I could use some help with the Super Bowl offerings for game day.

My wife is starting out with some Type 2 Diabetes and I'm looking to create a menu that she can enjoy while still being festive.   She loves bread, but that's generally on the no-no list now.

So, I'm thinking one thing that might really be nice for her to have as an option would be a charcuterie tray.   But, I'm not well versed in what those options should be.  I was thinking about some 3 cheeses (1 soft - brie or camembert, 1 hard and funky - gruyere or extra sharp cheddar, and maybe a soft spreadable?), 3 meats (various salamis), and that's where I get stuck... what other things would be good options to add?

Not charcuterie related, but a sausage crust pizza with no sugar added sauce and healthy toppings is a way to enjoy pizza for game days with little to no carbs. You cook ground sausage in a skillet as a base for your pie. Add light sauce. Top with cheese and toppings and then bake from skillet in the oven.

It is tasty and mostly diabetic friendly.

tbh i feel like even if he did there’s a chance voters still give it to Allen or Lamar.

Neither Jackson nor Allen win OPOY or DPOY yet outpoll both winners for MVP.  Borders on stupidity as does the fact Jackson was viewed a more All Pro QB, in other words won the best QB award from the same voters.  If Allen isn’t the best QB, isn’t the OPOY and didn’t play any D so obviously not DPOY, that makes the MVP seem like lipstick on a pig concession award.

giardiniera, olives, thinly sliced pears and apples, apricots would all do nicely with the meats and cheeses. Don’t forget the gabagool and mortadella in addition to the salami.

It all depends on your interpretation of "valuable".  To me, it basically implies the voters' interpretation was Allen was playing with scrubs and dragged them to the end of the AFCCG.

Sure is. But not cholesterol friendly! .  I had one like that at Lou Malnati's in Chicago!   Was so good.  But it took a week for my chest to stop hurting!

Kay Adams has an MVP vote?  Seriously?

I'm surprised she didn't cast 5 votes for Burrow

Kay Adams asked Joe Burrow about the last time he was 'satisfied' with fans having a field day

Not sure if posted already:

You've been on a lot of my posts specifically lately. I'm starting to think I have a stalker

Buddy of mine wrote a spec script called "Stalkers."  Took a studio meeting and the notes were: "we like it but take out all the stalking and change the name."  🤣

Staley has had quite the drop over the past couple years. Believe the niners also hired Gus Bradley to help with saleh

🤣 This can be an issue. Using lean ground turkey sausage might not taste as good, but it has far less cholesterol. Go light on the cheese and heavy on the veggies.

First time eligible players and one coach for the 2026 class include:

Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Jason Witten, Frank Gore, Philip Rivers, Bill Belichek...who makes it?

Should be all of them but they will let Witten and Gore stew for a couple years.

So happy he got in. About time. Eric Allen has been one of my favorite Eagles my entire life. Used to draw pictures of him as a kid. The main picture they used for him caught me off guard because I don't remember him wearing that facemask at all. He changed it up a bit as an Eagle but the main picture they used doesn't even look like him because of the gear he's in. I thought that was Bobby Taylor at first glance.

Spoiler

1995 SP Bobby Taylor Rookie G32 Philadelphia Eagles #85

That one is actually Bobby Taylor, not Eric Allen.

I am not going to argue that Allen shouldn't get the MVP.  I think they are different awards.  Allen did not have the kind of production that Barkley had but without Allen the Bills probably don't have a playoff roster.  Barkley made a big difference for the Eagles but he elevated a very good roster.

What’s the blog’s consensus on Jared Allen being a hall of famer?

Based on memory, he doesn’t strike me as hall of fame worthy. Never a truly dominate player. Consistently very good but never the best defensive player in any given year.

Allen was a complete player, against the pass and the run.  I see him as a HOFer.  Plus, he wasn’t a streak player, every down, every game.  Take Eli, who didn’t make it.  Very streaky as a player.  Allen deserves it more than Eli.

Same here.   I'll have to make it homemade, she doesn't like the prepackaged stuff, which is frankly, subpar.   I asked a Greek friend the secret to good hummus... he said, "Garlic".  I said "what about it?"  He said, "Add more".  I said "How much?"  He said, "more".  I said, "How do I know when I've added enough?"  He said, "You won't, just add more."

Good advice. We have one store bought option over here that is rock solid but all the others suck.

btw - I meant bell peppers not paprika, haha. Paprika is the Swedish word for bell pepper. Doesn’t happen often but on occasion a Swedish word will sneak in there when I’m multi tasking.

Same could be said of Burrow

Tbh the reason burrow didn’t get more love is cause bengals missed the playoffs. If he got them there with that horrific defense i do think he’d have gotten more votes

Fitz is a first vote HOFer to me. Witten should.  Gore gets the longevity award, but HOF is questionable to me.  Brees probably gets in but not a first round selection for me.  BB will probably be ineligible after his buyout in NC midseason to replace Kellen Moore in NOLA.

Fair. After looking at his stats more closely, he’s clearly HOF worthy by the numbers. Again, I was never exactly wowed by him, but the wow factor is not criteria for the HOF.

Burrow had ridiculous numbers. Led the league in passing yards and passing tds (3rd in Qb rating and qbr). Don’t think he was as worthy as the 3 guys who finished ahead of him. But I do think if he got them to the playoffs, the voting also would’ve looked different.
