That would have been roughing the passer if it was mahomes

Yeah the two greatest tight ends to play the game didn't have any impact on that.

Ertz didn't have any impact on the Eagles winning a Super Bowl.  Kittle hasn't had any impact on the 49ers making multiple Super Bowl runs.  Greg Olsen had no impact on the Panthers making a run to the Super Bowl.  Goedert just along for the ride in 2022, not playing any role in the team's success.

Gronk had back surgery in 2016. He missed the Falcons/Patriots Super Bowl. Didn't matter.

This is not an anti-TE comment or an anti-Gronk/Kelce comment. It's just that you don't need elite TE play.

You need SOME elite element to the passing game. It can be a TE or a WR and in rare cases an rb

This is correct.  Obviously, it would be better to have the elite TE than not, however, given the limited number of resources, specifically draft pick capital... you can't have an elite player everywhere.  Better to have the elite EDGE and the above average TE, than the elite TE and the above average EGDE.

Besides, the top TEs drafted haven't been first round picks, and the TEs that were are almost often busts, or at best, disappointing.   I think Tony Gonzalez might be the only first round TE that lived up to the hype.  And even more importantly, the delta between top TE and the next highest drafted TE just isn't enough to warrant the pick discrepancy and the value difference.

Does this team not have that already with Brown and Smith?  🤔

Texans need to run the damn ball

The Lions have been so bad for so long that they lost a ton of fans. It’s mostly college now, Michigan and, to a lesser extent, Michigan State.

Did see a Lions fan in Charleston last weekend. He was not impressed by my "Go Birds” but a couple in Eagles gear were and responded accordingly.

Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon

6'5'' 255 lbs

Known for his above-average blocking

Think he would be a great target in late RD3-early RD4

Yeah Greg Olsen, Vernon Davis, Heather Miller, Jeremy Shockey, Todd Heap, Hockenson, LaPorta and Bowers have all been a bunch of TE 1st round busts.

Another nice block by Warren lined up as FB on that TD run.

Damn that was a hell of a grab by dell and terrible seeing him get hurt on it

Looks nasty

Ugh collins took out dell. Hell of a catch

Tank del with a hell of a catch but then gets hurt

Omg that's awful

F!!

Tell me that’s a shifted kneepad.

I can't tell if that was his uniform bunched up or if his knee was dislocated.

They’re not gonna show that again. His lower leg looked like it dislocated from his femur.

This.

Please don't confuse not wanting to invest valuable draft resources on a TE with not wanting a quality TE on the roster.

A more available version of Goedert on day two of the draft would be just fine.

LaPorta was drafted in the second round.

Is Heather Miller Heath's twin sister?

I see your list and counter with Fant, Hurst, Howard, Engram, Njoku, Ebron, Eifert, and Gresham.

Didn't even include guys like Njoku, Mercedes Lewis and Winslow.  Not like there are a ton of GEs going in the first.  In fact I bet if you really looked at it the hit rate of 1st round tight ends compared to 1st round edge players the hit rate is probably just as high if not higher for tight ends.
