They had no answers for anything our DL did. I’m honestly shocked.

Everyone knew the left side of their OL was their biggest offensive weakness going g into this game. Did they just decide to wing it?

They had no backup plan, no adjustment that I could decipher.

If the DL can be that dominant, it takes so much pressure off the LB, S and CB. YES, they still have to do their jobs, but it makes the game that much easier for them.

This is where the Baun/Williams conversation gets interesting. I want both back and I think Howie can bring both back. However, when it comes down to one or the other, I think in the long run, Williams is the more important player. He was the best player on the defense tonight. You can potentially have Williams and Carter together for the next 4-5 years depending what kind of deal he gets.

Yea, it's a loaded DT draft and it'd be great to take a DT at some point, but Williams has become a special player. We KNOW what we have at DT. Edge is the unknown. I'd rather spend and keep this DT group together and take multiple shots at DE.

What was so fantastic about this is that Jalen Carter clearly hits Mahomes in the face, and in today's NFL they could have easily called it a foul. It's the kind of play that we repeatedly see Mahomes get up and wave his arms and cry to the officials until a flag is thrown.

Look at him in the back just laying on the ground and peeling himself off the turf. DEFEATED. Nothing they could do.

The hit to the face happened after the ball was out. And we were also assessed 15 yards for unsportsmanlike. So nothing would have changed had they called it.

LOL!  The worst Kelce.

THEY NOT LIKE US. THEY NOT LIKE US. THEY NOT LIKE US.

I'm almost 100 pages behind.  I can't catch up.  I won't.  I'll make a chart explaining why.

Normally I'm a bit of a pessimist when it comes to the team.  When we pick our final record when in training camp I tend to guess one of the lowest win totals.  But this game, I was confident.  Not rah rah confident but looking at this team I didn't seen any other result other than a dominant win.  Hell.... this was my take that I posted going in:

But holy s***, they surpassed my lofty expectations.  I can't believe I was able to watch us in a Super Bowl, calmly lounging in a couch with schmoopie while sipping on a glass of wine and just letting the game happen.

Like I said, I can't catch up and won't even try today. (maybe tonight I'll try to go back a little)  I'm sure there are some amazing stories from everyone's party that I will have missed.  So apologies for those that I missed but I really would like to share one:

Just like in 2018 I watched the game with my in-laws.  While I come from a small, quiet family of eastern europeans, schmoopies side is a large, loud Irish family.  So.... the perfect environment for game day.  While everyone was obviously pumped for the game, only schmoopie and I came in with the "we're going to destroy them" mentality. Everyone else was on simmer.

As the game went on, it got crazy and gleeful of course.... but the big thing for me was her dad got up on several occasions demanding aggressive high fives just like the first time around.  I've not talked about this on the board but he's been really sick battling a chronic disease that has had him in and our of hospitals.  (Quite a few times we thought he was leaving us.)  For the past year he's lived in his chair trying to manage the pain.  But yesterday?  For a few moments he was that big, strong and crazy Irishman who both brought me in like his own son and yet also scares the ever living s*** out of me.

Oh, and Ellie has perfected the Eagles chant.  Over and over again she said, proudly:

Look at this timestamp.

2:26 left in the 3rd quarter was the first time that the Chiefs got the ball over mid-field in the game.

Screenshot2025-02-10at8_53_08AM.thumb.png.c9f2cfac26ec1863c590e52b68ac5e1f.png

And with 0:35 left in the 3rd quarter they get their first score.

I know some people were upset with the cheap points the Chiefs put up late... but that in no way takes away the absolute drubbing that this team, specifically this defense, put on the Chiefs last night.  That was a good ole' fashioned curb stomping.

Time to check out the KC message board and scroll through the GameDay thread while I sip my coffee.

Not to mention BG was being held for all to see on back to back plays before and on that TD play. Should have come back.

I HAD NO IDEA THEY STOPPED PLAYING THE LOMBARDI PRESENTATION SONG AFTER SB 53!!!

GUYS.

We were literally ONE SUPERBOWL AWAY from NEVER hearing this for the Eagles. Talk about "In before the lock"....

