I don’t follow baseball, but I did follow the team in 93. Didn’t know he retired mid-game.

It was in '95, I believe.  The last game of the season, he got a hit in his first at-bat, it put his career average up to 0.300, and he retired before he could have it drop back below.

EDIT:  Checked... he retired in '95.   Same story though, just the wrong year.

It's definitely weird. Did they just not want to play or did they need to go take a crap

I’m guessing just didn’t want in the game. I would think if they had to take a dump, they could do their business then come back.

If they don't... the Vikings won't knock them off in the final week, or more exactly, it wouldn't help us even if they did.  15-2 tie with the Vikings still leaves the Eagles on the outside looking in.   15-2 tie 3 way is no better... they do the division tiebreaker first, and then leaves us against the Vikings again... with the same result.

The 1 seed is getting less and less likely.  It really went away with the GB game going to the Lions.  That was our last best chance.

I see your point so we are dealing with two problems.  Minny on our bumper while we are on the Lions bumper. Here's the thing, yes we clinched but at the end of the day we have Week 17 for a Defacto-Bye if it comes to that.  They have to win these next 3 games and keep the heat on both Lions and Vikes.  My hope is this::

#1 Eagles - 15-2 (Wins out)

#2 Lions - 14-3 (Drops 2)

#5 Vikings 13-4 (Drops 2)

Wow, 30 years now. I think I did watch a little in 94, but didn’t finish the season.

Neither did the MLB.  That was the strike year.   They started it but never finished it.

Pretty good work here dissecting this play by Fran

Patullo, Moore and Nick, this one is on you

Got this from Diehards so the article is protected.  Fran has a great chart showing the % of +4.0 reads.  Hurts leads with 22.2%.  That said, the other leaders on that list are pretty much on the list of QBs preferred by those that would replace Hurts.  And frankly, the ones in the 14-15% grouping would get killed with their OL if they had a higher percentage.  Jackson is 19.8% and Allen is 17%  Mahommes is 15.7%.  All three throw better when scrambling than Hurts.  I noted during practice this summer, at least one clip showed the QBs practicing throwing on the run.  I think he starts looking for lanes to run and focuses less on the receivers.  That said, the receivers aren’t the best at the scramble drill.  That’s on Patullo (I don’t know why he gets a break from criticism as he is the constant during Nick’s tenure.). Moorehead has a role in that too.

Now this is where I get accused of making excuses.  I said earlier, that I think Hurts has made some improvements as a QB and has the best QB coach he has had in Nuss.  Folks, he is reading multiple receivers better than ever.  Unfortunately, he is still slow but actually a bit faster.  Note that on the play repeatedly cited here, Fran notes he progresses off of AJ about a half second too early. Mi think he is right that Smith was the hot read on that play.  So he went through three progressions. That’s a significant improvement from when he was drafted.  Undoubtedly progress to be had but that’s the mantra in the Nick/Hurts era. But as AJ points out, everyone has room for improvement

That said, Saquon has been solid in pass protection and Gainwell continues to do well there. Hopefully they are helping Shipley get better at that.

. So, the Big Fundamental gets knocked down because he was just awesome but didn't have the wow factor?

Tyreek Hill as a top 10 WR?   Please.   That's extreme.

Yeah I don't think everyone agrees with that, but there's reason it took Bruce so long to get into the HOF. I'd take Hill over Bruce, no question. Nothing against Bruce.

Tim Duncan vs. Shaq is an interesting conversation. And yeah I'd pick Shaq too.

That's ok.  Bruce isn't in my top 10 either.

How does Kevin Patullo get no criticism? Does the media just assume he's Sirianni's gloried executive assistant? The "pass game coordinator" has coached a massively underachieving pass game for 2 years straight.

where are the good quotes fitting the the scenario where the person posting a ralph waldo emerson quote is actually in the wrong?

Did a famous person ever say "Im sorry. You were right all along?"

More and more people are coming to that realization. I have faith in you to get there one day too.

Or were you talking about Hurts' little mind? If so my mistake.

I am confused. If the Eagles win out, why do we require the Vikings to drop two games?

We need Detroit to lose two games. The problem is those two games would probably be the Bills this week, and you would think Minnesota in Week 18. I can't see them losing to the Bears or the disinterested 49ers. Then if Minnesota wins out they will get the #1 seed. That is not what we want.

If Detroit loses to the Bills this week and then wins their next two games, they will come into a head-to-head with Minnesota in week 18. If Minny drops one on the way (say the Packers the week before), then no matter what, they are locked into the fifth seed. Which most likely means they will use week 18 as a bye week.

Unless Detroit and Minny lay a complete egg over the next four weeks, I don't see a pathway for the Eagles to get the #1 seed.

This is a low effort retort.  Do you not have google?  The appropriate response is:

I said that so we get the #1 Seed comfortably.   We all agree that Lions could lose 2.  But nobody is talking about Minny could too.  They have Greenbay and Seattle, both playing for the Playoffs.  Then they also have division game against the Bears and Lions.   Again I'm basing this on the Eagles winning out going 15-2.   Because a 3 Way 14-3 tie, I don't think we get the #1 Seed based Minny and the Lions have a better SOV.

Sterling Sharpe (yes, I'm putting him on the list, despite the injury... just like Gale Sayers belongs in a conversation about top 10 RB).
Marvin Harrison
Bobby Mitchell (worth researching his story for anyone uninitiated in who he is, and what he accomplished.)

He retired in '95.  I updated my post once I looked up his retirement year.
