Is this correct though? I was under inpression that if we WIN out and Vikes WIN out the SoV goes in Vikes favour

I don’t think so? I feel like the Vikings have had an easier schedule? Though I guess 4 of their games are against Detroit and Green Bay which helps their SoV.

I dont really understand how it works exactly...but in Green Lights yesterday, they said that we loose with Vikes on SoV....that is why I am asking

I feel like we are headed to a situation where we need to play the starters week 18 but the likelihood is we don’t end up with the #1 seed.

I think we hold SOV now with victories over Ravens and Steelers but if the Vikes win out they'll have beaten Detroit and Green Bay the last 2 games, which pumps their SOV a lot, whereas beating up on the Giants and Cowboys does nothing for ours.

Man, Deacon Jones must be beaming.

With the way that game was going, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tomlin liked his D’s chances of scoring a TD, with the Eagles being pinned inside the 5 yard line, better than his offense keeping the ball.  Defensive coaches think that way sometimes

Bull. Frankly, as much as I like Coop, the other white DB deserves it more. Blankenship has been awesome all season.

And ruin the symmetry of having 2 WRs on one poster and 2 CBs on the other? Smh.

Detroit x 2

GB x 2

Arizona

Rams

Seattle

Houston

Atlanta

Not that they're all great and we've had some of those games as well, but their schedule hasn't been too easy IMO.

Edit: Didn't mean to quote you

What we need is the following;

We need to win the next three games.

The Lions to lose one of the next two games against the Bears/49ers.

The Vikings to win the next two games.

The Lions to beat the Vikings in week 18.

That seems to be the only real pathway there. That will give both of them three losses and the Eagles with only two losses. Since the division would be in play for week 18, they will both play hard against each other and not rest players.

A bunch of games going the right way can flip it, but its a long shot.

Does DET have a similar field surface than the Eagles? Thinking about the downside of domes, namely artificial surfaces and the injuries they cause.

NOTE: the internet tells me that Ford Field uses the same turf as the Meadowlands (Metlife), which we know is awful. Perhaps the Lions are making some of their bad luck…

Goedert has only played in 9 of 14 games this season.  Would we miss him if he weren't here next year?  According to the websites, he'd have an $11M cap hit if traded (Pre-June 1).

Calcattera has shown to be a competent receiver that Hurts is willing to throw to.  He is a pretty good and enthusiastic blocker as the move TE.  Just don't line him up across from a DE.  He is eligible for an extension this offseason.

Also, Uzomah has looked very good as an inline, blocking TE.  Between those two, we really haven't missed Goedert.  Plus, even when healthy, Goedert wouldn't be able to maximize his value here playing alongside Brown and Smith.  He probably has more value on another team.

Thoughts?

Haven't considered him being traded, but absolutely want the Eagles to spend a real draft pick on the successor next year.

I tend to think he’s back next year his dead money is $11 mil and his cap savings to either cut or trade him pre-June 1st is 700k according to over the cap. If you try to deal him I’m guessing due to his durability that you are likely getting a mid round pick (5th likely if conditions are met that could be higher). The year he’s likely gone is 2026. It’s 5.9 mil dead money and 17.9 mil in cap savings according to overthecap. Do think we draft a TE sometime between rounds 2-5 though

I wouldn’t take a substantial cap hit to cut loose a decent player. I do think, like most, that Howie will bring in another Y tight end via draft or trade with the eye towards replacing Goedert. Will he get traded midseason like Ertz… possibly, more likely if a vet is brought in, less likely if the position is addressed with a rookie.

I wouldn't move on from Goedert but I would draft his eventual replacement early in the draft.

Yeah but what if they tie? We’d end up with a better record than both if we win out.

I’m dead serious, by the way.

We won’t make business decisions based on the minuscule chance of a tie.  Besides our backups will probably beat the Giants anyway.  They’re in full tank mode.

I don't think a team would give that much for him.  I could see a team like the Chargers or Colts wanting him.  I also don't think the Eagles trade him unless they draft a TE with a top 100 pick.

Right nows, according to ESPN, the Vikings SOV is well below the Eagles SOV

I think the best thing with Goedert is to hang onto him and draft a kid early with upside. I like Calc and he's a fine back up, but he's not the future.

Have Goedert start and platoon with the rookie next year.

Have the rookie take over full time the year after (if they look the part).

Trading him at this point doesn't seem worth it, because I doubt we would get anything of real value for him

If we both win out, the Vikings SOV would be .442, ours would be .421 based on likely results from other teams.  We'd need our opponents to basically win all their games to flip that.

But the Vikings still play an 8-6 Seahawks, then 10-4 packers and 12-2 lions.

Doug Gottlieb gets posterized quite a bit.  Remember that old interview with Jim Mora, Jr?   He's a complete deekhead, but he ripped Gottlieb apart.  🤣

Exactly. They'll end up owning the tiebreaker if we're both 15-2

Even if the Lions are banged up they aren't going to lose to the Bears or 49ers, I'd have to think.

We will likely be the 2 seed.
