism.

It's undoubtedly real.  Gastineau was the Jason Babin of New York.

TJ Watt eclipsed his sack total as well, and should actually have been credited with 23.5 sacks if not for a snap that short-hopped the QB and was deemed a tackle for Watt rather than a sack.  Anyone with a record should want to see it matched or broken at some point -- otherwise, what's the significance of the record?

Naturally, they will doing plenty internally.  Externally, all courses of public action have significant risks.  If they don't address it openly then it risks festering and growing behind the scenes like last year.  If they try to address it with the parties involved there will be a real risk of something more being said that makes things worse.  If they try some compromise like having Howie or Nick have a special presser then the risk is that it doesn't come off as transparent.

Maybe it is best to roll the dice and prepare everyone as best they can and then put them on stage for a "doing this once" type of event.  If they go that route then I hope they take a day to prepare and then execute either tomorrow or Thursday.

Continuing to talk publicly is dumb.  Company line from here is:  "We've all talked about it.  It isn't an issue anymore."   Even if it isn't.

Reporter: Who talked?

Sirianni, Graham, Hurts, Brown, the janitor: "The people who needed to."

Reporter:  Who are they?

Sirianni, et al:  "All parties that needed to."

It seems they want to keep Jalen at about 24 passes and under.   I say up it to closer to 30 and that should open things up a little more.  With that said, I don't want them to change their formula right now because it's working.  We are a very balanced team with this strategy.   I think changing the playcalling early will fix this.  Get the passing game going early is the key.    Quick passes or slants to AJ off the bat to get things going.  What I find funny about the Panthers discourse is going into the game it was "The Panthers have a terrible Run Defense, we must run".  The Eagles rush for 209 yards and all the talk is the passing game, lol.

How does 6 more pass attempts with a broken process going to fix anything?   The issue isn't the number of attempts, the issue is the efficiency with those attempts.

The mistakes Hurts is making out there is an issue.  It's borderline inexcusable at this point in the season and in his career.

That's the compromise option.  I agree that is the most likely the one they will go with.  It won't clear things up externally but it won't make things worse either.  They'll have to button their lips and also behave well on the sidelines thru to the playoffs for it to die down publicly but it can certainly be accomplished.
