Sigh. This O line is not good.

Correct, but I was talking about the whole picture over the majority of the last several years and I think you know that.

Because this line is so dominant everywhere, I suspect having Steen/a rookie isn't going to take us from being a SB contender to a bottom feeder. Maybe they like Keegan and he ends up playing RG. There are options.

I would prefer not having two question marks starting in the middle of our defense.

Baun is unquestionably the priority to bring back.

Wild card game- interception

divisional game - fumble recovery

NFCCG - forced a fumble, recovered another

Super Bowl- interception

If a CB or Edge rusher did this, they’d be handed a blank check.

Is this serious that some people would rather have Becton than Baun?   LOL at anybody thinking that.

I said barely getting more than 2,000 rushing in the regular season, not the all season record.

Sure.  But he literally came out of the Cowboys game as soon as he got to 2000.  There was plenty left on the bone.  But the goal was only 2k, not the single season rushing record (Dickerson) so he came out immediately.

The depth is incredible. There are going to be starting caliber RBs drafted on the third day.

The only thing it’s really lacking is a bunch of high end speed types who will run a 4.3 forty. But there are a ton of guys who are in the 210 to 230 pound range who can catch, block, make people miss, break tackles, etc.

Basically if you need a lead back and want to wait until outside of the top 20 picks, this is the year.

Most of the top backs are very fast. Not sure about the depth of the class but, Omarion Hampton, Dylan Sampson and Treyveon Henderson are burners. Caleb Johnson is very fast too.

Sampson is probably the fastest in the class.

And we probably won't lose Gainwell. He is not some highly sought after free agent.  He will get a reasonable contract and stay, imo.

The FA RB class is pretty weak. Someone posted the top 10 RB in FA and Gainwell was 6th. You have big names like Nick Chubb, who's 30 and has had devastating injuries. Najee Harris who averages less than 4 YPC. Aaron Jones, Raheem Mostert are old.

Someone is going to take a chance on Gainwell.

I understand that is the way you feel, and I’m not questioning that.  What I want to do is drill down into the player specifics.

Trevor and Connor did a ranking video on the RBs. Although it was before some guys stayed in school like both PSU RBs. But they will give you an idea of the talent available.

There's better options in the draft

Yea, the dumb fs in the blog

RTK expects the Eagles to trade for Garrett … or so he says.

So does RLC. It isn't going to happen. Can't wait for him to get traded elsewhere and their love fantasy of him playing with the Eagles goes bye bye

I don't see why they would.  Everyone knows what he is and it's a good draft class.  I'd look there before signing him to anything over about 2 million.

Sign Baun and Becton to reasonable deals and let Sweat and Williams walk.

Maybe bargain shop for a couple of prove it one year deals with potential upside and have another solid draft.

A repeat is going to require a few new / different players stepping up in important roles. I like Williams, but he’s not a 20M guy.

That must've taken you forever and a day to look up. Great job. @olsilverhair must be so proud of you

I’m willing to have a friendly bet with you.  My prop is that Baun signs for less than 3/39.

Are you game?

So less than 13 mil per year. I think he's right around 13 mil per year or a little over.
If he gets into free agency I could see higher. My guess is he signs back around 3 years 40 mil.

He should get a contract similar to Patrick Queen, if not then he probably should get a new agent. Unless he takes a hometown discount, which I think he will leave some money on the table to come back anyway, but not sure how much.

If he makes it to FA , 3 years 43.5 or so.

You completely miss my point. Give him straw and he can make bricks but give him stone and he can build walls. When you have a great coach, give him the best material to work with. Those guys you mentioned were never this good. Also, Evan Mathis was coached to all pro level by Howard Mudd, not Jeff Stoutland.

I'll add to this... this team is DRIVEN by the lines.  Why was the offense so good last year?   The OL.   Barkley was the same amazing runner we saw last year when he played in NY, the difference was he was making guys miss in the backfield to struggle for 2 or 3 years so much, we couldn't see his true potential.  But, when he's not getting contact for 4 yards, he can make guys miss in the secondary, and the runs become touchdowns.

Same thing is true of the defense... they were driven in the Super Bowl by the line.  Yes, the secondary was great.  But the lines made the plays to stop any positive plays from happening until the game was crazy out of reach.

With that said, I think Howie knows all this and I fully expect that Baun and Becton will both be back.  If Howie is who people say he is... he will find a way to keep them both.  He can't keep everyone... but he can always keep the ones he wants to keep.  Becton will be 26 years old next season.  You don't let players like him, at that age, walk away for nothing.  Baun is older, but finding a LB to do what he did (not specifically the turnovers, though they were great, obviously) in terms of just helping the entire defense to gel into a cohesive unit is huge.  AND, with the injury to Dean putting his 2025 season into question, they can't be without both LBs for the start of next season.

MIlton Williams is also only 26, BUT... the difference is the rotation piece.  Baun and Becton both play every down.  Williams will likely be the most expensive of the 3, but play the fewest snaps.  They can't afford that.

In Howie I trust.

🤔

Let's not do this.

When it comes to Baun, I’d just like to remind people of what the LB corp looked like just two years ago. I also would like to remind people that before Fangio was proven correct about Baun, Howie signed Devin White as his actual LB at the time.

Coaching staff deserves big credit for quickly recognizing 2 of their free agent signings, White and Huff, weren't working out an moving on to younger players quickly. A lot of teams would have forced the issue with the more known quantity.

Couldnt blame him going for the money. Probably his only chance

I would have to ask some others, but maybe the 70s Raiders.  4 Hall of Famers... Art Shell, Gene Upshaw, Jim Otto and Bob Brown.   That would be tough to beat.  That was before my time though.

Dave Casper, another Hall of Famer, was the TE.

It helps that you have an old salt as the DC.  Vic isn't going to cave to pressure from upstairs.

Now we find out Nolan tore a triceps in the SB and played through it.

Dude literally went from likely bust to legend in like a 2 month period.
