Really no room for Covey on the team. Who are they getting rid of to bring him up? What snaps is he even deserving of? The team clearly like Anias Smith and they aren't going to release him. DeJean is just as good at PR. The only argument is taking DeJean off of PR softens the risk for injury to him.

DeJean shouldn't be doing punt returns and Covey is better then Anna's Smith who shouldn't even be on the team.

Dump that Barkley fellow.  Just dead space that guy.

Probably IR Huff and use that on Covey. Slight benefit of giving DeJean some rest and not risking him on PR. Long term I’m not sure Covey has a lock on a spot anymore, or at least he shouldn’t.

He was a debacle in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Basically demanded Wentz be thrown away and killed any potential trade value (except Dan Snyder was even dumber), then in 2022 forced Reich to bench Matt Ryan for Ehlinger, then fired Reich and hired Jeff freaking Saturday, who then put Ryan back in...

Is that worse than Jerry Jones never firing his failure of a GM for 30 years straight? Mike Brown not spending his team’s salary cap? Mark Davis trading away players because he doesn’t have the fund to give them signing bonuses?

Good God the 76ers really are awful, aren't they?

It's kinda sad how Covey continually gets very little respect from Eagles fans. The dude is a legitimately good punt returner in the NFL. That's actually a good thing.

DeJean filled in nicely but there's no need to try to make his role a permanent one.

Had to share.

I wouldn’t want Dejean back there anymore bec it would suck for him to get hurt. With that being said, covey has had 1 good year as a returner. He’s mostly meh. Definitely don’t want to see him on the field getting wr targets that’s for sure

Gates, Harrison, Taylor…with Allen being the should have been there 20 years ago guy.  The rest can wait…especially Eli who should never make it but will.

At the risk of being vilified, I have to agree. Ben Smith before his injury was better, as was Troy Vincent. An argument can be made for Lito Sheppard, Slay, and Asante Samuel, none of whom are HOF material.

Ben Smith…the name that escaped me for some reason when talking about what Andrew’s could have been.

I’d argue that Asante is the Rivers of CB’s of that time…HOF career overshadowed by other greats of the time.  Had he caught that gimme pick 6 against AZ in the NFCCG in 2008 he would have won a 3rd ring, he’d have been a shoe in IMO.

Not bad enough. They need to tank and rebuild around the kid. But they won't. They will pick 10-13.

On 39 snaps this season, Covey has 7 catches on 7 targets. On 172 snaps, Johnny Wilson has 7 targets and 2 catches. On 387 snaps, Dotson has been targeted 17 times for 9 receptions.

I like Wilson and am hopeful for his future as he continues to develop. Dotson is underutilized so far, but his usage is probably increasing. Both of these guys are earning Hurts' trust which is the only way they will see an increase in targets. But Covey already has Hurts' confidence and he was carving a nice little role as a WR in this offense before the injury. Nobody really talked about it at all. When the offense struggled in September, people would rightly say, "well Brown is out..." or "Brown and D. Smith were both out ..." but nobody was bringing up that our 3rd WR in targets before he was hurt was Covey and that he was out as well.

I've been very happy with DeJean returning punts, but I still think Covey is even better at that role. As a WR, Covey fits that Cole Beasley role that Moore likes to use and he is much farther along than A. Smith or Johnny Wilson at the NFL level. Covey also has a couple other minor roles on ST such as backup holder if something happens to Mann.

Totally disagree. Ben Smith was way better than Izel Jenkins, but never played better than Allen. The injury clearly derailed a promising future, but seriously, better than Allen? No.

Allen is 21st all time in INTs (54), has 1 more INT than Deion Sanders (career) and 1 less TD return (8). Allen was also a much better tackler than Deion, not to mention Lito and Asante. Vincent was probably the closest to Allen in level of play.

It's too bad we don't have today's stats for the older players. But if we did, people would see more clearly the impact Allen had as a CB. Even after he left and was playing for the saints and raiders, he may not have been getting as many accolades, but that was because teams were avoiding throwing at him.

Allen only missed a total of 7 games in his career. Of his 217 games played, he started 214 of them.

His first year in Oakland at 33 he had 5 interceptions and at 35 had 6 thats pretty impressive at that age and if they weren't really throwing at him

Allen was a pillar of consistency his entire career. He played at a high level as a rookie and didn't drop off a cliff at the end of his career like Vincent did. Allen was every bit (and more) the CB Deion Sanders was. Sanders, though was also a return specialist and that added to his HOF resume. Allen probably could have been, but wasn't asked to do that in the NFL. As exciting and dynamic as Sanders was as a returner, people don't really talk about his 19 career fumbles and as a CB, they forgive him for tackling like a girl.

Ainias Smith blows.  That guy was supposed to provide RAC but looks like he's stuck in quick sand.  An easy cut for Covey who might be a midget but is a good returner and can make positive yardage after the catch.

Dropped a gimme INT in the Patriots Super Bowl that would have sealed the victory against the Giants.  IIRC, it was either the very next play or two plays later that the Tyree Helmet Catch took place, and the Giants went on to spoil the Patriots' undefeated season.

That should be reason enough to put him in HOF. He saved us from the „then hated" Patriots having the perfect season.😅

Just like DeSean Jackson only was a punt returner in key moments of the game (4th quarter / playoff games), same with Cooper once Covey returns.

No desire to see Coop return punts vs. the Panthers.

Interesting observation: Eli is the only QB on that list

Is this Eli's first time on the ballot? If so, he should not get in.

7 catches averaging 4.9 yards. Nothing remotely worth getting excited about. People wanted to run Greg Ward out of town because he was averaging 9 ypc. I could be talked in to Covey on PR to give DeJean you can't convince me Covey needs to be on the field on offense.
