I have a totally different read on Nick. He almost lost his job, he has had his duties limited every year and we all saw how he has acted on the sidelines in Indy, Kansas City and even in Philly. I’d think he will, and quite frankly,  deserves to make a power move.

I think he’ll likely power move for Patullo but I’m not sure it’ll work out. Then you have a friend in a job that could put him at odds with FO or even Hurts if offense steps back.  He’s earned it but it might not be good for him. Then again none of us really know how Patullo would do

All the good OC candidates got hired. It’s probably the same deal at QB coach.

A blessing and a curse of getting to the Super Bowl. Thank goodness we won this time.

No matter how many times I watch LII, I hold my breath on the fourth down on the go-ahead drive — both when Foles is pressured and again when Ertz is hit and reaches the ball out to ensure the first.

Kelce was actively rooting for AJ and the rest of his teammates to lose.

@Moderator12 @Moderator6 @Moderator5 @Moderator4 @Moderator2 please ban this troll.  He was banned from the old EMB for the same kind of asinine and disrespectful behavior.  He is no better than @PackerNation adding absolutely nothing of value to the board.  Enough is enough!

Respectfully submitted.

I still hold my breath on the final Hail Mary until it hits the ground

I don’t think any of us really know what the power structure dynamic is as far as who’s calling plays and what Nick specifically does. Nick always takes the blame in his press conferences when a play goes wrong, on offense or defense, but to me that was always him taking the bullet for Moore and Fangio. He’s not going to say "Yeah that was Kellen’s call” if it was a bad one.  So I do think the coordinators had playcalling duties, especially Fangio on defense. There’s probably more back and forth with him and Moore on offense. On the deep shot to DeVonta in the Super Bowl, the mics caught Nick saying "Yeah, call it” so I’m assuming that was Moore cross-checking if he liked that call or not.

Whatever it was they did this season it worked and I don’t know if Nick goes in trying to make a power move now when it was that coordination and alignment with Moore that worked this season. I’m assuming they’ll want to keep that congruent with whoever the next OC is from a power dynamic.

But outside of the Super Bowl and NFCCG, which I know are two huge games to exclude, I don’t think the passing game in the regular season was THAT much better than what we saw last year. The main difference being that Hurts was smarter with the ball and limited the dumb turnovers. They have a true identity now with Saquon, the offensive line, and Hurts playing smart football. That’s really the system and whoever is the next OC will run something similar to what we saw this year.

I agree with your post but I think Barkley's workload next year won't be like this year.  I can see him, assuming he stays relatively healthy, getting 1,300 to 1,500 yards and less carries.  Wouldn't surprise me if they pass a little bit more but the emphasis will be on not turning it over like this year which Hurts did a great job of that after the bye.

I would like the blog's best nerd historians to come up with a draft class for any team in NFL history, ignoring the rest of their careers, that did more in their rookie season.

The Steelers drafted FOUR Hall of Famers in the '74 draft and won the Super Bowl that season. I would assume that their rookie impact was at least as good as ours was.

Swann, Stallworth, Lambert, Webster.

More of a blessing than a curse since we won. There are good OCs out there but they just aren’t the obvious names. QB coach Pep Hamilton or even Byron Leftwich.   Also I think Darrell Bevell might shake loose from Miami since thru just hired Slowik for a similar role.   And whether you like those guys or not they are legit candidates

I don’t have any moderator authority, but I would respectfully submit that if everyone put him on ignore (as I and others have) then it follows that he wouldn’t post here anymore because he’d be a tree falling in the forest with no one there to hear him.

if offense steps back

I don't see that happening, still have the big OL & Stout to coach up backfill, still have SB, still have Brown & Smith, would take a monumental failure to step back. Possible? Sure, I just don't think it happens.

Who’s going to be the drunkest player at the parade tomorrow? I’m going with Dickerson. Wildcard Blankenship.

I'd bet a lot of people bashing Kelce for this didn't have the best relationships with their own family members or close friends.

Yup. I feel the same way. It feels like the people who don’t have good relationships with their brothers, sisters or family members would say something like that. Jason has always been super close to his brother. He has been his entire life. Asking him to choose the Eagles in a game he isn’t playing over his family is ridiculous. Your number one priority in life should always be you and your family. I don’t really care for his brother Travis, but I’m betting if it was reversed that Travis still would’ve been cheering for his brother jason.

I don’t have particularly good relationships with some of my family members, and despite that I have no problem at all with Jason’s closeness to Travis.  In addition to them being brothers, they appear to have earned each other’s respect and admiration.

As good as they all were Webster was probably the best over his career of the bunch.

Don’t get me wrong; I’d sign off on a petition to ban if it came to it.  My next best solution would be a system change where I can’t see the replies folks give to people on my ignore list.  That way, they can truly be ignored — even when quoted

Look at the SB we stuck with run despite it not working and it made the defense stay honest. We’ve had other play callers abandon run fast.  Sirriani himself was a bad play caller and if Patullo is an opening to Sirriani taking more control it could be a setback

Nick already went to bat for Patullo so far in every PC when asked about him. I’d be shocked if the guy that’s been next to him for the last 6+ years isn’t his first recommendation. And Patullo clearly wants it. I think that’s going to put more of a strain on Nick than people realize.

No, it'd actually the same.  The ying to the yang.  Oke cannot root for a team playing another team to win without rooting for that other team to lose.

A win-win situation is one that benefits all parties involved. It's a mutually beneficial resolution that can occur in negotiations or other situations.  The result of the NFCCG was a win-win.  Just by getting to that game the Commies were winners and by moving on to the Super Bowl the Eagles were winners.

Yeh, I see what you are saying, I just think they had a chance to see it work successfully this year and they will learn from that and continue to do what has worked. Additionally they haven't had a rb like SB to really stick with up until this year. It's just an opinion.

I’ve been completely against it. I think it’s a really bad idea to just go with Patullo. I’m just saying what I think will happen.

Then again Nick didn’t hire Patullo as OC when he came in originally and didn’t hire him instead of Brian Johnson and didn’t hire him this year. Now circumstance definitely made BJ the natural choice when Steichen and then made an internal choice unlikely when he got fired. But still never seemed like a consideration before

McCarthy is available, unless Kellen hires him.

Yes I agree it’s most likely with a senior guy brought in as advisor

Definitely true about SB
