I think it's possible Lane retires.  It makes re-signing Becton a necessity.

With his reactions to getting snubbed I wonder if he'll want another season

I also imagined burning the Chiefs flag and pissing on the ashes, but yes that is precisely what I meant.

Yeh and if your'e going to do these things DO NOT fly anything on your property that would give away your preferred team allegiance, do not wear an Eagles jersey, deploy an EMP device to disable all the cameras in the neighborhood (turn off all the breakers in your house first) and...wow, I am putting way too much thought into this...nevermind, I am just gonna get someone in trouble.

Some of these responses are wild. Did the alleged perpetrator not kick footballs very well because of his alleged behaviour? Please... Such a Fed sense of perspective

$40 or $50 for a flag that I'd have to witness being burned would severely hurt my feelings! lol

But look at all those meaningless yards!!!   It's a Jerrah special.

I was all for Wentz, but was he ever really 'what he used to be' or did the knee injury and the ego injury of Nick becoming an Eagles legend, destroy him?

2017, he was every bit of what was expected when they traded up to draft him.

So my neighbors directly across the street from my house are Chiefs fans (I know this because they fly a Chiefs flag from time to time). If we win, I'm planning on flying an Eagles flag (they don't know I'm an Eagles fan, at least I don't believe they do).

Kelly Green, or Midnight Green?

I have a feeling I might be on a lonely island on this one. But I would prefer Pickett at #2 and McKee at #3 next year. I agree that McKee has greater upside and might also have the higher floor. Franky I want McKee around here for as long as they're able to manage it. He has absolutely passed every test he's taken thus far. He's looked in good in every preseason game he's ever played. (And when I say "good", there are some cases where he looked "great".) I remember after one game suggesting that he reminded me of Brady with the way the ball was just casually placed in perfect position for the receiver to catch it. It's a damn rare trait. And he looked good in both actual NFL games he played this season.

But I also don't see the rush in moving on from Pickett. They already paid the price in the trade. It's a sunk cost. And he's not making extreme money at this point. Why not keep him another year? Move on from him in '26 and elevate McKee then. That'd be my plan.

I think the plan would be to trade Pickett to recoup the cost.

I'm not really on a 'hill', but my house is up a bit higher than theirs, so they likely wouldn't see it. Loud Speakers at 4 am blasting Fly, Eagles, Fly! is a possibility though...

Or maybe something like this over my house?

My whole point was the timing of the cap hit.  There's no savings in trading Slay one way or the other.

Agreed, but he'll need cap space starting in 2025 as well as 2026.  He knows best on that how to best use it.

I follow you now. Thanks for the clarification.  We rarely see a situation where a trade and a release have the same effect on the Cap for a player who is a starter.

With that said, a trade could bring back some Draft assets.

That got them 6 rushing TDs for the season... while the Eagles had 7 on Sunday alone.

Depends on the return. You can undo some of that sunk cost. If you wait till 2026 you are either just letting him walk in FA or you have to pick up his 5th year option which is $21M and then trading him on that which devalues him.

Exactly, he's likely at his highest value right now.  Maybe keep him through TC and hope to get a desperate team... like the Vikings.

I'd hope not but he's definitely outplayed his contract. Wouldn't be surprised if he reached majority of his incentives for the season

Almost certain he reaches all the incentives.  Even if not, the team should just give him as bonus.

On his contract, it would be wise to take a good look to add years to it.  He is at the peak of his career and should have few more years of high production.  The OL he runs behind is a critical element of his success.  He should know the value to stick around for longer.

You could argue Pickett's value is higher now than it was when the Eagles first acquired him. He played good enough to win when Hurts got knocked out against washington and then played well in a blowout against the giants.

Moving McKee to #2 would give him more reps in practice and in games, and would give the coaching staff a more definitive answer. He hasn't really shown that he would be worse than Pickett.

I'm not going to lose sleep over Pickett staying as the #2, but McKee seems to have a lot of potential and the only way to see it is to play.

Long-time Eagles who may be playing their last games with us

  • Darius Slay
  • Brandon Graham
  • Milton Williams
  • Kenny Gainwell

Slay's done a lot for the team. Leave with a ring.

Sorry, only BG is a long timer on that list.  5 years and less isn't long time.  10 years minimum for a 'long timer'.

I love this...when  we were in HS we would go to two of our local rival schools field in early September and paint our school initials with diesel fuel from the bottom of the numbers to the sideline. By the time we played them weeks later the grass was dead and your could easily see our school initials...life in a small town...lol. Kids would get arrested for that now.

Have to wonder about Lane Johnson too with that smoke being out there.

Josh Sweat as well.

Yes, Lane is a long timer.  Sweat doesn't make the cut.  Sorry.  7 is better than 5, but still not 10.

Jake...

4 years is a long time! We've turned over a ton of the roster.

Those are rare these days. Free agency has changed everything from that perspective, you just don't get too attached to players anymore. I think it helps my sanity though, I nearly lost my mind when DAL was really sucking it from 82 - 90 (83 being the exception).
