How long will we have Barkley for? Definitely 2025, probably 2026, probably not beyond? Guess it depends on if he falls off a cliff next year.

Depends how sentimental we choose to get.

They have all kinds of rushing records

Most team rushing yards playoffs and regular season combined:  2024 Eagles

Most individual rushing yards playoff and regular season combined: Saquon Barkley.

I like those records.

Alright, Vic Fangio vs. JJ....

JJ is an all time eagles legend as a DC, but in reality his defenses wilted on the bigger stages.  Fangio orchestrated one of the most dominant defensive performances in a Super Bowl ever in his first year here.  Tough though, in Eagles lore JJ will always reign supreme though unless we real off another (or more).

Honestly it seemed like it.  Overall a weird game, the O was effective, but in all reality they didn’t need to do much all game.  They just cruised, it seemed effortless.

Yeah.  The Chiefs put 12 guys in the box and had -1 guy on the outside.    They determined that Barkley wasn't going to get 100 yards on them.   And congrats to them.  They bit so hard on the run that they had no answer to the passing game.  Barkley was great in blitz pickups... and Hurts made them pay on only 22 pass attempts.   Very efficient.

I'm watching Mic'd Up for the full season... and did TWO guys actually drop the ball at the goal line before crossing the line this season?!     How dumb can you get?!  THat's just another reason that I love either giving it to the refs... or a monster spike.  You can't fumble early if that's your celebration.

Did he really?  That might be ban worthy from here.  🤣

Would need someone else to confirm, but he openly admitted to getting banned from YT for harassment

I will bump this when someone accidentally spikes the ball at the 1 yard line next year.

The 2024 Eagles fell short on one rushing record:

40 combined rushing TDs

Long live the record holders, the 2022 Eagles with 42 rushing TDs

Very efficient.  The DL really was the only unit that ‘stood on their head’ all game.  I’d have to see All 22 and maybe throw the OL in there, because it seemed like Barkley strangely missed a lot of holes early.

Has to be a monster spike... Gronk style, not some wimpy one where you do it on the run.

There have only been a handful of blowouts since the Gatorade bath originated with Parcells. Would think it would be easy to track but I bet we're the earliest.

Tampa over KC

Seattle over Denver

Tampa over Oakland

Baltimore over NYG

SF over SD

And Dallas over Buffalo

Yeah, those games are likely available to review. If I'm curious enough, I may take a look at some point.

2029.

The Mic-ed show the NFL made had Lurie and Sirianni call him the leader of the team and said he was everything an Eagle should be.

We got to load manage Saquon from now on.  Cut his touches down by 1/3 in the regular season via more in-game carries for the backup, and some games off.  Then unleash him in the playoffs.

That's the way to have him around for 3 or 4 more playoff runs.

All due respect to you guys but lets chill with the "ban hammer".  We've already lost 4-5 members who would post here regularly (albeit belligerent at times).

As long as members don't resort to severe personal attacks and/or threats, I can deal with it.  And so should most of us - this is a Football forum - it's a violent sport and yes, it can get the best of us at times.  Just go into this thread or the GameDay thread during any Eagles games and you'll read nonsense much worse than most of what RTK says.

My 2 Cents.  Moving on.

After watching the game about 14 times now…I’m baffled where this play design and calling was all season.  That was an absolute clinic and seemed to be incredibly deep and more complex than the entire season combined.

I know we joked about it all season but it definitely felt different in the SB

Really only surprising part was there were no trick plays

Jahan Dotson.

2 rec, 42 yards, 2 first downs in the SB.

That's a legit #3 slot performance right there.

With a bit more passing next year, I wonder if he'll start to emerge.

I think he will. Jalen started warming to him and they’ll likely work together in offseason

TBH Hurts had maybe 2-3 "bad games" all season - where he gave up turnovers, etc.

The other 4-5 games a lot of naysayers were complaining about would be when Barkley would run for 150-200 yards and Hurts would pass for 120 yards, run for another 50 and score 2-3 total TD's.  The Eagles would win BUT  people would blast him for only passing for 130 yards.

And looking back on that - it is laughable to expect your offense to gain 400-500 total yards every week.  If Barkley runs for 150 - 200 yards Hurts runs for 50+ and passes for another 130  that's 330 - 380 yards of total offense with a WIN - and people were losing their minds over it in here.

Early in the season, he wasn’t playing well mainly cause of the frequency of the turnovers. Like the first four weeks hurts was on pace to have 30+ turnovers for a season and if i remember correctly on pace for 21 fumbles. That’s when I went into you can’t be turning the ball over 30 times and fumbling it this much and expect to go out and win a Super Bowl. With how much talent they have if hurts and the offense cut down on the turnovers their talent would prove to be too much for most teams.  It felt like they were very much like 2023 early in the season as we had turnover issues last year (managed to get by until later in the season) and the defense outside of the saints game struggled or had late game collapse vs. falcons (like Seattle and Az in 2023)

to hurts’ credit, coaches credit they fixed the turnover issue and the defense got going after the bye. Imo the last two games of this year, was the best Jalen hurts played all season and the passing game people wanted to see. Like if the passing game can be that effective for a majority of 2025 then the eagles even with a tough schedule are going to be hard to beat. I don’t think there’s a roster in the league with as much talent as we have on offense nor a defense that’s capable of shutting it down if the passing game looks like it did nfc title game and SB

Come on man, this is Sirianni - he doesn't talk about injuries to players until he absolutely has to during the week so that he can get an ":edge".  Do you think guys like him - and two wizards like Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio wouldn't save the best for last?

This team was so unbelievably talented and good this season that they were basically able to run a vanilla offense on the back of Saquon Barkley most games - and when that didn't work, they would pull a play or two out.  Hence the reason Hurts said, "They finally let me out of my straightjacket"

And then you hear Sirianni on the sidelines during the Super Bowl saying, "Go ahead and run that play - if he hits it - it's over".  This coaching staff had a plan in place throughout the season and only used what they needed to use in order to win each individual game - all the way to the Super Bowl.

I tip my cap to Coach Sirianni, Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio - the unsung heroes of the 2024 Eagles Season.  Well done, fellas, well done.

Clint Hurtt gets an assist.  The MVP really should have come from the defensive side, but no one really stood out singularly to make the happen.  Sweat was close with the 2.5 sacks and the assist on Baun's INT.  DeJean's pick 6 would have been it... if it happened at the end of a very close low scoring game.  But, as it was, while it was the harbinger of things to come, it wasn't enough to take the MVP.    MVP awards seem to only be for the QB these days.

My 2025 optimistic take is that Kellen Moore actually wasn't great, and there's a real chance we upgrade at OC next year. Of course, we'll get injury regression.

59 minutes ago, Ace Nova said:

Well - he had 2.5 sacks and was a driving force on defense in the Super Bowl - almost made Super Bowl MVP - so I'm guessing most teams are fine with him "gimping around" if he plays like that.

Someone will pay him and if not - bring him back!

Yeah hes getting paid and while he was tremendous in the bowl he has long stretches of being pretty quiet.
