This whole season between performance and image/press conferences/status, it’s felt like Saquon is one of the only adults in the room. Mailata is up there too. That’s usually supposed to be the quarterback’s job but they’ve taken it on. Used to to think it was Graham but then he had that dumb quote this week that he had to retract. You can’t feed the media anything and guys like Saquon get it. People complained about paying an RB top money but he’s been worth every cent. This team has 4 wins at best without him and him and the defense are their only shot at a Super Bowl this year. He’s been worth every cent.

What had the QB been feeding the media?

They are almost guaranteed to have nothing to play for in Game 17... so he needs to average almost 200 per game over the next 3.

If he can get within 50 by the last game, I think he suits up and goes to get it.  But, if wouldn't feel as special in game 17 as if he did it in 16.

That said... I think he can do it.  The bigger question comes if the Eagles are mathematically locked into the 2 seed before game 16... do they rest starters for 2 weeks or just 1?

What are you on?  Unless the Eagles lose some games here to take themselves out of the running for the #1 seed then there is no chance they rest starters the final 2 weeks.

If Bryce Huff can come back with some fresh legs, and make a difference as 3rd down pass rush specialist that would be a big deal during the potential Rams/Vikings/Lions playoff gauntlet where you need to get those QBs off their spot. I like to think he was starting to turn a corner a bit at least in his role before he went down. A little more pass rush may be be the final piece of this defense.

Agreed.

He WAS playing better before he got hurt. At a minimum, he needs to take away Nolan Smith's 3rd down pass rushing snaps.

He is in year 5...

So basically a rookie.

Reposting this.  Lotsa time, but no deep passes.

Only the past four games, however, which come after the two-turnovers against the Cowboys during week 10.

Fits the hesitancy narrative well.

Here are weeks 1-10.  Similar time, more deep passes.

Why did Jalen miss 2 games in 2020, can’t seem to find anything about it on google

Probably just healthy scratch

Yep, just looked it up. He was a healthy scratch Week 1 of the season but then played every game after. He only missed one game though. This was the last 16 game season and he was active for 15.

Just saw a pff YouTube video where they went back and re-drafted this year’s rookie class (knowing what they now know about this season).

Q went #11 to Vikings (3rd defensive player…Verse and Latu went top 10).

Cooper went #19 to Rams

TIFWIW…just their opinion.  But I do not think it’s a stretch to say that we got two top 15-20ish talents in this draft.

It's frustrating.  Both Smith and Brown can catch deep balls while covered.  Same for Barkley.

Guess "I hope” has a different meaning to you. I see Jason’s faults but I think only seeing his faults is a whole lot more selection bias than me also noting where I see growth.  I guess you assume that Q will never be able to regularly make interceptions rather than PBUs? Cooper must be toast now after his game last week? Time to give up on Jurgens for his mistakes this year?

Hope isnt a plan.

this isnt about possible, its about probable.

and the probability of a qb learning these fundamental elements at this point in their career is rapidly approaching zero

It's called a hypothetical.   And the math makes it a very real possibility.

If the Eagles lose to Washington (very possible, even if we don't want to think its likely) and beat the Steelers tomorrow... and the Lions and Vikings win both of their next two games (also very possible, even if we don't think the Lions can beat the Bills)... The Eagles are at 12-3, and the Lions sit at 14-1, Vikings sit at 13-2.

That puts the Eagles as locked in to the two seed.   The best case scenario would be: If the Vikings lose their next game to fall to 13-3, and then beat the Lions... finishing 14-3... the Lions lose their final 2, finishing 14-3 and the Eagles win out finishing 14-3, the Eagles lose the 1 seed.  The Lions lock up the 1 seed, holding the division record tiebreaker over the Vikings, then win the tiebreaker over the Eagles since they have the stronger strength of victory.   Of course, if the Vikings (win out) or Lions (only lose 1 game) and either finish 15-2... the Eagles lose the 1 seed for obvious reasons.

It's a narrow set of outcomes, but a very real possibility and one that would leave the Eagles with a decision to make heading into the 16th game.  Does it make sense to play the final 2 games all out with the risk of injury looming and no real benefit available?   If you recall, the Eagles sat players for multiple games back in 2004 after they clinched the 1 seed, even though they also had a bye secured.  How much more important might the extra rest be without the bye available.

That was the discussion right after the draft too.  Cooper DeJean might have been the team's first round pick had Mitchell been taken ahead of them.   So happy that there were so many QB desperate teams ahead of us this past year.

There is a big difference between a real possibility and "almost guaranteed".

If the Eagles win their next two games and Detroit loses to the Bills tomorrow, which I believe they will then the Eagles will be playing in week 17. Vikings have a pretty tough schedule coming out with @ Seahawks and home with Packers before heading into Detroit the final week.

Hurts was robbed on the 2022 MVP for missing two games.

Thedre is another wrinkle to the Game 17 situation.  The record was set in a 16 game season.

What’s wrong with Nolan Smith on 3rd down?  The light is starting to go on and I’d rather have Nolan Smith rushing in a critical situation than Bryce Huff.

Cutting down on Nolan Smith’s total snaps considering he’s a small edge getting big snaps for the first time…absolutely on board with that.

I’m going to have an epic meltdown on the blog if Barkley plays in week 17.

I'm thinking he will have another 200 yard explosion in one of these last games. Steelers Defense is no joke, but no Defense outside of the Browns has really been able to stop Saquon.  He just needs to keep doing his thing.  Saquon is lock for an explosive run in any game.  It would be ironic if he needs like you said 50 or 60 more yards and the Giants game is the game he breaks it.  As far as "It won't be the same if he breaks it in 17". I think Dickerson broke OJ's record with an extra game.  OJ did it in 14 games.

Dickerson had 16 games in his record season.  And only 289 yards across his last three games that season.

2022 Hurts on that list is hysterical.  3700 yards passing and 22 passing TDs.  Some of the other guys on this list would routinely do that before a late bye week.

footnote…2021 wasn’t close to being Brady’s second best season.

Surprised Joe Cool didn’t have a noteworthy season, K-gun…

Furthermore, Smith is excellent against the run, and is a tackling machine for a DE.  When Huff returns I would like to see a 3rd and long Dline of Huff-Carter-Sweat-Smith.  Sweat taking the BG role of lining up inside.
