Why can't they just pay him 11 for 3 with 2 guaranteed and a ton of incentives.  He DEFINITELY should roll the dice on a bunch of walk up stuff. What kind of things can they do incentives on for an LB?  Games played, tackles but do they do TOs or no?  I am woefully ignorant on football contract stuff.

Howie needs to present him a Baun-afide offer.

Oh stop gargling Howies nuts

he was yet another cheap band aid aimed at adequacy, which Howie consistently failed to deliver. Fangio made Baun a success

Redskins have passed the Bucs. They beat them in Tampa in the playoffs. And Baker Mayfield plays too much hero ball. Daniels doesn't beat himself. Redskins will get better with their capspace. They and the Lions are the main threats to the Eagles currently and can beat them if Eagles aren't playing their A game.

Feels like the usual suspects: Lions, Rams, WFT, Niners, Gbay, Bucs (meh if we are full strength and not playing in FL). Each has its challenges for sure.

We do too, but I think we retain the core and seems like this team won't fall prey to the SB hangover. I honestly think this team is hunting, not being hunted.

Fangio must have been using a Ouija board... or Tarot cards then.   Because he clearly saw something that made him want to use Baun at ILB, and not EDGE.

Obviously they did, because Howie mentioned his ability to play off the ball long before training camp.

I provided the quote from Howie. He was talking about Baun’s ability to play off the ball in March, months before training camp. It was literally the first thing he mentioned when asked about the player.

Yes, the original idea was that Baun would play a Van Ginkel role for Fangio, but this idea that Howie had no idea Baun could play off the ball is just certifiably false.

A name to keep in mind for FA in regards to EDGE players.

Joseph Ossai from Cincy

Minus that boneheaded penalty in the AFC Championship game two years ago, he had a solid year last season with 5 sacks as a rotational piece for them.

Could be an affordable, solid addition to the Eagles rotation along with a high draft pick.

Yup, so confident he could play off ball linebacker that they signed an off ball linebacker a few days later for a lot more money, then signed another off ball linebacker and then drafted an off ball linebacker.

Sure, it worked out. But this idea that anyone knew this kid could do for us what he couldnt do in NO is laughably false.

He didn’t know it until Fangio told him he and the personnel dept were wrong in their evaluation. They saw him as a backup edge/special teamer before Vic.

Yea, they are in line to add some serious talent before next year. Hate it.

Commies also have very few guys under contract.  They have tons of holes to fill with that cap room, so they’re not in as good of a position as people think.

Bc no GM will go on record that they didnt plan the success, duh

Exactly, and a lot of highly paid free agents are misses like Huff or are only slightly impactful.  The contribution they got from Ertz last year will likely exceed what they get from a highly paid signing this year

It was in March, before training camp.

Obviously no one expected him to be an all pro but they were clearly looking at him as a versatile player who could play off ball LB. It was, again, the very first thing Howie mentioned.

Okay, so here's Howie doing miracle work if he can sign all 3 here with these contracts.

1) Baun-3/39

Think it's more like 3/45

2) Becton-2/20

Think it's more like 2/25

3) Williams-3/54  or 4/72

Unfortunately, think he gets  3/63 or 4/84 and gets Hargrave's type money in the end.

Need some hometown discounts to make this work with current roster.

Or Plan B. Jordan Davis gets traded. Which I can see happen, regardless, if he's looking for more than $10M per year on an extension. I don't think he leaves contract extension hanging and plays backup here while his value plummets. It's decision time on him. Not sure Fangio sees him as a starter. So probably moving forward with Ojomo or Williams as Carter's sidekick next year.

I never looked and boy, you're right. They aren't in great shape at all. Sure they have cash to spend but look at these holes.

That is an extensive list.

Maybe Garrett to the Commies is not such a certainty after all.

It’s not a great free agent class, either.

I am okay with Washington blowing their wad on a guy who will give them 2 prime years. His age 30 season and his 31 season. After that he could be Josh Sweat. At age 32 and plus seasons, he's no a longer a game wrecker, but good. Mailata knows how to handle him okay. One thing about Garrett, he's pretty streaky and after game 12, tends to disappear in his career. Which means in the playoffs who knows what he does.

I saw someone say they have 11 draft picks, but this is from their site. 7 picks and none of them are really that good. They have the 29th in every round and the Eagles 7ths aren't much to write home about.

I wonder if they work a sign and trade for Tee Higgins or if the Bengals finally lock him up long term. The WR pool isn't that great in FA.

Fangio specifically said he judged Baun off the tape he watched. It’s on YouTube if you would bother to look. However, this firing from the hip does you no service and diminishes your credibility.

I believe he said that the tape showed Baun had the physical traits to play LB, not that it showed he could actually do it, which he couldnt early in his career. He also admitted that him actually being able to do it was lucky.

I’ll wait and see how the Commies offseason goes before I acknowledge them as a legit threat.

Something tells me they don’t take the next step that so many others will be predicting this offseason.

Correcting QB analysis from dinosaur era morons: Stafford passed 32.3 times a game and Hurts only passed 24 times a game.

First correction: Are we counting a 7 plays before concussion game as a relevant sample? (3 runs, 4 passes)

Now Hurts is at 25.5 passes a game (in the 14 valid samples)

Do the rules allow for the QB to run the ball?

  • Hurts 150 runs (147 not counting the concussion game)
  • Stafford 30 runs

Now we get

  • Stafford 34.2 runs and passes per game
  • Hurts 35.9 runs and passes per game

Hurts is more valuable to his team than Stafford just based on usage. Too bad you have to live in 1987-present to realize this.

FWIW

  • Hurts 35.9
  • Lamar 36.1
  • Allen 36.6 (not counting his ceremonial 1-play, stat-free, start in week 17)
  • Mahomes 39.9

The idea of Hurts being a passenger in this offense is propaganda by people who are ignorant, malicious, or both.

The 2022 Eagles ran for 3040 yards and an all-time record 42 TDs in 20 games.

That's 152 yards a game. Saquon was in New York.

Every Eagle on repeat: "You can't be great without the greatness of others"

National Media "So you're saying its all Saquon?"
