The true stunner? Hailee Steinfeld. Blows Bellichick’s bimbo out of the water. Where’s Aidan Hutchison’s mom at? 😍

A reflection on how devalued the ILB position is across the League.

tbh i feel like even if he did there’s a chance voters still give it to Allen or Lamar.

I think this was a generally weak year for any QB to runaway with it. And considering AP was the last non QB to win it, with Barkleys stats being equal/better and hypothetically winning the rushing record, I don’t see how he wouldn’t win MVP.

Look at the Eagles FA list. Some of them won’t get qualifying offers (Driscoll, Gates, Graham, Harris) but almost all the others will.

Zack Baun,
Mekhi Becton,
Oren Burks,
Jack Driscoll,
Kenneth Gainwell,
Nick Gates,
Brandon Graham,
Charles Harris,
Fred Johnson,
Rick Lovato,
Avonte Maddox,
Isaiah Rodgers,
Josh Sweat,
C.J. Uzomah,
Milton Williams
Thomas Booker
Britain Covey

Booker and Covey are restricted.  They will get minimum tenders at best.  Some on this list are vet minimums at best (Uzomah, Harris, Gates, Driscoll). Anyone remember the Mailata/Lane on island chart?  Anyone recall where Fred Johnson was on that list?  He is a journeyman and won’t cost much. Same for Driscoll. Maddox is done. If Shipley can Pass Pro, I think Gainwell may leave although the fantasy of him as a lead back is absurd.  He may get a bump or he may not.  Burks has pretty much done this year what he did previously in his career.  Suspect he would get a similar offer.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Howie has offers ready to go at this point.  But he also has priorities and probably has even heard about expectations of the players already.

Sidenote:  I suspect this is Lovato’s last ride.  I believe his inconsistency has been a factor in Elliott’s problems of late and he will be 33 next year.

I think Sweat has been on the move since last offseason.  The rephrasing of his  contract, playing like a contract year, new agent and comment thereafter.

Certain free agents, Howie has addressed already:

Williams - Ojomo

Gainwell - Shipley

Becton - Steen (well Steen was the RG until Becton became available better option, sort of 1a and 1b based on performance and that relates to Keegan as the swing G .)

Sweat - Hunt

Rodgers - Ringo although I would argue that Rodgers was a role of the dice brought in as Ringo development insurance and allowed them to further develop Ringo.

That doesn’t mean the players listed as replacements are equals, just means that holes are filled.  Rank of Eagles targets for extension suggests ILB (Braun) should be the highest target.

Allen deserved MVP, so kudos to him.

I view it more this way even if he broke it, I think there’s a lot of voters who would’ve said he’s gonna win offensive player of the year and still voted for Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. Looking at the voting, I thought he would have way more than 0 first place votes and 1 2nd place vote. He got one total. Imo He should’ve had way more than that and he didn’t. I feel like the voters knew he was gonna get offensive POY so they were more willing to give it to Josh Allen or Lamar. Since it was a weak year for a QB to runaway with it, I still would’ve thought Barkley would’ve ended up with more first and second place votes than what he got.

Stats don't matter

Awards don't matter

So how do players get big contracts and into the HoF again?

They might as well call the MVP the QB trophy. Barkley is the true MVP while the voted "MVP" is chilling on his couch. Also the coach of the year couldn't even win a playoff game. I would say Washingtons coach. Also how is Baun not comeback player of the year? He went from a ST guy to an all pro linebacker?

Lamar was voted 1st team all-pro over him by the same group of voters who vote mvp

This is only the second time in history that has happened

I can actually see that, given Lamar’s production vs Allen’s importance to the team.

HOWEVER, if you’re going to use that logic, then Saquon has to be #2 in voting. Lamar had Henry in the backfield while Saquon had a very pedestrian passing attack behind him.

I haven’t done those since 8/04/2001.  The fact I remember the EXACT date nearly a quarter century ago is all you need to know.

Plus I'll be wearing this, which would be a recipe for disaster:

Listen carefully when Sheil Kapida predicts an Eagles SB win.  I'll post what he said before the last Patriots Super Bowl next.

We might boo Santa, but at least we don't get children drunk

Well if my team won the SB ever again I’d get Santa so drunk he would miss Christmas Eve 10.5 months later. The children would be so upset you would wish they were drunk too.

Congrats on the Eric Allen news.

Can you imagine if Vic pulls a Bill 2005 move and comes in with some different defensive looks like Carter at DE? Carter, Williams, Ojomo, Smith would be an interesting look rushing the passer on some downs.

NFL Films used to do special videos for the Championship games (and Super Bowl), did they stop doing that? I haven't seen one for the NFCCG, like they did in 2017 (I don't remember one for 2022, either).
