The Giants aren't having any trouble.

Besides, I think it's more fun to sign the giants' FAs down the road after their fan base has gotten attached. Let the giants draft them and starve them from winning and then poach them in their primes when they are the most hungry.

Going from AJ Brown to Malik Nabers will be fun

Gronkowski from SDSU is intriguing as a later round QB prospect. Good size, mobility, decent arm, and was rifling it in the freezing cold today. He's one of the most decorated QBs in FCS history.

Well what's your preference. These type of wins or gun slinging turnovers? There's some middle ground in these but I'm not sure if I've seen it.

The next Eagles drafted QB needs to be a distributor first, and mobile second.  Harder to find those guys and bigger boom/bust potential, but the mobility-first QBs don’t have a championship track record to this point.

I read they tried for authenticity with the vehicles and weapons.  More realistic than comic-book impervious to gunfire and injury genres.

Ministry was a bit over the top with so few against so many in big battle scenes, as I would suspect more SAS behind the lines stuff was less "dramatic" in battle scale, but no less potent for accomplishing goals like blowing important crap up, stealing intel and killing important bad guys.  Just not 100 at a time, lol.

Watched the 1st episode, definitely in the Sgt Rock comic book realm but appreciate the production values that you mentioned and that it wasn’t green screened.

In other news, it looks like entire army senior class is headed to the 101 (ah, in recognition of the Battle of the Bulge).

Think his Edge and IDL versatility is very intriguing.

My man crush for the DL in RD1 is his teammate, Nic Scourton.  That dude is a beast off the Edge. Reminds me some of another great former A&M DL. Myles Garrett. But he will go Top 10 and probably be out of Howie's striking distance.

Which is why Mailata is even more of an outlier than JP.

But yes, Mailata comparison to Hurts is a false equivalence.  Different coaches in the same sport is night and day compared to switching different sports.  Some of what Mailata does in the running game, pulling, etc mirrors rugby, but the dancing bear footwork of pass protection has no correlation.  Mailata has benefitted from the best OL coach of his generation being his coach, but its still a ridiculous transition for Mailata, one that may never be duplicated again.

You have obviously never played rugby if you think the footwork in a scrum has no correlation to line play.  When I graduated high school, that summer I worked with rugby players from Rice, Texas A&M and the Houston Old Men (The Houston team had a relationship with UH but was not made up of only UH students.)  I kept that up through college.  It was club level sports just like lacrosse was back then.  The closest comparison I could give to a scrum is line play in the days of Pop Warner when the line used to link arms. But you are trying to move in coordination with your teammates and direct your motion accordingly. I haven’t played in 45 years but that is my recollection.  It’s a great sport.  I recommend giving it a try.

Hope isnt a plan.

this isnt about possible, its about probable.

and the probability of a qb learning these fundamental elements at this point in their career is rapidly approaching zero

Tell that to Geno Smith, Sam Darnold.  They might disagree.

Thats still Hoping to find an outlier. Almost always a terrible plan

Thank god the NFL has it priorities straight to stop this vulgarity

That he is. But do you recall a play in previous years where there is discussion about Hurts going through three progressions?  I think Johnson was a good QB coach on mechanics.  I think with Nuss he is getting instructions that are focused on technique as well and we are seeing results start to flow.  The more you practice the technique, the better you get at it.  I doubt that Hurts ever has the speed of delivery that Marino had.  Doubt he ever gets a feel for the pass rush like Manning or currently Mahommes.  But you have to be blind not to see  progress.  Look at Sam Darnold, a year older than Hurts and the progress he made with better coaching this year.  I am not saying that Hurts will suddenly flourish into a GOAT, kind of doubt anything close to that.  But I think he is very willing to be coached and takes the information well.

I get you changed your schtick on him and that may include having truly reached your limit on him.  But giving up on a player that is showing signs of progress.  I recall the spring before Mailata beat out Dillard.  Some post by the moniker BigEFly was suggesting that it was time to fish or cut bait with Mailata.  Now granted, we hadn’t seen much with Mailata at that point which is a stark contrast with Hurts.  But then we got to see signs.  But I will ask @just relax to verify my eyes aren’t wrong, but the Mailata we see today at 27 with seven years experience is much better than the Mailata we saw that year.  I tend to be more defense oriented. Look at Josh Sweat and then go back and look at his first few years. Or BG.  Slay is a great example of that.

I am thrilled that Hurts has Nussmeier this year.  Hope Nussmeier’s kid realizes he needs another year of college so that Hurts has Nussmeier next year. I suspect that Jason’s reads and trigger will improve with his coaching. I may be wrong but the fact that Hurts continues to show progress gives me hope.  Maybe it’s residual for me after Wentz, a QB that knew what he needed to work on and never did.  A QB that stopped talking with his coach.  Hurts attitude towards accepting coaching and working with it was and remains a refreshing change from that for me.

Yeah. A little better.

Bummer about Wilson. He's basically our H-Back.

I hope they don't try to overcorrect from Sunday and come out throwing every down if the running game is working. Just win the game. I want the passing offense fixed too, but if Hurts is stinking out the joint then don't force the issue.

Diggs tore his left ACL in 2023.
Unclear if it's the same knee, but that's rough.

FB against Pittsburgh is a great idea. Blasingame is Barkley’s size but a bit slower.  This may be the battering ram game with Pittsburgh’s RBs and the Eagles RBs.

Diggs didn’t have a step to lose. They are not only suffering injuries, it looks like they may have suffered some injuries that may impact return to the same form.

KC cut Wright if they need a kicker

Steelers defense has been more stout against the run than the pass.  Not saying you game plan to throw 50 times, but you start with balance and adjust to what is working well.

Hurts has been playing QB his entire life, is in his 5th NFL season and still struggles with some of the basic things at the position.

Mailata went from never playing the sport to being one of the best at his position in a few years (he was great before this season).

They are not at all similar.

Mailata was a "blank slate" for Stoutland. He had all the physical ability and hadn't developed any bad habits. He also was a good student.

Hurts is a good student, but having played football all his life has developed crutches. It takes much more time to remove those as you play. But it's kind of color blind to act like QBs don't have a chance to get better even after their 5th, 6th, 7th, etc... season. History is full of teams that have given up on QBs, only to see them have success for another team later. What has me confident in Jalen is his willingness to be coached and learn.

I see guys like Flacco that have been in the NFL for 17 years that still occasionally make basic mistakes (like refusing to throw a ball into traffic on a 4th down and taking the sack instead of risking an INT (turnover on downs is a turnover (Football 101)). Any mistake is arguably "a basic mistake" and every QB makes mistakes.

Diggs could probably transition to safety and excel there if  he had to.

None of this has anything to do with what I was talking about

I specifically said 'pass protection' for a LT.  Nothing 'scrum' about that.  It's one on one.

Jared McCain out for the year. 76ers season from hell.
