Garrett would be great in the dream scenario where the Browns are willing to take a 7th round pick, and Garrett is willing to play for league minimum. I don’t want Garrett at the expense of losing several more players that are going to be tough to retain as is

Yep.  The thought is fun, the overall compensation, which would include not signing 2 of Baun, Williams, Becton is not as fun. Now, if all our prized FAs look like they will walk, I'd go hard after Garrett.

I'd still be hesitant just due to the draft compensation. I don't follow college that closely, but I've heard it said this is a good draft for D-Linemen. With BG on his way out, I'd rather stock up on a couple cheaper and younger players.

We’re losing Slay, BG, JB. There will be money.

I also don’t think we trade for Garrett without Huff in the deal.

On the Philly Special podcast, Sheil proposed

Quinyon + 1 for Garrett
2 1sts and more for Garrett
DeJean + 1st for Garrett

IMO, Quinyon is more valuable than Garrett straight up.

After we trade away all these assets, then Garrett’s agent would have all the leverage for a max contract… so who can’t we afford now and/or later in addition to 2 cost controlled players.

Lurie was talking about comp picks the other day. We are going to lose some good FAs.

Hope it's Sweat + Becton. Williams gone. Just re-sign Baun.

And the big money for Hurts is coming up, going up $10M per year for the next few... AND we have Becton, Baun and Williams set to hit the market.   And we're talking about not being able to afford all 3 of them, even knowing who is coming off the books.

No, No, and.... uh No.  It would be ridiculous to trade away known quantities that are so young AND picks for a guy that's coming to the end of his prime.  Just stupid roster building.

Its just garbage noise to fill a podcast

This is Howie we’re talking about. You can move money around. If they want him then they will be able to make it happen.

I also don’t see Baun or Williams returning.

Funny thing is... they could also fill the podcast talking about all the reasons that they CAN'T go get Garrett, just as easily as how they could overpay to bring him in.  There's two sides to the discussion, Sheil chose the provocative side.  It's disappointing.

Well, if Howie is so good at moving money around, I'd much rather they spend it on a guy that's up for DPOY at a position of need in a Vic Fangio defense... AND doesn't cost any draft capital or other players.

So, I'll say it... Baun >> Garrett - all the assets needed to trade to bring him in.

I'd take the swing as we have a pretty young defense overall.  I also don't think the Browns get multiple 1st round picks for him.  If he was 25, maybe.  Multiple 1's for a 29 year old DE who becomes a FA in 2027 and would want a big extension in 30s is very risky.

However, when we win on Sunday and if we know we will lose Baun, Williams, and Sweat I'd give up our 2025 1st and a future 2nd to try and repeat.

We can extend Baun, trade for Garrett for a 1st and recoup some draft capital with comp picks from Williams/Becton/Sweat.

Ringo and a 2nd

Is this the new Thrash + a 5th?

How do we call a player on another team a stud and difference maker, some people throw out trading two 1sts or trading our two young stud corners...then a Ringo and 2nd suggestion?

In an ordinary year, I'd agree, but if you look at the upcoming FA list, are there any FA from other teams you say would make this team better? They can treat their own UFA as FA. Rather than having a huge FA group, they can just bring their own guys back and that counts as successful FA.

On the other hand, the Eagles UFA are some of the most attractive players hitting the market. All are in their or approaching their prime and are coming off the best seasons of their careers. Teams are going to want the Eagles players. It's easier said than done to just re-sign your own guys.

Hope the Jalen Carter "illness” is nothing that impacts him too much Sunday. Always something I guess. 🤦🏻‍♂️

What did he say?

For those going to New Orleans, there's an Eagles bar.

Covid is going around.  Hope if he has that, he has already had it for a week or so.

OL/RB needs to pickup the blitz, otherwise I figure that Hurts will run more in this game, rather than throw it away/self sack.

Nit sure who JB is? But also losing Sweat

That was kind of the point… I don’t want the Eagles to spend what they would have to spend.  The only way it would be a great outcome for us is if Cleveland was, once again, stupid.
