What’s the blog’s consensus on Jared Allen being a hall of famer?

Based on memory, he doesn’t strike me as hall of fame worthy. Never a truly dominate player. Consistently very good but never the best defensive player in any given year.

He had 22 sacks one season and led the league in sacks twice. He had eight seasons with double digit sacks. Clear hall of famer.

First time eligible players and one coach for the 2026 class include:

Frank Gore.  All-time Eagles great.

Brees, Fitz, BB.  Witten may or may not be first ballot but might have to be 2nd since Brees, Fitz and BB will be first ballot locks.

Still one of the best things to come from that

I'll go with Brees, Fitzgerald, Jared Allen, Bill Belichick.  I don't see Gore being first ballot.  I get that he has (exactly) 16,000 regular season yards but that was over the course of 22 years.

Yeah the only real knock was a lack of a ring, but I really hate that being held against players for the HoF.

You aren't missing much.  Then again, not having the other major chains you wouldn't be missing much either.  None are as good as a small mom and pop.

Wood fired is best. Can’t get that at any national chain.

Impressive by Jared Allen to be inducted twice

If I didn't see it last night, it doesn't count.

Wonder if Carter was actually sick.  I kind of thought from the beginning they should have him avoid Super Bowl media days because I'm sure there would be 1,000 dumb questions about the accident.  Maybe I'm wrong but kind of feel like they're shielding him here.  I also think Chiefs are going to do everything in their power to make him react to get a 15 yard penalty.  Hope he dominates them.

Gotta pull for Frank Gore. One of the greatest almost Eagles of all time. I hope Lurie one day puts him in our Ring of Almost Got Here.

brees and fitz are locks as first ballot hall of famers. Witten i think gets in but might not be first ballot. Tend to think gore and rivers will eventually get in

from this past class nominees i think Eli, Suggs and kuechly get in. Holt, Steve smith, Wayne, vinatari are probably waiting longer than those 3.

Man....the talking heads with the Chiefs multiple TEs and RPOs and Andy planning for two weeks are not giving the Eagles any ability to stop them. It's unreal.

He was at media night where all the dumb questions get asked. The only thing he missed was the daytime availability which is mostly beat writers.

It's amazing that he was able to do that considering he's near death and won't play Sunday

This has been going on for days now

There are people who didn't even have Barkley Top 5.

I'm glad the class is small this year, because it's turning in to the Hall of Very Good.

Jared Allen is 12th all-time in sacks with 136, All Pro 4 times, DPOY, and a 5 time Pro Bowler. He had 22 sacks in one season. He was a very dominant player for a stretch of his career.

Jason Taylor only has 3 more sacks than Jared Allen and played 46 more games than Allen.

No one in the 2026 grouping besides brees and Fitz are HOF worthy. A lot of really good but not HOF worthy players. Gore will get in cause he played for 100 years

Foxworth and Jeff Saturday can’t be wrong if they pick both teams!

Is there a reason the HoF class is so small this year?

I think it's a good thing. I'd rather have a small class of true HOF players than fill out a larger class with Very Good players.

Julian Edelman is listed as an eligible HOF player...come on.
