I really don't see the need to bet but we can have a friendly rehash once the signing is made.

Same thing.  It’s a deal.

would also like to see some better depth in the secondary, specifically at safety.

Sydney Brown could hardly see the field, and I don't know if I trust him for extended playing time. While Blankenship is a great story, I wouldn't mind bringing in some competition. CJ is injury prone, so they will definitely need to get more talent back there.

Exactly as I outlined.  The best defensive end in the NFL still in the prime of his career that is now becoming available because he wants to play for a contender.  We have the chance to pair the best defensive end with the best defensive tackle in the NFL along with the other pieces we have in place.  Our secondary is likely going to take a slight step back either by losing Slay or by Slay's natural aging decline if we keep him.  You offset that though by making the defensive line more dominant.

You keep ignoring the cost.  Cents are part of sense. You’re simply playing Madden … fantasy rather than reality

I've addressed the cost in another post.  Put together a package like 2025 1st, 2025 3rd, 2026 2nd and either Pickett or McKee.

As was said to you before (1) the Browns would turn that down, and (2) it doesn’t address the contract extension costs.  Come back with a trade offer that the Browns would accept AND the terms of Garrett’s contract extension.

You think he's going to end up going for a lot more than he actually is.

Garrett is already under contract.  He's not looking for a new payday, he's looking for a championship.

Go back and read all the articles.  He is looking for BOTH. Plus, if you don’t extend him he is a short term loan

Seems like this is probably a waste of time but the Browns have said they are not trading Garrett and the cap hit from trading him is huge.  Regardless of if people think they'll cave and trade him I very much doubt a late first is that enticing and yes the Eagles don't have the cap space either. Maybe if every internal free agent falls through

His contract will be huge but I’m not sure the Browns are going to get what people think they will.

Which articles?

If the short term loan results in another Eagles Super Bowl win in the next two years is that not worth it?

Transparency is always best when dealing with a disgruntled player.  The Browns should tell Garrett they will field calls, but given the $36M dead cap (which requires a bit of contract renegotiation from his side) they won’t make a deal for less than a 2025 1st, 2025 3rd, and 2026 1st.

Advise him not to put his house up for sale just yet.

If the Browns trade him prior to June 1st which means before this draft then they eat a 30+ million cap hit.  It makes no sense for them to do that except for an overwhelming package.  If he holds out into training camp then maybe their price comes down then.  There's a long time and a lot of moves to worry about before then

Yeah, Henderson is my favorite of the guys who will likely go in the second. It wouldn’t shock me to see him sneak into the first.

He’s explosive for sure. I just don’t think he has elite speed. I’m expecting a good but not great 40.

I'll be very surprised if we take a RB in the first 3 rounds.  We have much bigger needs at DE, DT, CB and LB if we lose Baun, plus we took Will Shipley in the 4th last year.

Also free agent RBs looking for a bounce back year should be salivating at the chance to run behind our OL.

Coaching staff deserves big credit for quickly recognizing 2 of their free agent signings, White and Huff, weren't working out an moving on to younger players quickly. A lot of teams would have forced the issue with the more known quantity.

We usually did just that too. I think this is all on Fangio, he actually lets the best guys play no matter what.

Dave Casper, another Hall of Famer, was the TE.

And they also had Hall of Famers at QB (Stabler) and WR (Biletnikoff). Amazing team. But they only won one Super Bowl in the '70s because the Dolphins (early) and Steelers (mid/late) just happened to be better at the time.

He's an interesting former 1st rounder. Tested very highly and then had the broken leg his rookie year. Heard it was pretty gruesome compound fracture.

Hopefully Fangio can get him back on track, he was more of a developmental player in the first place.

The point was brought up that the eagles don’t generally give backup RBs second deals. Gainwell should only cost about $2 million, but who wants to come here for pennies and sit on the bench behind Barkley? And if you’re signing a free agent, this class at RB stinks and it will cost you a comp pick, which Howie has already stated is a consideration this offseason.

There is also the issue that Barkley only has 2 years left on his contract and our entire offense is based on the run game.

Trade down from the first, pick up an extra day 2 pick, and we can get our RB of the future and have high quality depth for our Super Bowl defense. It would also allow us to rest Barkley without too much of a drop off in production.

I’d add, the good thing about this draft class is that it is extremely deep at all the positions we need: EDGE, DL, LB, CB, RB. I don’t think we are pigeon holed into using all our picks on the first two days on those positions.

Howie is going to Howie and I’m confident he’ll accumulate the draft capital necessary to get what we need.

The FA RB class is pretty weak. Someone posted the top 10 RB in FA and Gainwell was 6th. You have big names like Nick Chubb, who's 30 and has had devastating injuries. Najee Harris who averages less than 4 YPC. Aaron Jones, Raheem Mostert are old.

Someone is going to take a chance on Gainwell.

Erbody should be drafting RBs not signing FAs this year.

He said himself it is absolutely not about monkey or contract, it is only about being able to play in January

Looking at potential mid-round gems at CB, Mello Dotson from Kansas would be a welcomed addition to the CB competition if Slay and/or Rodgers are not back.

6'1" 190 lbs

11 INTs in college over his career with 5 returned for TDs.

Really good instincts and hands.

Probably late RD3-RD4 to get him.

All the articles detailing and analyzing his public announcement

Wonder where he ends up.

My guesses would be:

1) Raiders

2) Saints

3) Giants

4) Jets

Right but the fact of the matter is he still has an incredible cap hit for the Browns if they move him. Not happening, even if he starts holding out they're not going to just move him for a 2nd
