If Mahomes got injured then I'd say Eagles win easy. Respectfully... Wentz just isn't what he used to be

I was all for Wentz, but was he ever really 'what he used to be' or did the knee injury and the ego injury of Nick becoming an Eagles legend, destroy him?

After the season he had, probably gets him kicked off the team

So my neighbors directly across the street from my house are Chiefs fans (I know this because they fly a Chiefs flag from time to time). If we win, I'm planning on flying an Eagles flag (they don't know I'm an Eagles fan, at least I don't believe they do).

Kelly Green, or Midnight Green?

Probably a cumulative effort by everything

I suspect it was ego. And I don't think he got over it for a few years, if at all.  A shame that a talent like that wasn't more successful in the NFL across his whole career.

YES! Do both one on top of the other.

You keep Tanner McKee as the #2 QB moving forward.  He's two years younger than Pickett, bigger build with a better arm.  Much more room to develop from where he is now.  His pre-draft interview on NFL Radio was one of the best I've ever heard -- he had the maturity of a 30 year-old at just 22.  Speaks to his leadership skills and inner makeup.

Draft a late-round QB to develop just as they have with McKee.  Unless Hurts completely stinks it out in the Super Bowl he's bought himself at least two more seasons as the Eagles' starting QB; no sense wasting a high round pick to just sit.

I have a feeling I might be on a lonely island on this one. But I would prefer Pickett at #2 and McKee at #3 next year. I agree that McKee has greater upside and might also have the higher floor. Franky I want McKee around here for as long as they're able to manage it. He has absolutely passed every test he's taken thus far. He's looked in good in every preseason game he's ever played. (And when I say "good", there are some cases where he looked "great".) I remember after one game suggesting that he reminded me of Brady with the way the ball was just casually placed in perfect position for the receiver to catch it. It's a damn rare trait. And he looked good in both actual NFL games he played this season.

But I also don't see the rush in moving on from Pickett. They already paid the price in the trade. It's a sunk cost. And he's not making extreme money at this point. Why not keep him another year? Move on from him in '26 and elevate McKee then. That'd be my plan.

Depends on the return. You can undo some of that sunk cost. If you wait till 2026 you are either just letting him walk in FA or you have to pick up his 5th year option which is $21M and then trading him on that which devalues him.

It's this type of flag pole, so one on top of the other wouldn't work:

That's my thought, like this one:

But I was also thinking of an LIX flag, which is Midnight Green (but would be Super Bowl Champs):

New Orleans is one of my favorite Super Bowl sites.

You could argue Pickett's value is higher now than it was when the Eagles first acquired him. He played good enough to win when Hurts got knocked out against washington and then played well in a blowout against the giants.

Moving McKee to #2 would give him more reps in practice and in games, and would give the coaching staff a more definitive answer. He hasn't really shown that he would be worse than Pickett.

I'm not going to lose sleep over Pickett staying as the #2, but McKee seems to have a lot of potential and the only way to see it is to play.

Long-time Eagles who may be playing their last games with us

  • Darius Slay
  • Brandon Graham
  • Milton Williams
  • Kenny Gainwell

Slay's done a lot for the team. Leave with a ring.

It's difficult to keep track. So that's not the twitter account that makes up stories?

He is citing this story: https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/sports/ravens-nfl/justin-tucker-massage-GLV2V5G6UZBZJIGXDUQVL4QG7U/

It's weird because there does not appear to be a lawsuit.  Tucker, however, retained this guy: https://clarelocke.com/professionals/thomas-a-clare-p-c/ and he's a pretty high price tag attorney.

Have to wonder about Lane Johnson too with that smoke being out there.

Josh Sweat as well.

Haven’t listened to the entire episode but i am slightly surprised TJ Edwards or white weren’t mentioned since Dean went down. Unlike burks but i also think I’d want Edwards or white due to Dean getting hurt and could use the depth.

The mentioned the LBs, but they applied a like-for-like approach.  So White would be the LB replacing Burks.  Not really a material improvement, IMO.  Burks hasn't looked like a JAG backup.

Totally forgot about Sweat.

If Lane wants to retire with a ring, can't blame him. He's still a stud.

Just for fun, I decided to look into this. In 2015, Adrian Peterson signed a 3 year, $42 million contract with the Vikings; in 2011, he signed a 6 year, $86mm contract. So his AAV was ~$14mm over that time. In 2011 the salary cap was $120.375mm, and by 2017 it was $167mm, so the average was ~$144mm, so his AAV was just under 10% of the cap. Saquon Barkley signed a 3 year, $37,750,000 with an AAV of $12.583mm. But the cap in 2024 was $255.4mm, meaning Barkley's AAV is less than 5% of the cap (ignoring the void year deferrals). So we basically got Saquon for half the price of Peterson.

That's some serious value investing by Howie.

I don't own one right now and "Super Bowl Champions" flags aren't available right now, they will only be available if they win.
