The only good thing about losing KM is it's happening early this time so Howie can look for his replacement before a week after the SB. Hopefully, he saw the writing and is speaking with Frank or whomever. They also are hopefully telling the DL coach he can become DC here in a few years when Vic retires vs going to a crappy NO team nobody wanted to go coach.

Part of the reason the Eagles got screwed was because Gannon wasn’t upfront about the Cardinals coaching job and he screwed them. I kind of think they already know that there’s a good possibility that Kellen Moore is leaving and I’m guessing he’s upfront with them about it. they probably have a list of guys in mind that they are interested and reached out to telling them the situation. The Eagles offensive coordinator job is a pretty nice job. Ā you’ve got a ton of pieces and good chance you are going to be at the front of the line for a HC job if you do well here. Unless they go someone like Frank Reich who’s probably not getting another HC in his career.Ā

How embarrassing for McCarthy and the cowboys.

Cowboys keep McCarthy over Moore

McCarthy continues to suck

Moore potentially beats out McCarthy for a HC job

Ā

cowboys had the better coach, and made the wrong decision.

Ā

We don't know yet how Kellen Moore will be as a HC.

I think way too much is being made up about Ertz "carving up" the Eagles defense. Ertz was washingtons big 3rd down target and has been for the whole season, this was nothing new.Ā

While Ertz had 104 yards, how many did McLaurin have, or Dyami Brown? It seems like the Eagles forced the washington offense to go through Ertz, who's not know for his YAC, so they would have to dink and dunk their way down the field.

I say trade him to the Jets for their first

This is just in general over mahomes career as starter, but since Mahomes has taken over as the starting quarterback, the last two years with Matt Nagy as OC has been the worst scoring producing with mahomes as starting QB. They averaged 21.8 and 22.6 over the last two seasons. Prior to that they averaged 35.3, 28.2, 29.6, 28.2 and 29.2. Some of this is lack of great playmakers in 2023 and guys got hurt. (also oline isn’t as great as it was early and even 2022 with mahomes). Some they’ve transformed into more of a defensive team with mahomes coming up big in big spots. But there’s definitely been a significant drop off in their offense since Nagy became OC

You can go back even further. Just checked, the last time Reid had an OC that wasn't Nagy or Bienemy was back in 2016 with Childress. No teams in the league are looking at either of those two guys as serious candidates for HC now because they know it's Reid's offense. The Bears somehow thought Nagy could replicate the offense in Chicago, but that obviously turned out to be false.

He sure as hell is a better bet than Brian Schottenheimer.

Agree, we let them have Ertz and outside of the McLaurin TD their WRs did nothing.Ā  However,Ā  Kelce is much better than Ertz.Ā  He can turn an 8 yard reception into 25 yards.

But they don't have a Terry at WR

As far as some comparing the teams to two years ago - The Eagles are a much Ā better team, especially on defense. Ā

The Chiefs, imo, are not. Ā Their offense isn’t as good as it was two years ago and depending on who you ask, their defense is either slightly better or about the same as two years ago.

So where does that leave us? Ā Coaching, game planning, execution and most importantly - situational play calling and situational execution.Ā

The first 15 plays of the Chiefs offense will be "The Andy Reidā€ scripted game plan. It will be the plays designed based off of what Reid has seen as "weaknessesā€, "flawsā€ in our defense and it will be based off of creating mismatches, etc.Ā

Depending on the outcome of those 15 initial plays is what the Chiefs will do moving forward on offense. Ā If they are highly successful, expect the same plays or slight variations, similar plays, etc. Ā

If they are not highly successful, expect to see Mahomes taking the lead - freelancing, etc. Ā

The most likely scenario is that we will probably see a little bit of both throughout the game. Ā

That means our defense should be prepared to make adjustments based off of what we expect the Chiefs to do.

Ā If their initial 15 plays are successful - we should adjust accordingly.

Ā If they’re not, we should adjust the scheme to potentially counter Mahomes freelancing more, etc.Ā

Of course. this is an over simplification and there’s a lot more to it but it’s the general idea of how we should approach an Andy Reid/Mahomes offense, imo.Ā

Ā

There's no way the Eagles let Kelce do what Zach Ertz did. Zach is still showing burst and feistiness. Kelce is not running through peeps like before. Lost a step just from last year. Maybe playing through that bone bruise last year affected him and age of course. Gonna come down to Worthy and Hollywood IMO making some big plays. Hopkins has been pretty invisible lately. Mahomes will spread the ball out just like Brady used to do.

Kareem Hunt has had a renaissance this year and gets them a lot of tough yards on the inside. In decent chunks at tImes, as he is pretty hard to tackle. Pacheco was injured and hasn't been the same. This offense misses guys like Rice and Hardman for their big play activity. They will get someĀ  yardage, but believe we can keep this Chiefs team to FG's more or less, while we put up a couple more TD's.

I guess it’s a bad year to laugh at Kevin Costner for trading all his picks for a RB and a LB in the top-10.

Yeah a few years ago he made some statement about looking for the glory hole. Texas oil reference. There was some reality show about oil workers where they kept talking about the glory hole and became a viral meme back then.Ā

I just went back to when mahomes took over as the starter cause prior it was Alex smith and think you were more capped at what you could be and do with smith as the starter as compared to mahomes.

I don’t disagree with you that everybody knows it’s Andy’s offense. It’s partially why Eric B hasn’t gotten a HC job and why Nagy will never again. My point in general was more the drop off has been about 7-8 points per game on average the last two years with mahomes compared to before Nagy came back. I think there’s many reasons for it but i also just think Nagy isn’t a good coach and rides Reid’s ability as an offensive mastermindĀ

Reviewed the All-22. Calcaterra blocked his ass off. He was great. Truly.

That's great news!Ā  He's been so hit and miss this year and missed so many blocks that its hard to feel like we can go into 2025 with him as the starting TE but maybe he's turning the corner.

That's the Commanders effect.Ā  People don't like to watch loser organizations.Ā

When Ertz beat them, it was in coverage against Blankenship with 3 targets for 3 first downs. I don't think the Eagles are going to ask Blankenship to cover Kelce by himself on 3rd downs.

I think a lot of it was game script too. Ertz is a possession receiver, not so much a big play threat anymore. So if you're protecting a lead, you're gonna wanna hedge against explosive plays and be more willing to give up catches to TEs matched up against LBs as the underneath defenders. Fangio, to his detriment at times prefers to use his LBs in coverage against TEs instead of matching up DBs on them.Ā

DAL showing the entire NFL world that they are once again all in...Eberflus will be named DC and some guy named Kevin Koger is expected to be the OC, he is currently the TE coach from ATL...

SO...not only did Jerry fail to hire a HC with HC experience, he failed to even pick up a coordinator that was on a staff that made the playoffs this year...Yeh! Here we go!

Eberflus is a good DC. But I think Zimmer is better.Ā

Agreed. Trading away one of the best WRs in the league probably didn't help either.

We did double Terry a few times. Can see those double calls for Kelce and asking our CBs to cover Worthy/Brown/Hopkins instead.
