A cowboy being an azzhat? You don't say

I lived in Dallas from 1989 through 1996.  Lots of azzhats then, but Emmitt Smith was never one of them.  Definitely my favorite Cowboy

He didn't leave the League playing at a high level like Eli did.

Eli left at a high level?

True but he did play on a Super Bowl winning team

I'll give you some names to consider...

Jim Otto, Dermonti Dawson, Jim Ringo...  Two of them are before my time.

Kelce is considered a smallish center but he’s bigger than all those guys except for Dawson. Those two are about the same size. It’s a problem when measuring players from different eras against each other. I’d put Kelce and Dawson 1A and 1B and clearly better than the others mentioned. I’m surprised no one mentioned Concrete Charlie, whom I’d rate above Ringo or Otto but his best position was MLB. Getting back to Kelce, he was a real unicorn. He revolutionized the position.

He got fired by the owner for not telling the owner that the owner was stupid for wanting to pursue Aaron Rodgers.

I also have great respect for Demarcus Ware.

I kind of forgot about that League.

After you dropped a massive 32 points on me I would have never guessed.

All but Kelce and Dawson were before my time.  I mentioned Otto because he has the most All Pros to his name.  And Ringo because of Lombardi's Packers and the Eagles connection.  But as for Bednarik, I really have no reference for him as a center whatsoever.  I've only seen the highlights of him as a LB.

Oh well, he can always get his job back being the level 1 boss of Double Dragon.

Besides Brady who was the last elite QB to retire on top? Peyton played like crap his last year. Ben went out sad. Brees couldn't throw for a bit. Rodgers took a nose dive

I still think there's no reason to depend on a QB that's in his 40s.  I know Brady retired at 44, but that is an outlier.

  • Paintin' Manning retired at 39
  • Roethlisberger retired at 39
  • Eli Manning retired at 39
  • Joe Montana retired at 38
  • John Elway retired at 38

Why would anyone trade for a QB that was 39!?  And let alone trade for him, they gave up quite a bit.

Jets are going to be awesome in ten years when they trade for Jordan Love

Montana and Elway knew better than to play with father time

I thought Montana, Marcus Allen and Father Time played together in KC.  🤔

Were they his or Howie's?  Or were the good picks Howie and the bad ones Joe?

Douglas has a couple months off. The Jets did him a favor because I’d bet he’ll have another opportunity pretty soon. Could very well be in the same facility….

Art Donovan thought that Bednarik wasn’t all that good at center. He wrote about it in his book. Obviously Chuck was outstanding at linebacker. I guess it makes sense that he was much better at one position than the other.

Well it wasn't any worse than when he started in the League.

Same with Roger, but his was more long term health concerns. He was older than the years he played because of his time in the Navy after his college days at Navy. He graduated in '64, didn't play pro until '69 and retired in '79 due to having 20 concussions in that span.

My favorite Eagles are:

Montgomery, Cunningham, Dawkins, Carmichael, E Allen, and of course Reggie...

Our drafting got better after Douglas left, but most seem to have a high opinion of him.  I wonder if Howie would bring him on as a consultant as he rehabs his resume.
