I very rarely compliment Lurie...but Howie made some major mistakes honing his craft over the years.  And it's not just irritable Philly fans.  He made mistakes that could have gotten GMs fired.

Getting a GM job in the first place with his non-traditional background.  Keeping the job through the AR to Chip Kelly transition.  Getting the GM job back after the Chip Kelly fiasco.  Keeping it after the drafts leading up to the 2020 implosion and the Wentz contract.

That's Lurie.

Context matters.

Howie Roseman started with the Eagles as an unpaid intern, with a Law Degree, at the age of 24.  (After sending over 1000 letters to NFL teams).  Mike Tannebaum from the Jets almost hired him but eventually Joe Banner gave him a role as an unpaid intern without an office, after Mike Tannebaum put in a good word for him.

Although some could debate it - Joe Banner took Howie Roseman under his wing and made him his "heir apparent" (either intentionally or not).  Roseman was gifted in salary cap management; eventually learned player contracts under Joe Banner, and player personnel under Andy Reid.

Howie Roseman was a "fire cracker" in the organization from day one.  The same way he worked his way up the organization tirelessly -  is the same way he works the salary cap, contracts and player personnel.

And of course, Jeff Lurie knows what he has with Howie.  That's what makes Jeffrey Lurie one of the best (if not the best) owners in the NFL.

If anything, Lurie regrets taking Howie out of the GM role under Chip Kelly -- NOT the other way around.

Here's an article that briefly describes Howie Roseman's story....

I've seen a lot of eagles teams and players in my almost 63 years on this planet. I would have to say that this is probably the best team as a whole that I have ever seen. There have been better individual players here and there over the years, but as a team and putting their best effort forward at the exact right time. Perfect!

I would like the blog's best nerd historians to come up with a draft class for any team in NFL history, ignoring the rest of their careers, that did more in their rookie season.

Imagine if the 2024 draft class takes the regular year 2 leap in 2025....

Sure it has been posted here, but I will post it again.

Just watched the Super Bowl LIX Mic'd Up.

Will probably watch it 100 more times this year. It is a masterpiece!

F'n love this team!

Few notes from it:

Pay Baun. Whatever it takes. He is everything we've ever wanted in a LB.

Want Barkley to retire an Eagle. His production is obvious. His leadership is irreplaceable.

This team loves and believes in one another. If they stay healthy, this could be the beginning of something special.

As much as I admire Andy Reid - that was a 100% Andy Reid pick.

That said, the guy would have been a player, if he had the heart for it.

Howie’s mistakes were always way overblown when looked at in context of the rest of the league.

He did get exponentially better after his "banishment” though.

Plenty of mistakes were wrongly pinned on Howie because people didn't like him and he was their scaoegoat.

The amount of hate Howie Roseman got after that pic circulated was out of this world.  A large amount of the fanbase (and media) basically crucified him as being incompetent and an outcast among his own staff.  Obviously, nothing could have been further from the truth - but when the media runs with a story - "Whoop, there it is!"

That same guy is now in the conversation for the Hall of Fame.  Amazing what a few amazing years and a couple of Lombardi trophies can do.

Hopefully just a scope.

CJGJ wasn’t perfect this season but if you look at the personality of the defense in 2023 and compare it to this season, he’s a massive reason why they got their attitude back. That signing by Howie was more about swagger than stats and it paid off.

I want them to bring him back.  He helps on the back end and works well with Reed.

Gotta be a torn meniscus or an articular cartilage defect. Hopefully it's viable to be sutured if it's a torn meniscus.

I love that all of the leaders/big time players on this team are already obsessed with getting back to the grind for another one next season.

They're a special group of players.

For those who have YouTube TV, could be losing CBS, which means if they don't reach an agreement by the football season, will miss Eagles CBS games.

They will work it out.  They always do this.

At least they better.  They just raised their price $10 a month.

I blame AR for that one actually.  It always felt like that pick had ARs fingerprints all over it.

He’ll try to share as much spotlight as possible with the current team.

He's gonna show up just to yell at everyone because of how miserable he is over the game. SO. MUCH. MISERY!

If he shows up, it's because he's an attention whoor. If he doesn't show up, it's because he's bitter and miserable the Eagles won. Par for the course.

Kelce did say the team would bounce back this year.  That was before they signed Barkley too.
