Another point here with Becton. Yes, he's a road grader and this year we featured an abnormally run heavy offense with Barkley and it worked out great. But Steen is better in pass protection. Suspect this offense becomes less run heavy and starts using their expensive set of receivers more next year. I am good with that idea. This was a little one sided this year. I believe they become more diversified next year like they were in the playoffs. Barkely is gonna need a little less snaps too as he gets older. If the hit is to lose Becton to keep our Superbowl defense together I have to do it.

Agree.  We're unlikely to be as run-heavy next year.  If that's the case, swapping in Steen for Becton should be fine, assuming we properly backfill the depth chart.

We need to lighten Saquon's load going forward and like you say we have a stud receiving corp that can pick up the slack.

If Baun's price tag is just too rich for the Eagles blood. Thoughts on Nick Bolton or Akeem Davis-Gaither? Bolton is a hell of a linebacker. ADK is a guy I wanted in the draft.

Bolton is at his best playing downhill and blitzing a lot. I don’t like the fit. Spags did a great job of getting the most out of him.

This is silly. No, they do not WANT rookies who will sit.

We drafted 2 starters last year. If they can play, they’ll start. It’s just that the eagles roster is so deep that it will be difficult for a rookie to break into the lineup.

But we could easily draft a DT, DE, CB, or slot WR who will get starter level snaps.

DT possibly.  Edge definitely.  CB unlikely given Slay, Rodgers, and Ringo to compete with … and Mitchell and DeJean loving down the other two spots.  Not sure what slot WR is.  Do you mean WR3?  Both WR1 and WR2 take lots of their snaps in the slot.

Freaking love him...just says it like it is. He is as frustrated with FO as a lot of former players are, but Emmitt was never about excuses or talk. You are what you are, just do better, fix it, don't talk about it or any other team, everybody has to earn it, professionals understand and respect that, common fans just run their mouth and make excuses. Got to own it.

Emmitt is far and away my favorite Cowboy.

Baun plays both on and off the ball in 5 and four man fronts, making him the skeleton key to the Fangio scheme. You can’t just plug in any old LB.

More RAS compare when considering Ojomo to take over for Williams

I have seen them both play.  Ojomo plays with a very good ancho and routinely sheds olinemen to make penetration.  You also compared them as DEs instead of DTs.  Here is their comparison as DTs:

I still have Peters as #1.  Lane #2 and Jason #3.

Got Lane as #1 based on having hopefully 2 more years of high quality play.

Peters was injured a decent amount (ie Superbowl year especially) and declined gradually his last few years here. The fact that they won a Superbowl without Peters and Kelce puts Lane at number 1 now. I'm scared to think of right tackle when he's gone. He's gone years at a time with out giving up a sack. On top of that Peters had some real terrible and frustrating offside penalties in his tenure. Kelce was not dominant in the beginning of his career and lost some steam in his last year here.

Got:

Lane #1

Kelce#2

Peters#3.

In addition, Peters didn't play his whole career with Eagles, so he loses a couple points there too from a sentimental standpoint.

We lucked out with Mitchell and DeJean, exceptional value at a position of weakness.

We don't have the holes we had after 2023.

And we're picking later. We'll be looking at players like Hunt, who hardly played until the second half, but by the SB had worked his way into the edge rotation.

Hunt made the most of BG’s injury.  Probably wouldn’t have developed nearly as much if BG played every game.

Kind of think it’s gonna be the lions

Been watching some random plays…Nolan Smith is a violent player who packs a punch.  Hes tenacious in run defense.

Nolan clearly understands leverage … and how to maximize it.

Looking at NFL.com mock drafts and the initial mocks for the Eagles #32 pick, it was worthy of a chuckle that two of the writers had the Eagles taking a WR with their first round pick.

Chad Reuter -- Emeka Egbuka WR Ohio State.  AND he had the Eagles trading up to #27 to do it.  Good thing it's a 1.0 -- can't see Reuter sticking to this one

Cynthia Frelund -- Shemar Stewart EDGE Texas A&M

Lance Zierlein -- James Pearce Jr. EDGE Tennessee

Eric Edholm -- Luther Burden III WR Missouri

Bucky Brooks -- Derrick Harmon DT Oregon

Daniel Jeremiah -- T.J. Sanders DT South Carolina

I haven't studied prospects much yet, but I have seen and liked both Pearce and Sanders.  I'm still predicting Jaxson Dart goes in the first round.

Howie has picked guys that have produced in college the last few years. Not guys with just potential

Team could use a CB, LB, DT, TE

LB is going to be interesting BVS will be back as will Trotter.  Hopefully both Baun and Burks as well.

Would you do Elijah Arroyo at 32?

Yes with a trade down, but not at 32.

I don't understand using a 1st rounder on a WR, let alone trade up for one.

Tweeners?  Do you mean like BG?

What characteristics are you looking for?

If I’m taking a DE in the first round, they need to project as a double digit sack type of player. You can do that with speed or power, but he’s got to be a good pass rusher.

I’m just not excited by guys like Landon Jackson or Mike Green, and I don’t think Shemar Stewart makes it to our pick.

I don’t know how anyone could watch both play and think Williams is a much better athlete.

Who's the playcaller in the best scenario (I guess Frank took back playcalling recently in CAR, but Dougie P was doing it here - can't remember the arrangement in Indy)?

No way on Earth you keep Patullo if you pass him over as OC to bring back Reich, and what basis are you bringing Reich back on, that he had a good offense here 7 years ago?

It'd be like when we told Dennard Wilson to hit the bricks and appointed Desai, except there's no offensive equivalent of Vic Fangio to come in and clean up the mess if it doesn't work.

Slay is likely cut, Rodgers is a free agent.

I’m a big fan of Ringo, but he didn’t beat out Rodgers in Fangio’s eyes. A lot will depend on how they view Ringo, but if we are sitting at 32 and Revel or Morrison or Amos are there, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if we take them and they end up starting.

He had a great senior bowl and has all of the physical tools you could ask for.

I think he’s a guy who could have a slow start to his career but end up being a really good player.

Nic Scourton is being mocked to us a lot, he has all the physical tools, a bit raw, but he's young, a pretty solid pick.

I'll add that they ALSO have been around guys like Cox, Graham, Kelce, Johnson, etc. in recent years who got to the top of the mountain, and then quickly fell off the cliff.  Landing at the bottom hurts more when you start from higher up.  I think they want to avoid that, as well as the pain of how last season ended.   That was just flat out embarrassing for all of them (Fangio, excluded) and they want to make sure that sort of thing doesn't happen again.   Losing would suck, but getting embarrassed would be far worse.

I agree. Lane has been through all the ups and downs, Graham even longer. Guys who played for other teams and came here, they know the difference too.

Saw this. Thought the rankings were interesting

Am I the only one that was happy we managed one tush push?  I love jamming it down the other team's throat.  To me it is pure old school football.  The very essence of the sport and a tribute to a part of its roots that you can only really see in rugby these days.

Those NFL fans/experts that call it unfair and want to ban it can suck donkey.  The GB President called it "a play with no skill".  He couldn't be more wrong.  There is a reason we are the only team excelling and it starts with Stout with help from that rugby coach they brought over a few years ago and it ends with our OL and especially our "prize pig" Dickerson.

In the end, I have no doubt they will find a way to get rid of it but for now I'm enjoying every single one of them.

In addition to imposing our will and getting a score, the Chiefs star DT came off the field after that play with a neck strain injury.
