@VaBeach_Eagle when it’s time to lock this thread, can we get it pinned in 411 like we did last time?

Yes, and over time (as I can), I want to keep working on the LII thread (which is incomplete).

I have tried to preach confidence for weeks and months. There are too many Eagles fans with PTSD from decades of losing, previous let downs with teams that should have won and didn't.

  • We had those 80s high hopes in the 1980 SB, having finally beat the Cowboys and seeing that famous Montgomery TD run against the Cowboys. Only to lose the SB.
  • We had the 90s amazing defense and the exciting Randall, but that team never won even a playoff game. Let down, and we had to watch the Cowboys go and win 3 Super Bowls.
  • Reid brought winning but couldn't get over the hump. Heart breaking NFCCG losses, high expectations and a SB loss by only 3 points, with Spygate and the Pats getting in trouble for cheating. We also saw the Giants win 2 SBs during that time with goofy Eli and being a wild card team. Why can't we get over the hump? We deserve it.
  • 2017 team, we had a let down with Wentz getting hurt and wondering if we could go far. Even in the win, we were all holding our breath on the last hail mary play. I was thinking, you never know with Brady. The clock hit 0 and I paused, said to my friend is it really over? I wanted to be sure there wasn't some fluke flag called or something.
  • 2022 we were let down by that crappy field, Gannon's defense twice let Chiefs WRs wide open for easy TDs, and the refs bailed them out.
  • 2023 they had an epic collapse and it left a bad taste in our mouths continuing into this season.

So I get it. We're used to let downs. We're used to being anxious. We call it "passion" when guys are saying the game is over/season over when it's the 1st quarter of a regular season game and it's only 7-0. It's anxiety and over the top negativity.

It needs to end. This year, there was still some leftover feeling from last year's collapse. I blamed Siri mainly for that collapse, and seeing his immature antics and bad game management early, I thought he learned nothing. I called for them to fire him. He got national attention for yelling at his own fans and being immature. We worried they hadn't learned from last year. They started 2-2 and we worried going into the bye. They turned it around. Siri got more focused and balanced. Fangio's defense took off. The offense found its identity. DeJean inserted as a starter. Baun and Becton reclaimed their career here. The team began to not just scrape by with "ugly wins" and leave us thinking they're going to collapse again. No, they dominated teams. People worried about the Rams, Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, even the Commanders.

This team had swagger, confidence, played aggressive, bullied other teams into submission, all they talked about was team and winning. Every time there was some drama talked about (Barkley not getting records, Hurts/Brown about the passing game, Brown reading a book), the team stuck together and had each other's backs.

They were the best team in the NFL, and dominated in the playoffs. They dominated and embarrassed the Chiefs, who were already thinking 3peat and expected to win easily. They had no answer. Mahomes was rattled. Reid looked lost and shocked.

And we can put down the hurt and disappointments from the past. This team did not disappoint. They are set up well to repeat.

They are the best team in the NFL and Super Bowl Champions.

What a game what a season. Four games in this team looked lost. But they came together and played some of the best ball. Monday victories feel better when it’s after the Super Bowl lol

4 man rush all game and still had 5 sacks and tons of pressure

Carson Wentz might be the greatest asset the Eagles ever had.

They keep saying that but I distinctly remember Baun coming in unchecked. Was there something about that they didn't consider a blitz?

Good Morning Football, Peter talks about running into Vic Fangio roaming the stadium after most people left. Peter congratulated him. Fangio said "It doesn't validate anything, I've always been coaching, it's an amazing moment..." Peter reminded him what an accomplishment it was, dominating the Chiefs/Mahomes, etc. Fangio said "I've been coaching in the NFL since 1986. This is my first Super Bowl victory."

He was just reflecting on his career. Pretty cool.

maybe one of the front 4 dropped back into coverage  so was still 4?

3:58 left in the 4th quarter. Baun Blitz and decks Mahommes but he still completed the out route to Worthy.

Nolan smith dropped off into coverage so still only 4.

I was happy the Eagles won! I hate KC more than any other team.

BTW is it just  me or is the Super Bowl logo design for this year pretty hideous?

I would buy more gear but yuck that yellow red thing just doesn't work for me

Yeah while the 2017 win felt miraculous, this one felt more like vindication. They were clearly the best team and just had to go finish the job.

Best Superbowl halftime performances before 2019 when Jay Z took over and ruined the half time.

Here's my top10.

Was it just me, or were the Eagles fans in the 4th quarter at the game taunting the Chiefs with the Tomahawk Chop chant?

Gotta let Slay go, I’m assuming Graham is done, Dotson will be cheap so not really a factor, don’t need Garrett. I’d be happy if they can at least bring back Becton, Baun and either Sweat or Williams. Hopefully all 4 of course. I’m sure Howie has a plan and he’ll figure out a way to bring back his top priorities.

I think Sweat is all but gone. I don’t see the Eagles paying him the money he wants, and it’s gonna be a lot. I say keep Baun and Williams  Becton and Sweat would go even though their control will be missed, I believe they’d be easier to replace, and more cost effective.

He had difficulty holding the Lombardi as his hands were too small.

I agree if they can only keep two. Don’t have any worries about Stoutland plugging someone in Becton’s place if needed. Sweat will hurt to lose but he’ll definitely get overpaid somewhere. Also curious if his knee will hold up as he ages.

Don't we have another Aussie on the team with the International exemption...could you just imagine if......

BMitch on the radio talking about he’s not afraid of the Eagles and that the Commanders handled the Eagles better than the Chiefs. Bro they dropped 55 on your boys. 😂 Then they went the whole if this guy or that guy didn’t fumble nonsense. The Eagles forced those fumble. Hello!
