So, I'll play the 2022 vs. 2024 Eagles game. My takeaway -- the 2024 team is better, maybe significantly so.

QB - PUSH: 2022 Hurts vs. 2024 Hurts. I get this will be controversial, but hear me out. 2022 Hurts threw for 3,701 yards in 15 regular season games, 22 TDs, 6 picks and a 101.5 rating. 2024 Hurts threw for 2,903 yards in effectively 14 games, 18 TDs, 5 INTs and a 103.7 rating. Here's the key -- 2022 he threw 460 passes and had an 8.0 YPA, and in 2024 he threw 361 times (99 less) and had the same 8.0 YPA. He's basically the same from an efficiency standpoint, but is just throwing a lot less.

RB - massive edge 2024: Do I really even need to go through this?

WR1 - PUSH: AJ has been great both years -- 1,496 yards in 2022 in 17 games, 1,079 yards in 2024 in 13 games. While his YPG dropped from 88 to 83, his yards per target increased from 10.3 to 11.1. Again, fewer opportunities, but higher efficiency.

WR2 - PUSH: Similar to AJ, his YPG dropped from 70.4 to 64.1, but his yards per target increased from 8.8 to 9.4.

TE - 2022: Goedert saw a dip in production and efficiency. 58.5 YPG to 49.6, and 10.2 per target to 9.5. Not a huge drop off, but he is older and banged up as well.

LT - 2024: Mailata is simply better this year than he was in 2022, by a large margin IMO.

LG - PUSH: Dickerson is better, but he is banged up going into the game.

C - 2022: It's closer than we had any right to imagine, but still...Kelce was better.

RG - 2024: Becton has been better than Isaac. He's just a mountain of a human being.

RT - PUSH: Lane continues to play at an all-pro level.

Overall offense: 2 edges to 2022 (C and TE), 2 to 2024 (RB and RG). But the massive upgrade at RB makes the 2024 offense slightly better.

DT - 2024: Cox was great, but he wasn't his all pro peak in 2022. Carter is better than 2022 Cox. Williams is basically the same as Hargrave. But Davis, Ojomo and Booker bring more than Suh, Joseph and rookie Davis.

Edge - 2022: Nolan has really come on, but Reddick was insane during the playoff run. Sweat is Sweat, and we don't know if BG will be back. Hunt being a bust hurts here.

LB - massive edge 2024: TJ was a nice player, but Baun is a DPOY finalist. Dean getting hurt sucks, but Burks has been very good the last 2 games and is better than Kyzir (who was decent).

CB1 - PUSH: Slay is playing as well this year as he did in 2022, maybe a little better.

CB2 - 2024: I know JB was 2nd team all pro, but Q has been better IMO.

NCB - 2024: DeJean has been better than Maddox by a decent margin, and Maddox peaked in 2022.

S - 2024: Reed is better than Epps, and CJGJ is slightly better this year IMO.

Defense overall: only place we are worse is edge rusher with no Reddick, but Smith has closed that gap. This defense is much better than 2022.

Don't forget Fangio is 10X better than Gannon. Giving Steichen the edge on offense though. But Eagles kryptonite was their defense in that game.  And of course mostly because of the bogus field conditions. I'd say Sirianni also is a slightly better version of himself as a CEO type coach now and is not getting in his own way as much.

Special teams seems to be a wash with kicking/punting, but a little better in coverage teams.

Man, Josh Sweat is going to get so many opportunities. Hopefully he can finally have a good playoff game (not counting the Giants game where every defensive player ate)

Rob Zombie being a decent film maker would not have been on my bingo card if you asked me in the 90’s.

Might be a prime opportunity to put Jordan Davis heads up on him and just tell Davis to bull rush him straight into Mahomes.

Luvu uses the trappings of the Māori Haka with the protruding tongue to project a similar deranged demeanor.

Cap space: rolling over is about $26 million.  Cap increase for 2025 predicted to be between $10-$20 million.  So maybe  $15 million giving us $41 million.  Not accounting for any new dead money hits, we have that to work with to get Baun, Becton, maybe Williams signed.   Also, Burks is a FA and he is likely a must sign since Dean is shelved for a while and will not be what he was next season, if ever again.  Covey, Lovato, Rodgers, VanSumeren all FAs as well.

So, we have to re-sign both of our current starting LBs, choose between Becton and Williams, and keep some depth players.  Howie gonna have to be creative.

There will be adjustments based on insurance payments for injured players.

Strategic move by Reid.  If someone beats Thuney ad gets to Mahomea then it will be 15 yards an an automatic first down for the Chiefs.

Love the Haka.  Six Nations starts today.  Didn't see but Luvu should be fined heavily for being a ****.

Rugby is a truly underappreciated sport.

There’s every reason to risk it: winning the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs OBVIOUSLY are aided by biased officiating from the refs.

If you want to win the Super Bowl, muting that bias as much as possible with a few words at a press conference is a straight forward way to do this.

Use public pressure to force the refs into calling it even.

The Eagles are not going to do that, nor should anyone.  As someone who has been a referee in recreational and college sports I can tell you that on-field officials are human, and accusing them of corruption or bias isn't going to go well for you at game time.  If you believe the Chiefs are getting beneficial officiating per a league directive from the NFL, you probably shouldn't bother watching the game.  If the league has decided that KC will three-peat, there isn't anything that can happen on the field to alter that inevitability.  Save yourself the heartache.

If I'm in Sirianni's shoes the most I would do is shake hands with head referee Ron Torbert immediately before the game, smile, and say "let's remember there's two teams out there" and give a laugh and wink.  There are subtle ways to get the message across.  Keep dialogue open during the game, suggest to the officials what to watch for, reinforce and remind them that the Chiefs are doing exactly what you warned them they would do -- and reiterate to watch for it.

There's a fine line between talking to the officials and badgering the officials.  That difference does have a subconscious effect on human beings.

I say lean into the 15 yards and really lay that SOB out then. It's not worth pulling up since they will flag them anyway. Put him in the blue tent.

He hasn't done much to get a big contract from the Birds IMO this playoffs. Smith is showing him up in every way.

Pretty sure that was just a 4 man rush from Nascar, not a blitz.

That particular play, yes.   But, before the drive he told Doug he was going to be aggressive.   I think as the drive had gone on (if it had), he'd have brought some extra guys.   I don't think you just bring it on every play though, because I would assume you want some element of surprise.

Oh it was definitely a surprise anytime Schwartz rushed more than 4 guys.

It's hard to discuss the draft before free agency.  And it's naive to discuss free agency without considering the draft.

As stated before, this is a deep DL draft.  That will impact the Williams and Sweat decisions.  I may even impact their intent to pick up Davis' fifth-year option.  I have no issues with adding to this group with early picks.  Carter will soon be the highest paid defender in history.  Having other guys on their rookie contracts will be a necessity.

You left off the field conditions.

EDIT: and the defensive coordinator.

I hope the coaches are focused on the game, the Chiefs, and Mahomes. Not the refs. They can't control them. They can control only what happens on the field (to an extent). Play.
