The 5th year option on Jordan Davis will be somewhere between 22 and 24 million.

That number is a solid rock on your cap and can't be stretched over void years.

I would not pick up his 5th year option.

It's projected to be slightly less than $12M because he didn't hit any of the incentives that bumps it up. And if they do exercise it they could extend him off it like the did with Smith so that it can be spread out and not hit in one year.

With a stacked DE/EDGE class in 2025, I'm hoping he falls to Eagles pick at 64.

Bradyn Swinson, EDGE, LSU

6'4" 250 lbs

Eagles fans will never spell that first name correctly. Looks like a perfect match for us.

Wouldn't surprise me if they go elsewhere

So your list of needs is:

  1. DE/Edge
  2. DE/Edge
  3. LB
  4. TE
  5. RB
  6. WR
  7. O line
  8. DB
  9. DB

I believe you can address both 1 and 3 with Jihaad Campbell in Round 1.

For me, 2. Is DT

i realize that mock draft simulators are unrealistic, but my most recent mock produced the following with a bunch of Howie trades.

Sweat and Williams are gone baby gone imo.  And so is BG once I saw him with those 2 trophies on the stage.  All opinion, of course.

I think BG may re-up for one more year.

Ojomo is not giving you the SAME production. Don't remember him getting 2 and a half sacks in the Superbowl with a strip sack fumble. Can't just gloss over that. Thats a winning player right there for me. Showed up BIG when it mattered. Just like I didn't gloss over Hurts's performance in the Superbowl 2 years ago on my evaluation of him. That holds huuuge value for me. And he's 25. Not 30 like Hargrave and peaked out. Low tread on the tires here as well. I keep saying you can pay Carter and him.  Just like you paid Fletcher, Hargrave, Sweat and Graham all at once. Really don't get that argument. Not expecting more than 2 free agent signings. Baun and Williams are my 2. That's all!

For your comparison of Williams and Ojomo to be valid you need to compare Ojomo now to Williams at this time last year.

Disclaimer: This my opinion and only my opinion.  Do not pass GO.  Do not collect $200.

If I'm doing my math right Jalen Carter's $35M projected hit on the cap is likely 3 years away from striking at that price. Who cares? The cap will be up $75M by then. Can pay most of your top young guys here the way it staggers out from what I'm looking at.

This is why I say you bring Williams back, even if you pay more than anticipated. You can structure his contract to be front heavy and even tradeable once Carter is due his payday. Get 3 more years out of these guys playing together and an ascending Ojomo. Draft another DT and move Jordan Davis.

I see so much talk about Ojomo being on the same level that Williams is right now. Well all 3 of Carter, Williams and Ojomo are still not at the top of their game. Imagine once they do.

Keep that IDL together.

No one is saying McNeil money. He got 97M. Willing to go to 80-84M.

Time will tell, but I expect him to get McNeill money.

There are likely still top end DT prospects available at 32 and that's the trade off you have to make to run a successful franchise long term

If Derrick Harmon or TJ Sanders are there at 32, you wish Milton well pick either and have an absolutely terrifying interior pass rush for the next 5 years.

Or Walter Nolen.

Are you holding that $200 in case we need it for Milton Williams?

4/84 for Williams

3/39 for Baun

2/30 for Becton

Sweat and Slay gone

BG retires

Work your wizardry Howie!

12 is a way different conversation, thanks.

That is a really weird and complicated formula. Do you have a link that spells it out or is it just something that you heard details about in this case?

That's fine. But the defense is taking a big hit losing Sweat, Williams, Slay and Graham as most project here. It's not a minor one at all. Everyone is hoping that a bunch of rookies step up in year 1 and less proven guys to fill the holes and keep this top ranked defense going, while we are chasing Superbowls here.

Williams wouldn’t be replaced by a rookie.  Sweat wouldn’t be replaced by a rookie.  Slay wouldn’t be replaced by a rookie.  Only Graham would be likely to be replaced by a rookie.

Agreed … if Baun signs elsewhere.

I like Nolen i saw recent mock that had him going to Dallas which I don’t like but that mock also had us taking a safety at 32 I think so it’s way off base

Exactly. Howie gets it done if that's his vision. Only thing holding this back, is if we get surprised and he gets more than 84M. Then he's gone. If I'm Milton, I do 3/63M. And become a free agent at his age 29 season. He should cash in big then playing next to Jalen for 3 years and a couple more Superbowls. Then, we can't afford him. Lol

That Cap rise is already spoken for in large part by Hurts’ contract.

Kiper loves Arroyo

Wilfrid Laurier sounds like a finishing school for Butlers. Go Golden Hawks!

Berman doesn't think the Eagles will pick up Jordan Davis' option.

Heard that..and I understand the reasoning.  He takes about 1/3 of the snaps.  I’m torn on this. I like the player, and he did come on late this year. Not sure if that was based on the competition, or him just finally beginning to show a little bit more pass rush ability.  5th year option is a big number for his percentage of snaps.  And how important is he for Carter?

Yeah Jeremiah had Eagles taking Malachi Starks. No way he falls that far, and no way is Howie taking a safety at 32 lol.

Would hate to see Nolen go to Dallas or Washington. Would be excited to get him or Harmon at 32. My heart wants Campbell, but I have a feeling he goes Top 20 after he shows out at the Combine and in interviews.

It’s going to cost some cash to keep Slay around and $4M in cap (right?), but if we let him loose we still need somebody to replace him (Rodgers) and how much will that cost? Perhaps we keep him, and have Ringo/Ricks/draft pick compete for CB3 and heir apparent. Then there’s Coop as well, but I’m happy with where he is (maybe sliding into S later for $ reasons down the road).

Coop has had such a great impact where he is. And it was a weakness for the team and now it is a strength.  We went from weak to really strong, even game changing.  Sure would like to leave him there and watch him get even better.