I gotta at least make a thread about this later.

You can relive SB 52 and that song here.

This might be Slay's last game. There were rumors of him retiring if the Eagles won

For some reason I went to Cowboyszone for divisional rival schadenfreude, but yes, KC board is the correct move.

I’m pessimistic as well but I had a feeling it was destiny when I saw this earlier in the week. Couldn’t draw this up in a Hollywood script room.

Today's the day. No doubt in my mind the Eagles handle business today. This team was built for this day. Eagles bully the Chiefs for 60 minutes and shock the world. Not even close. 42-24, after a garbage time score for the chefs. Dominate!

I love it when a plan comes together. 😎

Ojomo as many snaps as Milton.

Imagine how good we'd be if we had a real QB though. Forget the three peat, we would be going for four straight.

Had to one last time for old times.

Let's have a strong draft and off-season. Let's take on that brutal schedule and let's do this all again.

Let's go Hurts. Let's go Barkley. Let's go Defense. Let's go Birds.

Yeah, after the shut out was out of the mix I didn’t care much. The backups have a story, no fluke injuries to our starters and honestly Mahomes might have gotten his limbs ripped off if Nick didn’t call off the dogs.

We all invest so much in this team. Emotionally we do, financially we do, we invest time in this team. We give so much mentally for this team and this is why! Because we are the freaking Super Bowl champions.

Going by track records... I trust this organization to find another DT.  I do not trust them to find another LB.  I just don't.  So, pay Baun, he was a first team All-Pro, after all.  Plus, I think given his history, he may have a bit of a soft spot for playing here.  It was HERE and ONLY HERE that he was given this opportunity and his true talent was put on display.  I don't expect much in the way of a hometown discount, but I do expect that he would prefer to play here for Fangio than anywhere else.  He got a taste of what its like to be a true game changer.  I think he wants that as much as the money.   (Easy for me to say this... but... ) What's the difference between a 4 year, $60M contract and $40M guaranteed and a $80M contract and $55M guaranteed?  The real difference is only that extra $15M in guarantees, but he's more likely to see more of the money on the $60M here than $80M elsewhere.  I think Fangio just knows how to use him and maximize his talents... and Howie might be able to drop in some incentives to raise that for him a bit to make it more enticing here.  Just my two cents.

Flip side... DTs are getting crazy expensive.  CRAZY.  And Milton has never really tasted adversity professionally.  This is his first taste of free agency, and I think he wants to cash in and get a mega-deal.  He's earned it.  The Eagles won't be able to field an offer that remotely approaches what he's likely to get unless Howie has some crazy trick saved up his sleeve.

I think Williams ends up in the $24M+/year range. The Alim McNeal deal is likely the one to focus on as the mark for Williams, and that was 4 years, $97M.  The Super Bowl performance might have pushed Williams past McNeal, and he might get 4 years, $100M-$110M.  I don't see how the Eagles can match that.  I think Baun, on the open market, is looking at closer to $12M+/year.   Tremaine Edmunds' deal might be close to the mark. 4 years, $72M.  He'll likely get a little higher than that on the open market, but not a ton more, IMO.  I think the Eagles can offer very close to that and keep him here.

The last domino to drop will be Becton.  As a guard, he's likely in the $15+M/year range.  (Zach Martin is around $18M.). But, as an OT, he'd go up to about $25M/year.  I can see Howie working out a 2-way contract with him.  He gets the $15M area as RG, and has escalators for moving out to OT.  Best of both worlds... and he gets to compete for another Championship here.  He may be less swayed for the big money contract given that he already got a fairly lucrative rookie deal as a high first round pick AND he knows what its like to play for a loser organization.  I don't think he's willing to go back to that way of living.  Now, if a legit contender offers him big money... then he might jump.  For example, if the Chiefs or even Washington reach out... he might leave.  But, I get the sense that Becton and Baun return.  Williams just seems to be too rich.   Of those 3, he's the one with the greatest upside contract, AND has the most incentive to leave.  While playing here, he'll always be in Jalen Carter's shadow.
