read about him in TDN's DE/Edge primer. Couldnt find anything to watch. Agree he sounds right up our alley.

Here’s a nice cut up of the National squad 1v1s (Mike Green, Oladejo, Ezeirauku, Landon Jackson, Josaiah Stewart, David Walker and some solid DTs - Darius Alexander, Ty Robinson).

For those that didn't see Jerry doing a cameo on Landman, he talked about how he made sure to work with his family.  That buying the Cowboys was an opportunity to do so.

So if you are owning a team to spend time with your kids rather than bring in people who know what they are doing, you get 3 decades with a NFCCG appearance.

Jerry is good for the NFL.  He is bad for Dallas fans.

I actually enjoyed that show, some of it is a bit much but I really like character Billy Bob Thornton plays. As far as JJ's cameo, I thought it was kind of weird and unnecessary to the story line. I can appreciate his story and his family story, good for him for making it big.

He is trying to find lightning in a bottle and get that last SB before he moves/passes on. I can only imagine that Stephen really knows they need to make a move to get a real, qualified GM to run things but likely doesn't say a word for fear of hurting his dad or getting written out of Jerry's will.

The only thing DAL has done positive this offeason so far is resigning/extending Will McClay, who is one of the best, if not the best, talent evaluators in league.

You are correct, he is bad for DAL fans.

Watching the Shrine Game... I just had a realization.   Thursday Night of the draft is going to be long, and likely for no Eagles' pick.  The downside of playing in the Super Bowl, I guess.

Worth a watch.  Eagles Mic'd up from NFC CG.

Everyone should do this by position....2022 Eagles vs. 2024 Eagles.

QB: 2022 Hurts vs. 2024 Hurts.  Despite the solid NFCCG, I am still giving a solid advantage to 2022.  The level of confidence, lack of drama, comfort with higher volume passing...all clearly better that year.

RB: Sanders/Gainwell vs. Barkley/Gainwell.  Incomparable.  Even present-day Gainwell is better than his 2022 version...and probably close to Miles Sanders too.

WR1: 2022 Brown vs. 2024 Brown.  Again, advantage 2022.  More confidence, less drama, less banged up.

TE: 2022 Goedert/Stoll/Calcaterra vs. 2024 Goedert/Calcaterra.  Push.  Goedert is more injury prone, maybe a hair less effective, but he's still close enough and good for this game.  That is compensated by the significant improvements we've seen from Calcaterra, who wasn't really playable then.

LT: Mailata.  Push.
LG: Dickerson. Push.
C; Kelce vs. Jurgens.  2022...but closer to a push than anyone will admit.
RG: Seumalo vs. Becton.  Push.  Seumalo better in pass pro with fewer miscues, Becton draws even because he is truly a weapon in this offense.
RT: 2022 Lane vs. 2024 Lane.  Advantage 2024.  Lane has been healthier this year...they duct taped him through the playoffs in 2022.

Edge 1: Reddick vs. Smith.  Honestly, Smith has been as good in the playoffs as Reddick was.  But you have to go with a prime 16 sack probowl/all-pro who led a defense that was all about pass rush.
Edge 2: 2022 Sweat vs. 2024 Sweat.  Edge to 2022.  Sweat was just better then.

DT1: Cox vs. Carter.  Prime Cox may be in a similar ball park to Carter, but 2022 Cox was not.  Heavy advantage 2024.
DT2: Hargrave vs. Williams/Davis.  Hargrave snips this by only the narrowest of margins.  He was pretty damn good that year.

ILB: TJ Edwards vs. Baun.  Incomparable, 2024.
ILB: White vs. Burks.  Push.

CB1: Slay vs. Michell.  Advantage Mitchell.  (see how I'm doing this one...)
CB2: Bradberry vs. Slay.  SB Bradberry and 2023 Bradberry turned his name into dirt.  But 2022 Bradberry?  I think he was potentially even better than 2024 Slay.  Still, will call it a push.
CB3: Maddox vs. Dejean: incomparable.

S: 2022 CJGJ vs. 2024 CJGJ.  Some will argue the present version is a bit more reliable.  But I'll call it a push.
S: Epps vs. Blankenship.  Advantage Blankenship.

ST coverage: They were a major liability in 2022, not in 2024.  Advantage 2024.
P: Siposs vs. Mann.  Advantage 2024.
K: 2022 Elliott vs. 2024 Elliott.  Incomparable.  2022.

