Well ... he had better start passing for 400 yards a game, because it's obvious you can't win in the NFL if you don't.

Belichick is going to destroy his legacy.

I truly believe that prime Belichick (yes, coaches have a prime too, we all do) was the best coach the nfl has seen.

But he’s going to fail recruiting, fail adjusting to the ncaa, fail with a program designed to fail…

I could see this going either way. Post-NIL you don’t need a James Franklin pep rally guy.

Running the ball a lot shortens the game and the number of possessions, thus limiting the chance that an opposing offense is going to score a lot on us.

If teams keep using light boxes against our oline, qb and Saquon, there is zero reason we should be passing the ball more.

Like someone else said, no one wants them to pass the ball more. Hurts gets worse the more he throws, what I want is for the passes we do call to be efficient. Dude threw dropped back 21 times and threw for 108 yards. That's embarrassing

He's averaging 200 passing  yards per game, has not had a 300 yard game this season, and he's coming off a game where he threw for only 108 yards. What does the math tell you?

Quick answer: he doesn't have very many games with just 108 yards. As others have pointed out, every QB has games like that. Goff had a game where he was 12-15 for 85 yards and 3 TDs and people couldn't sing enough praises.

He's had 3 straight games with under 200 yards, he isn't trending in the right direction.

And anyone praising Goff just because he had 3 TDs is an idiot, that doesn't justify anything. No QB should be praised for being carried by the rest of the team. It was annoying when people were doing it with Purdy in 2022 and it's annoying now.

You don’t want this team to go to the Super Bowl?

They don't need to pass more, they need the passes that are being thrown to be more efficient than they have been of late.

It's almost unanimously agreed upon by both sides and yet you keep bringing up these "what if" scenarios

The passing game should be more balanced and that’s what everyone agrees on.

My point is that despite a 9 game win streak - some fans will always find a reason to complain and in this particular case, act as if this has been as issue all season long instead of just the last game or two

He doesn't understand what the actual discussion point is so he keeps using straw men and false dilemmas

Ahhh - no buddy, it’s more like the other way around.  You all seem oblivious to the fact of how silly some of you sound when nitpicking Hurts throwing for 108 yards in one game during a 9 game winning streak.

The cherry on top is some of you actually saying that "wins don’t matter” when discussing Hurts.🤦‍♂️

It’s comical or sad - maybe combination of both, in a way.

Yes - the passing game needs to balance out and improve in some areas.   Is it the issue some of you are making it out to be after a game or two? (Both wins btw). No it’s not even close.

They’ll be fine - hopefully all the way to the Super Bowl and a ring.

It hasn’t just been 2 games to be fair dude. In a league where QBs have been throwing for 4000 yards with almost ease Jalen is at 2600 and probably isn’t going to hit 3500.

Now what I will say is that he adds yards with his legs and that shouldn’t be discounted. If he throws for say 3200 (that is going to be a bit of a stretch I think) yards and adds 800 on the ground (he’s at 544 right now) then that’s 4000 yards and shouldn’t be discounted.

Where I do worry is the sacks he takes as they tend to kill drives and we are going to need to sustain more drives and finish more drives with points in the playoffs.

Ok let me be clear.  He’s averaging 195 passing yards per game as of now - meaning the two low 100 yard games are outliers.   He could end up with around 3400+ yards passing  and another 600 plus yards on the ground for over 4000 total yards.

When you add Saquon Barkley who could end up with over 2400 total yards - that gives you close to 6500 total yards plus 50+ TD’s between a QB and RB - that is (without question)  a winning formula whether some naysayers like it or not.

I’ll enjoy  the ride and make sure to bookmark the last 50 pages of nonsensical gibberish that’s been posted in this blog the last several days; and post it after they make their run this year.

I do agree with a lot of what you are saying but we can’t ignore that the last few games have not been good enough through the air. The test will come if this team is down by more than 1 score late in the 3rd quarter. Can they still run the ball at that point? Risking clock management. I’m not saying they can’t but that will be a test for this team.

He threw for over 300 against the Saints, I believe.

The passing game should be more efficient. The yards aren't there right now, fine. They're missing plays. He's averaging 165 over the last 5 games. He's been extremely bad when plays break down. He's been taking unnecessary sacks.

When the passing game isn't being run efficiently and then you have the dumb sacks and panic moments during plays that break down, it can kill a drive. We've seen that a bunch. Sure, it's possible that he can continue to butcher the passing game like he has of late and we can win regardless, but it's something we more likely than not need to clear up before the playoffs if we're serious about a run.

I think they’ll be fine passing it - the way they’ve been fine passing it; other than maybe 2 games this year.

And it’ll likely be a combination - when you have a guy averaging over 6 YPC on the ground, you stick with him as well - and if necessary, run "no huddle/hurry up” offenses to save the clock (something Hurts has thrived on at times this season)

We're not going to the SB if the passing game stays the way it is

Honestly, you can't really count last year if you are judging Hurts' playoff record as it was a complete team collapse thru the last six games and that included the coaching.  The one game that makes sense to really look at is the SB.

Nope. College Football teams are now hiring GMs too. Wonder if the natural progression is BB as HC for 2 years, then he moves to GM and his son takes over as the coach.

I'm stunned by this, but if he's able to make WVU relevant again then maybe I'll forgive his mortal sin of abandoning the team after they should have been in the national championship.

He’s 7th in the league in ypa. So if you are bummed out by his passing, you also have to be upset with the passing game of a lot of other qbs, such as Josh Allen and Joe Burrow.

See...kumbaya, the team is coming together despite the habitual negadelphianism.

Not really bud. His YPA is due in part to his lack of throws and needing the longer throws to keep drives going. I think what a lot of people want to see is more of those short and intermediate passes.

So you would rather see a 4 yard pass to Dotson than a 5 yard run by Barkley? That's your take on what would make this offense great?
