I was reading the pregame write ups about tomorrow’s game and ESPN chose to write about the Rams preparing for the Tush Push.  As I was reading their write up it occurred to me that one variation on the Tush Push could be a Barkley leap over the top of the scrum.

Thoughts?

Use someone else to do that so he doesn't get hurt or blast our LB/FB Mike Allstot style through it.

If the Eagles are picking #32 would you trade that pick for a 2025 pick #52 in the Second Round plus 2025 pick #116 in the Fourth Round plus a 2026 Second Round pick?

Trade a 1st then better get a 1st next year.

A job for VanSumeren

In isolation that would make sense, but is a succession plan at TE the most valuable way to use our 1st round pick?

Normally I'd agree, but this is a bad draft class so just pick good players.

Depends on the board but most likely yea. That’s good value. The only thing to consider is do you value the 5th year option and at that pick with a team already well built, I’d guess it’s not a big factor.

I’d be content with Eagles drafting Tyler Warren in the 1st

I'm wondering at what point Jeanty becomes too good to pass up. I think he's a Cowboy in round 1 but you never know. If he's there when the Eagles pick in round 2, I'd be tempted.

I think I understand what you’re doing here.

Jeanty won't make it to 32, but yes I would do that.

It seems a lot of defenses are already leaping over the top for some reason, so I'm not sure leaving one's feet is a great plan on that play. Going airborne also nullifies the "push" aspect.  I have wondered about just putting Barkley under center, but he's probably more likely to mishandle a snap than Hurts.

Let's do the statue of liberty play.  🙃

Or just take the ball under center hand it off to Barkley and take the 6 every damn time.  Or use Van S as the Fullback AND hand it off to Barkley.  Hurts can step out of the way and do that wave that QBs do when they are faking a pass.  Either would be a 99.99 success rate.  Tush push is a little cutesy now and really not needed IMO.

And I agree that there is no reason to get airborne as they like to jump up and over and down onto Hurts.

The Army QB as a running back prospect is interesting IMO.

I had the thought today also of taking a RB in 2nd or 3rd round. It’s supposed to be a strong RB class. Sure Saquon is amazing, but he’s going to finish with a ton of carries. Gainwell is set to be a FA. I’m not certain Shipley is anything more than a complementary back.

It’s worth a dialogue over

I decided what I’m rooting for with the Daniel Jones situation.

I want some trash team in the AFC to pick him up.  One that is not only bad but has no real QB prospect. Obviously time isn’t on his side but he ends up getting a few starts at the end of the year and plays well enough to convince them to keep him for one more as the starter.

Then in 2025 he ABSOLUTELY balls out. I’m not saying worst to first story, but great enough that he is one of two reasonable candidates for MVP.

The other? Saquon.

And we sit back and watch giants fans heads explode.

Sure, just depends who is there. Taking BPA at positions of need has been working out. If a lights out guy is there at RB go for it. If a good WR, G, or DL is there pick him. I do worry about the amount of touches SB is getting.

If we assume Gainwell is allowed to walk as a UFA (I wouldn’t assume that; I don’t think he’ll have a robust market) then I would guess no earlier than the 3rd round — perhaps 4th round again.  I’m a bit surprised Shipley hasn’t supplanted him yet — he’s done very well on KR duty and would like to see him get more snaps on offense in order to make a more informed decision on the need to retain Gainwell.

I haven’t looked at the 2025 prospects yet, but I think the Eagles would like to identify an outside CB to replace Slay, an heir-apparent to Goedert at TE, and a true DE to replace Brandon Graham.

Eagles have Ringo, Rodgers (Slay), definitely need Goedert replacement/backup, but DE....I'd pick like 2 to 3 in the early rounds hoping to Gump my way to success.  Also, they better not f around with Baun and get him re-signed.  I'm not even sure why they haven't done so already.

Jalen won't willingly give up the TD stats.

It's a great RB class. Maybe Saquon nudgers them to take Nick Singleton.

I think folks are overly concerned about Barkley's use.  Back in the day, RBs routinely would get 20+ carries a game.  Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith routinely went well over 300 carries a season and were just fine the following year, and that was back when players could really tee off on runnin backs.  Barkley has never exceeded 300 carries in a year.  This year he is on pace for that, but not by a crazy amount.  He's special, and frankly he's the reason this team is where they are right now.  Gotta let it play out and let the chips fall where they may.

You should add a RT to take over after Lane calls it also. I’m extremely happy about Q & DeJean but Eagles not taking an OT the last draft surprised me,

I have an early favorite for that & thats Cam Williams out of Texas. Way more studying to do on him & his draft range is a little broad right now, but he's that raw athletic freak kind of player. A year for him in Stoutland University & learning behind Lane could be perfect.

Fair point about the carries

It's been 10 long days but the Birds are Back to take over LA.   After flexing the Doug Game out of Primetime. This will be the Eagles last Primetime game unless something is flexed.  Based on the schedule only the Steelers and Ravens games will be flex worthy or maybe the Washington game again but this will probably be our last night game before the playoffs.   Sadly Smitty is out but we still have plenty of weapons to get this done.   The Eagles have won 8 of their last 10 games against the Rams including going 3-0 in LA.