Honestly, I think the Eagles were a slightly better team in 2022 than 2024.  The biggest differences were a defensive choke/turf job in the 2022 SB (hindsight), a different level of confidence in the passing game in 2024, the Barkley factor...and, maybe most importantly, the fact that the Chiefs are a lesser team than they were in 2022.

Why didn't they repaint the field for the East-West Shrine game?

:P

Too funny, I am not even watching the game, didn't even know where it was being played...until I read your comment. Then I knew...it had to be at AT&T. 😁 You know the answer to that question too...Jerry probably worked out a deal where he gave up revenue (amazing but doubtful) to let them leave all the Cowboy paraphernalia (I bet y'all appreciate that reference) on the turf...

"Sure, ya'll come play at the Glory Hole for a discounted rate, just pay me the parking fees and let me leave all the field markings the way they are...I gotta promote my team."

That is hilarious!  I wonder what part of the game that is.

It was the PAT either after the 2nd Tush Push, or after Barkley's 3rd TD.

Seems like half of it is Mailata just laughing maniacally.  He gives BG a run for his money!

Just caught it on the Mic'd Up.  It was after Barkley's 3rd TD.

 That's how I knew it was on a PAT lol. I just watched too.

What the hell Justin Tucker?  Jake Elliott just has the yips, right?

Jeremiah had James Pearce going end of round 1 at 32. I'd love if he fell to the Eagles. Although drafting another Tennessee edge... 😬

Maybe we should give Tucker the benefit of the doubt. Maybe him acting inappropriately was just him singing Ave Maria non stop.

Brady low key rooting for the Eagles.  He doesn't want Mahomes to get a 3 peat.

That’s so cool. Thanks for posting in.

I know it's very early but I'm liking DE Mike Green more and more by the day. Speed, power tenacity, seems like a great great fit for what this defense is and could help make it even better.

For starters:

Mahomes designed running plays multiple times. Very little of that scripted during the season.

two back sets with misdirection RPO’s. I would have to look back but I didn’t see much of that if at all during the season.

Designed roll outs especially on the first couple series. A couple years ago they decided to make him a more traditional pocket passer to limit his scrambling hits. Sunday they pinned everything inside and let him go. That wasn’t happening during the season.

Outside of a few plays they didn’t force it to Kelce at all.

there was a different feeling to the offense. I’m sure there’s more but I need to get to an appointment.

Nothing all that new here: (hopefully no cheerleaders were hurt in the filming of the spike)

Dude's been rolling out his whole career. Sure, they want clean pockets to throw from, but claiming a designed rollout is somehow a rare concept for Mahomes is comical. It's a standard practice for Reid inside the 10 yard line. It's kind of like the shovel pass --- I'd be amazed if Andy doesn't call it at least once per game.

As for Kelce, I'm not saying they force fed him the ball, but he did have almost all the receiving yards.

Who would have ever predicted such an original script from Andy Reid?

I agree.  Howie will almost surely be trading out of Round One.

F it.  Elliott for Tucker, straight up.

I have a feeling I might be on a lonely island on this one. But I would prefer Pickett at #2 and McKee at #3 next year. I agree that McKee has greater upside and might also have the higher floor. Franky I want McKee around here for as long as they're able to manage it. He has absolutely passed every test he's taken thus far. He's looked in good in every preseason game he's ever played. (And when I say "good", there are some cases where he looked "great".) I remember after one game suggesting that he reminded me of Brady with the way the ball was just casually placed in perfect position for the receiver to catch it. It's a damn rare trait. And he looked good in both actual NFL games he played this season.

But I also don't see the rush in moving on from Pickett. They already paid the price in the trade. It's a sunk cost. And he's not making extreme money at this point. Why not keep him another year? Move on from him in '26 and elevate McKee then. That'd be my plan.

I think that it becomes a matter of value on a couple of perspectives.

  • Pickett’s fifth year option expires this spring (low value to the Eagles but may be to a QB less trading partner
  • Pickett has a winning record as a starter
  • Eagles value back up QB so we have to figure Howie will want to extend one of these two but are either willing to sign to back up Hurts
  • Maximum value for either is probably this offseason
  • Pickett probably has a greater value than McKee
  • This draft sucks for QBs.  Pickett may be a better value
  • Value of having both may exceed the value of any trade offer

Eagles have a much better view of McKee and Pickett than we do.  That said, if they think McKee can advance to a reliable #2, then I would certainly expect them to entertain offers.  Maximum value for Pickett is probably during the draft until May 1 when the fifth year option is available. But value may not realize until 2026 as a result.
