That's a stretch. It's two separate transactions, the cost for Pickett stays the same. They also then traded that pick away for Dotson too, so where do we draw the line?

It ends when the line is broken (fails to continue).  If the 3rd this year is traded the line continues.  They are vectors. It is in essence a balance beam exercise.  On the one side is the 3rd and the two 7ths.  On the other side is what was gotten back … initially Pickett and the 4th, but the 4th was taken off and replaced with a 3rd, but that3rd is a work in process.  It will either become a player or if traded some other asset(s).  As a pick it only represents potential.  The final accounting happens when the potential asset (the pending pick) becomes a real asset.

You face the same situation when looking at your investments.  The market price of each investment goes up and down, but as long as you hold that stock or bond it only has paper value, as well as the reality that the market price will go up and down over time, but until you actually make a sale transaction that value is not real.  It is only on paper.

So until the 2025 3rd actually is used to select one or more players and there are no pending picks left, the deal is not "closed”

Oh... I'm hoping to see him get a drive at the very end of the game, just like he did against Washington.  ;)

 Touche. Has that actually happened before? I would think you just leave most of the starters in and just run the ball exclusively since the risk of injury is mostly meaningless. Haven't been too many blowouts in the super bowl where that would come into play. Maybe that niners one with Steve Young from way back?

Oh true. Did they pull Wilson in that? Feels like I would've remembered that but I was also probably half in the bag by the time that one got out of hand.

I like Keegan. Nasty streak and just a physical mauler. Depth at LG

Becton all comes down tonprice and whether Stout sees him as Lanes heir at RT. I dont see it but Stout does tend to be loyal to his guys

Only loyal up to a point.  He has cut bait in the past, and will no doubt do it in the future.  Seumalo being the most recent example.

At his age and history, how could he turn down a starting spot with a bottom tier team and take a smaller package from the Eagles?

As for Keegan, I was also very high on him when drafted.  I see him as a 10 year slug it out OG.  BUT... competition always needs to be brought in so that guys earn positions.

As for my overall assertion regarding the priority of OL over TE... There are far more 'good enough' TEs in the NFL than there are 'good enough' OL.  Just my opinion.  If all things are equal, go with the OL... every time.  A team can certainly make do with a TE like Brent Celek, Trey Burton, or Grant Calcaterra... all mid-round TE draft picks by this team that developed just fine.   They absolutely need to fill up the coffers with more late round picks along the OL... but this team always loads up on the OL early in the draft.  Our current group of OL: Mailata (7th round lottery pick outlier), Dickerson (high 2nd round pick), Jurgens (high 2nd round pick), Becton (top 10 OL draft pick), Johnson (top 5 OL draft pick).   And behind them is Steen (high 3rd round pick).

TEs, on the other hand, yes, last two starters were both 2nd round picks. Before that, Celek (5th round).  And the backups that always produce when the starters go down.. Trey Burton, Grant Calcaterra, Jack Stoll... all mid rounders.  We can develop the TE position pretty well.

Fair enough.  Time will tell what direction they take.

Dang, I hope each and everyone of you, your families, extended family, and friends are safe and unhurt. What a tough week.

Holy crap there was a plane crash in NE Philly on cottman Ave and Roosevelt blvd. Near the Roosevelt mall. Hopefully it’s not as it sound and survivors. Near where i used to live when i lived in Philly.

Yeah it’s bad enough that the passengers likely perished - hopefully no casualties on the ground. 🙏

What’s up with all these planes falling from the sky lately

That's not exactly how it works.   That's a separate move made, perhaps to mitigate the cost.  Perhaps not.  And there's a cost to delaying the pick from one year to the next.

Actually there isn’t always a cost to delaying.  Look at this most recent year.  The Eagles lost a player they drafted because there wasn’t enough roster space to keep everybody they wanted to keep.  One additional 4th Round drafted player would only have made that log jam worse.

It is like running a distance race.  Go out with too much early and you won’t optimize your placement at the finish line.

Just horrible. I hope no one on the ground was impacted, that was really my first thought. They are reporting six cars, and six homes were/are on fire. I like my PHI folks here and just hope you all are safe.

I couldn't tell you, i think i turned that one off real early lol. Looking at the box score i don't think he was

Just rewatched the wheel route to Clement during the Super Bowl win - I think that play (or something similar) could work with Barkley.

The TD Pass to Clement was the most beautiful pass I think I've ever seen in all my years watching Football.

You’re missing the point that the 3rd was traded away to the Commanders. And still, I disagree. The cost of trading for Pickett is the cost for trading for Pickett. He cost a pick swap and two 7ths. He doesn’t suddenly cost less because Howie made other independent moves.

Even by your definition you can’t say Pickett only cost two 7ths since we don’t know what the pick ultimately ends up being.

He had so many that game. It really sucks Jeffery couldn't hang onto the one and ended up putting an INT on Foles stat line.

It was about two blocks from my brother in law. Small plane but sounds like it did a ton of damage. Crazy.

Details keep getting worse and worse. 4 crew and 2 passengers on board for medical assignment, one being a pediatric patient.

Multiple of the OC candidates have Philly ties. Including Udinski who’s a hot name is from Doylestown and probably grew up an Eagles fan. I’d imagine this is a dream job for him. Someone else does too. Slowik is from the area and one other guy has local ties too I can’t remember if it’s Caley or not.

Udinski, Pettine- who knew Doylestown would be a hotbed of NFL coaches?

2025 and things come in 3s. Hopefully,  not with the Super Bowl this year.
