What’s the blog’s consensus on Jared Allen being a hall of famer?

Based on memory, he doesn’t strike me as hall of fame worthy. Never a truly dominate player. Consistently very good but never the best defensive player in any given year.

DEI HoF choice.

He did have a 20+ sack season.

Wonder if Carter was actually sick.  I kind of thought from the beginning they should have him avoid Super Bowl media days because I'm sure there would be 1,000 dumb questions about the accident.  Maybe I'm wrong but kind of feel like they're shielding him here.  I also think Chiefs are going to do everything in their power to make him react to get a 15 yard penalty.  Hope he dominates them.

They have not shielded him in the past.

No one in the 2026 grouping besides brees and Fitz are HOF worthy. A lot of really good but not HOF worthy players. Gore will get in cause he played for 100 years

We hate witten cause he’s a cowboy but he’s going to eventually get in. Was first team all pro 2x and second team all pro 2x (11 time pro bowler). He’s 2nd in receptions and yards all time for a tight end and 6th in tight end TDs all time.

I'm not going to look and just assume they all have ties to the Giants.

Foxworth and Jeff Saturday can’t be wrong if they pick both teams!

Probably because of the fake news about Carter (RIP) playing Sunday.

I think it's a good thing. I'd rather have a small class of true HOF players than fill out a larger class with Very Good players.

Julian Edelman is listed as an eligible HOF player...come on.

I don't mean to just put anyone in but Adam Vinatieri is deserving and will get in at some point. He could have made it this year.

Torry Holt also deserves it and has been eligible forever.

I hate to see players like Holt and Eric Allen have to wait forever to get in, especially in years they don't even fill out the class. Then next year they go against Brees and Fitzgerald which means Holt gets snubbed again.

The Philly bias is real - I said weeks ago Saquon would be the only one to get recognized as the OPOY

Just a theory but i think WR is going to eventually be harder to get into the HOF just cause the way the game is played now and the rule changes they made and voters will hold that against them. Like smith, Wayne and holt i tend to think take a while to get in

It's almost as bad as Beyonce winning Country Album of the Year....

Funny thing is that I listen to (new) country radio, especially when driving around this country.  I drove through 31 states last year, several multiple times, including Beyoncé’s home town (and mine) of Houston.  (Listening to KILT, the Bull).  Never heard any of her songs on the radio in Houston.  I did hear one on a station out of Hattiesburg.  Here in the mid state, I have six radio stations preset that play country, including nationwide sets on Iheart and Froggy.  Never once heard a Beyoncé song in PA to my knowledge although I do jump around a bit on the radio.

But that’s the Grammys. Everybody gets a vote.  Winning a Grammy is like getting a Pro Bowl vote.

More bad news for the giants…. Eli manning didn’t make it into the HOF on first ballot lol

This will be talked about every year from here on out every year till his last name gets him in.  He’s not a HOF’r period.  Having him on the ballot is pretty disrespectful IMO.

It's Ok Saquon.   You still have a chance for another MVP on Sunday.   I have nothing against Josh nor Lamar but their overall numbers we've seen before.  Saquon is doing things we haven't seen in Decades.   Anyways, Yes to Eric Allen.  About Damn Time.   Perfect timing with us about to play the Bowl.

Eric Allen gets inducted at age 59 during Super Bowl 59.

Tbh i think he gets in eventually. Tend to think rivers does too. But the reason Eli eventually gets in is cause of the two super bowls and beating Brady in both. Add in his consecutive games played streak. Plus his name i think gives it to him

Probably. But Holt was mostly early 2000's so I don't see why they would hold that against him.

I expected Keuchly to make it in. That's really the only mild surprise I had with the HOF. But they're stingy with the first ballot nods

I think people are going to hold him retiring early against him, for whatever dumb reason.

First time eligible players and one coach for the 2026 class include:

Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Jason Witten, Frank Gore, Philip Rivers, Bill Belichek...who makes it?

Fitz and Witten if the world is right…Brees second or 3rd year, Rivers eventually (Marino/Moon of the era of the QB IMO, terrible coaching and team decisions kept him from a SB).  Gore would be a hall of great vote, stats are tied to longevity to me with him.  He was never the best, but he was consistently a top 5ish RB during his tenure.  Billy B i think will get held onto till he officially retires retires and the rumor mill on him coming back dies down.

Is there a reason the HoF class is so small this year?

Was curious too and I guess it's because of some new rules that were added

New rules were instituted this year after a push by Hall of Famers to make the Hall more exclusive and it led directly to the smaller class. The modern era candidates were voted from 15 down to seven in the final stage, instead of five in past years.

The 49 voters then got to vote for five of the seven with anyone reaching 80% or finishing in the top three getting into the Hall. In past years, the five finalists all got an up-or-down vote with all five getting in for the past 17 years.

Took Isaac Bruce 6 years to get in. Holt is on year 11. Bruce played longer so he finished with more receptions, yards and tds than holt. Frankly think holt should be in. But i do think voters are using rule changes against even though he played half of his career prior to that and put up ridiculous numbers during that time

I think Rivers deserves it over him personally.  You can’t deny his 2 rings and SB MVP’s.  We may be jaded as Eagles fans since he was a giant, but there wasn’t a single point in Eli’s long career where we even worried a single bit about Eli.  He was our B in the regular season and playoffs.  I think it will be interesting to watch.

I really need to dive into this class and how many times they’ve been up.  Sharpe seems like a weird choice.  Gates is one of the best to do it at his position (almost revolutionized the position creating the modern TE).  Allen, I never considered him one of the GOATs, but stat wise, his career is 100% HOF worthy.

Yeah the only real knock was a lack of a ring, but I really hate that being held against players for the HoF.

I almost hate that it’s used for players for the HoF too…see Eli.  It’s a weird catch 22.
