I feel like Nick and Kellen should look at Baltimore's passing scheme for answers to a degree, and they just studied them. If teams are playing zone to keep from getting beat over the top (and basically daring us to just keep running), Baltimore is seeing the same thing I am sure -- no one is playing a ton of man and having guys turn their backs on Lamar. They manage to get guys open for Lamar consistently.

The difference is that Hurts and Lamar are polar opposites in terms of targets.  Lamar's best throws are over the middle mid range type throws.

I don't think these are apples to apples in terms of time but I imagine the percentages of throws isn't that different.

Not entirely true.  You are using 'fixed' instead of 'tweaked'.

They show plays in the first quarter to see what the defense is doing.  They then show a similar look later in the game and run a slightly different play to take advantage of what the defense had shown them earlier.

You can tweak something that performs well, simply to make it perform better.  Fixing something implies that thing is broken. Broken is the wrong word.

"But you see different areas shining in different years. And so, it’s about the team. I don’t care how it looks. It’s kinda my game, and I think that’s something that people have to accept, that it’s gonna look how Jalen Hurts wants it to look. But he’s gonna win.”

Any questions as to why the passing game is a simple as it looks?  It's how Hurts wants it to look.

The race to the bottom for the draft looks compelling...

Travis Hunter belongs on the Raiders

1-8 want to lose at this point.  Chicago has their qb and wants to win to get things on track.  Well, Jacksonville and Carolina sort of have QBs.  But there is no point in winning games this year for them.

I think Carolina feels much better about Young at this point than Jax should feel about Lawrence. My guess is that they don't look to move on from him because there's no sure thing QB this year.  They also may blame Doug/Taylor more than Lawrence for his struggles.

Seems about right

I'd take Larry Fitz over Brown. The guy hardly had a QB outside the SB year with Warner.

Its pretty fascinating that he wants it to look like him not throwing to open receivers, and taking bad sacks, holding the ball too long, and turning it over if he does get to pass it a lot. I dont get it. Why does he want it to look that way?

This should be the exact follow up question by a reporter to his smug 3rd person response.

The first quarter offense is broken.  Sorry you don't see it that way, but that's what it is.  17 points or whatever in the 1st quarter on the season is broken.

I always like what Zach has to offer.  A shame he is aligned with the interminably annoying Bo Wulf.

But we are winning, so move along.

So, you are saying that winning is based on more than just the QB's play.   That's good to know.  A lot of folks would point the EAGLES' win record and try to pretend that that's all due to the QB.   Burrow is absolutely balling out this year.  The Bengals have scored more than the Eagles.  But, their main problem is that their defense is putrid.   For comparison purposes, the Eagles have allowed 234 points, meanwhile, the Bengals have allowed 360!   Only the Raiders (361), Cowboys (366) and Panthers (388) have allowed more.  Hard to win when your defense can't stop anybody.

But, thanks for pointing out the importance of the ENTIRE TEAM for winning in the NFL.  It's good to see that some folks understand reality, even though I don't think that was the point you were really trying to make.

You can do a post search if you want to, but I always stress football is a team sport. But on to your point about the Bengals --- They have to score more points because they aren't winning and closing games out. They have more garbage time stats than this team does --- so if you want to celebrate that, go right ahead.

They can't move off Lawrence with the contract they just gave him -- $93.5mm in dead money with a post June 1 cut this offseason. They'd need to trade him, and can't imagine anyone taking on that contract. They'd likely have to do an Osweiler to move him.

I think it's cute we have to always give a guy who played in the 30s and 40s. Kindly F off with this, he played against milk men, Justin Jefferson run laps around this dude.

Make a secondary list with dudes who were elite during their era but don't tell me he is a Top WR of all time.

Antonio Brown is too high. Not even sure he's top 10. Also obviously missing Fitzgerald.

Yup. When there are going to be very limited opportunities by design, you can't afford to miss the ones that present themselves. Every QB misses shots, but it will be magnified for us given the small number of passing plays. Jalen has to take the shot when it is there.

he does, i feel like anytime hes throwing i am begging him to get rid of the ball...i want to see him drop back, set his feet and throw like i see qbs do consistently across the nfl
