He would be a good addition to the DL, replacing Sweat.  But he would be very expensive in cap money and trade capital.  Let's see what magic Howie could pull off.

For those thinking the Eagles should blow KC out

From Sheil Kapadia @ The Ringer.  They would probably have to force a bunch of turnovers and play a perfect game to blow the Chiefs out.

Oddly enough, one of the 5 was in the super bowl.

Do you like 13 million a year for a 15 snap per game guy?

Yeah, this is the issue no one is considering.

Even if you think Davis is the best NT in the NFL, if he’s only playing 25% of the defensive snaps, how much do you actually want to pay him?

Can you get 80% of the impact with a 4th round pick making 10% of the money?

Because Howie has a long history of adding star players.

We're favorites even when the player is at a position we don't need

Garrett would make the line the scariest in the League.  It would rival Jerome Brown and Reggie White in their heyday.

A week from now this place is going to hopping with excitement...or everyone will be complaining about the officiating, the quarterback, or the coaching, and contemplating the draft.

Good God, I really hope it's the former.

Why not both?  🤔

Because it's a well run franchise that does a lot of winning? Maybe that answers the question

Realistically I don't think the Eagles will trade for him. Especially if they win the SB. I think they'll want to keep their young core together and continue to build for sustainability. Garrett will cost so much money on his next deal. Plus the draft capital. The Eagles have built this team drafting well I think they'll want to continue it.

I agree is likely not going to be worth the cost in terms of draft capital and cap space.  He would be a great fit for the Bills.

Nah. Howie is thinking about locking up homegrown talent like Williams and keeping guys like Baun and Becton

Not sure I'd characterize Baun and Becton as "homegrown" talents when they've been here for less than a season after acquiring them in FA. In general, I agree with you that Garrett coming here seems unlikely, but I'd argue that has more to do with the albatross of Huff's contract, rather than him being philosophically opposed to landing a big money rusher in a trade.

Yeah if the last few weeks are any indication, it's definitely going to be both if we win.

This is the reason Howie will not be resigning Milton Williams. Gotta leave optionality for moves like this and have to put those resources at defensive end and elsewhere. Especially with Carter, Davis and Ojomo coming up for new contracts in the next couple years. Howie's gonna take the 3rd Rounder comp pick here.

I was talking about Williams. I brought up Baun and Becton as players Howie would want to keep in general. Becton has done a complete 180 thanks to Stoutland and Baun was a diamond in the rough. Keep the squad together and add pieces through the draft. I'll be surprised if Huff isn't moved

Gotcha. And yeah I think Huff is probably gone too. Pretty clear by now that him and Fangio did not mesh and him getting outsnapped by Hunt has to mean the issue goes beyond talent and experience, gotta be attitude or effort issues we're not seeing behind the scenes.

Hunt has been getting better and better each week. I expect him to shine next season. Baun and Williams are a 1A/1B as far as priority goes. Howie needs to bring both back. We all have seen what Baun has done all year. Milton has been a stud down the stretch and into the playoffs. After locking up those guys, then focus on Becton. There's a ton of money already invested in the Oline and Jurgens is up for an extension

When you look at someone like Ty Robinson, or Darius Alexander in this draft, or some other 2nd round or 3rd round prospect and consider the production they can give you on a 2nd round rookie contract over the next 4 years...

vs trying to settle on a number for Davis's maximum of 20 snaps per game even at something like 8 million a year....

If you have to pay Milton Williams, and Jalen Carter, it just makes sense to move on.

I think Davis has been criminally underrated here this year. I dont think people recognize how well he is playing when on the field. But still, I dont know how you pay him for his role.

Williams has been the better and more consistent player than Davis. There's no guarantee Davis gets an extension

It'd be amazing if the Eagles win on Sunday for many reasons. But knowing that the Sirianni / Hurts hate will be over is an excellent plus.

I know it wouldn't be completely over, but at least it'll be easier to deal with in very high spirits.

Well, I don’t think we can afford to keep Williams.

But more to the point, if we are using a top 100 pick on a DT, they need to play more than 25% of the snaps.

If we want a NT, and a NT is only going to play 15 snaps per game, then Davis has to go and we have to find a cheap replacement.

My best guess is that Williams walks in free agency and we draft a more traditional DT somewhere in the first 3 rounds. Could even b as early as first round given the depth this class has.
