Maybe they dont allow you to challenge to GET a flag, but you can challenge to have a phantom penalty reversed. That might be a decent middle ground.

Hmm...that would suck less, but I still am not sure you want them replaying things like holding calls or PI. But this wouldn't address the current rash of uncalled facemask penalties either.

Good god

Why the F do they keep making us play Tampa

Not sure if that's the issue (not being as well trained) or if there's just too much going on for the current crew to catch in real-time. Increasing the size of the crew (e.g. addtional back judge and/or field judge) and having them confer more often on something they might've seen or not seen could work too. Counter-argument to a bigger crew is more potential for them to inhibit the play which is obviously worse.

I mean, the official was looking right at Calcaterra getting his facemask pulled and did nothing. I feel like most of these missed facemasks, the ref is right there.

2021 -- we played the NFC South

2023 -- we and Tampa both won our divisions in 2022

2024 -- we played the NFC South

2025 -- this is assuming we both win our divisions

I like Shipley's breakdowns.

It wouldnt help  us with Carter being held constantly, or the uncalled facemask that helped stall our drive (although Jalen pretty much had it dead and you cant count on a penalty to bail you out).

But we have been called for some significant, hurtful phantom penalties in the last 2 games as well.

It is a less common screw up so theres less opportunities to throw a challenge flag.

Yeah not sure wtf happened in that case, but in general if this is becoming a recurring problem, I think more sets of eyes down on the field could help without the drawback of slowing down the game with more replay reviews.

Im all for a dome to attract larger events. But Id want the roof open except for rain, or a blizzard. Id let it be cold for football. It let it be hot. Id let there be snow as long as its not a crazy storm where fans have to shovel out seats like in buffalo. I wouldn't want to get rid of the elements completely.

Unfortunately, they don't think that way. Believe it or not, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta can open the roof and they've done it maybe once? All those SEC games in there with perfect Fall weather...roof closed. All the Falcons games...roof closed.

The Texans can open their roof, but haven't since 2021.

Why invest in retractable roofs when all you're going to do is use it as a dome?

Good god

Damn that looks brutal. BYE probably coming week 4.

Vegas and the Giants look to be the only easy games. Damn. They better win this year.

I'm good with it. Louder and they can open it when they want to.

DeSean Jackson should be there to ceremonially be the first person ever to take the top off.

Disgraceful that we could get a new stadium that is at least partially privately funded? What are you on about now?

Barkley is so easy to like. Could this go down as one of the worst mistakes by letting him go?

The problem becomes, once you open the can of worms on reviews for penalties, where do you draw the line? Remember the catastrophe of letting coaches challenge for PI for a year because Sean Payton cried about the NFCCG (I know he was right, but I hate that guy). PI? Holding? Hits to the helmet?

You're kind of opening Pandora's box with this.

Maybe have whoever does the booth review should be able to pause the game whenever if they see a missed facemask and force the penalty? I think those might be the easiest penalties where everyone would agree a facemask did happen at least. Don't include other penalties because some may not be certain. Hooking into the facemask or fingers under the helmet ripping it off is pretty easy to spot and not have a debate on if it happened or not

Remember the draft when Eagles hosted? Hosting the SB and even playing in it would be awesome

I kinda think they need to bring the 5 yard facemask penalty back. I wonder if making it only a 15 yarder with an automatic 1st down has made refs more hesitant to throw the flag. Bringing back the 5 yarder, and letting replay determine if it is a 5 or 15 might work. This would mean refs would go back to throwing the flag more as a default.

That's what makes it more an issue for the QB versus the system.

Here’s the thing: every QB leaves plays on the field. Some more than others, and with varying consistency.

F all of these indoor football stadiums. Football is meant to be played outside.

That might be the root of the problem. They should do their damn job. I'd rather a flag was thrown anyway if they weren't sure and then picked up instead of not throwing one at all. They have too much power and need to be checked

You're not expected to throw for 4k yards but Hurts isn't even throwing for 3k yards. He's at 2602 and he's got 4 games left. We might even sit him. There's a possibility he doesn't even reach 3k

3,000 yards passing was very impressive........in the 80s.
