No. I think rushing for 2,000 yards is something that's really hard to do. And there's a reason it never has happened consecutively.

For starters, he barely reached it this year after an incredible season. He made it by 5 yards.

He pulled himself out against the Giants in the first game.  And the Cowboys game.   He could have broken the regular season record if he had stayed in those games.

Our OL is right to left: first round draft choice, first round draft choice, second round draft choice, second round draft choice, and seventh round draft choice. Obviously Mailata is an outlier. The rest are all high picks. Stoutland has made so-so talents into competent linemen but he has made this group into one of two or three best OLs of all time. Why? Because he was given talent to work with. Give him mediocre players and the product will be worse. Trust in him all you want but give him talent to work with. This is the engine that drives the offense and is why Barkley came here despite higher offers elsewhere.

Vaitai was a 5th rounder.

Seumalo was a 3rd rounder.

We won a Superbowl with them.

Steen (though the jury is still out in terms of being a starter) was a 3rd rounder.

He helped Kelce, a 6th rounder, become one of the best centers in football.

We can likely draft a guard in the 2nd round that he can mold if you're worried about it. I have my doubts about them drafting a stud LB again.

The Eagles have routinely had a good offensive line. The Eagles have not routinely had good linebacker play.

The only problem I have with signing Becton is 4/5ths of the line will likely be towards the top of the market deals next year. O-line is important but if Becton is looking for a top end deal that’s a poor choice of roster allocation.

No, because again, he had a major knee injury. Before that he was a stud, just like he was here.

#1) This offensive line was a million times better than that offensive line, and it's not close at all.

#2) I hate the argument of "we can likely draft a guard in the ______ round".   Who is this mystery player we can take and easily assume they're going to pick up where we know for fact Becton can?  Draft classes aren't linear.

The entire goal of our offensive philosophy is to have elite play at the line of scrimmage, and we know with certainty that Becton can be a key part of that.

And for the record, I want both Baun and Becton back.  Williams is the most expensive and easiest position to replace,

When was the last time they drafted a LB that was worth a damn. Kendricks?

If you have a top 5 OL in NFL history — which we do — you couldn’t have a better allocation of resources.

Both will be back. Williams and Sweat won't

Nakobe most likely not being ready by the start of next season will probably play a role in keeping Baun. He’s a must re-sign either way but I don’t know how comfortable they’re going to be going into next season with two new starters there.

I'm not confident it will happen, but there was an article before the Super Bowl talking about how ahead of schedule Nakobe Dean is. He has A LONG way to go, but the recovery time is anywhere between 6-12 months. Now that's a huge disparity in recovery time and Dean isn't exactly the poster child for clean health.

I think the bigger factor in the Baun decision will be how well Oren Burks played. I don't think anyone saw him coming in and playing the way he did.

Since the week 18 Dallas game, Burks had 50 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 ff and 1 sack. Those would be season high numbers for LB the last few years.

If they think there's any chance Dean comes back in the first few weeks of the season, I can 100% see them thinking Burks and Trotter can man the ship until it's Burks and Dean.

Thats what I said in the next sentence (minus the Cowboys game).

Regardless, I don’t expect them to run him into the ground as much next year and would expect more RB2 carries as well as more passing. They have the pieces in place to sustain this window and shouldn’t rely on Barkley carrying the entire load for a second straight season which means 2,000 yards again is unlikely.

Reality:

Quote

Over the final seven weeks of the 2020 season, Pro Football Focus scored Becton with a 78.3 pass-blocking grade and a 72.4 run-blocking grade. Those marks ranked ninth and 10th, respectively, among qualified left tackles over that span. Some of the matchups he dueled with over that span include Joey Bosa, Maxx Crosby, and Myles Garrett.

Becton was one of only six left tackles to rank top-10 in both categories over that time period. Of that six-man bunch, he was the only rookie.

Don’t like PFF grades? Go watch one of the many film breakdowns we’ve done on Becton here at Jets X-Factor. PFF’s evaluation of Becton aligns with what his tape shows.

Further supporting the legitimacy of Becton’s production is an ESPN survey of 50-plus NFL executives, coaches, scouts, and players released prior to the 2021 season that features Becton as the sixth-ranked offensive tackle in the league.

As long as Saquon is here, we're gonna be every bit the run-heavy team we were.

We have an offensive line that just helped their RB have probably the single best season in NFL history.  You invest in keeping that in tact all day long.

We'd be extremely foolish to give Saquon similar usage going forward.  He needs to be load managed as he approaches 30.

It's very unlikely we are as run-heavy going forward.  This past season was probably an outlier.

Doubtful.

You’re talking Edge money and Baun (as much as I like him and as well as he’s done here) hasn’t done well at Edge.  It’s the entire reason we ended up signing him this past season.

The market for Baun is a niche market.

This system is literally the perfect system for him.

Hey I really hope so. We will be finding out soon enough.

He had a great season this year. Start of his career didn't look so good. Hopefully he's able to recover

He played OK, while Becton was a monster.

They can be close.  Have to get a better #2 though.  I won't be against a RB on day 2.

Not a star  for a 3rd round pick I would say he's worth a damn.

Didn't realize teams played 7 games. Thought it was a 16 game season (2020)

It’s the first article that came up. Anyone who actually watched him play would tell you the same thing — looked like a star in the making, then messed up his knee.

I agree. I've been pretty critical of his but had nothing but positive thoughts about him this past season
