I live between SF and Sacramento, and all the radio stations in both those markets slobber over the Niners.  However, there has been a healthy dose of realism in their commentary this season.  There is far from a unanimous consensus that Purdy is a legitimate NFL QB.  Their D-Line is porous, as is their O-Line.  Deebo Samuel has imploded. Brandon Ayuk is a huge question mark.  Their DBs weren’t that good and are being depleted by Free Agency.  Bottom-line, they have more holes than Swiss cheese.  However, their biggest weakness is in the trenches, and that isn’t an easy fix.

Yup....they have some really big salaries to manage and giving top dollar to Purdy is really going to cripple them and narrow their window. They will play hard and still have some top level talent. Lynch is pretty close to Roseman as GM as far as creative solutions for the cap. They should stay pretty competitive next year but there will be minimal depth....and then I expect them to fall off the cliff for a while after that.

Unless they hire Fangio Part 2.

They promoted their LB coach. Fangio he ain't, but he might be comparable to Glenn.

I'm throwing Commies to tier 1. They have 100 mil under the cap, the QB, 11 draft picks... Needle is moving in the right direction for them, unfortunately.

Not this year, but in 2026 the Commanders will be a threat.  And that is if Daniels stays healthy and continues to develop (the former is a question, the latter I can see).  It won’t happen in 2025.  His first year success was a bit of an anomaly.  Way too many ones score/last second wins to be taken too seriously.

I think the media, and therefore some of the fan base, have fallen in love with Daniels and the Commanders a little bit too quickly… Because that is what they do…

Rank top 5 NFC teams (pre free agency) you think are the biggest threat to the Eagles in 2025.

1. Lions - still a lot of talent even with decimated coaching staff.

2. Packers - 2024 ended weirdly for them, I think they'll be back and take a step up from 2024.

3. Rams - Their defensive front is good and as long as they keep Stafford they'll be dangerous on offense. I was impressed by how a dome team didn't fold on the road in awful weather conditions.

4. Bucs - they had a lot of injuries and in 2024 went into a rut. If they hadn't, they'd likely have been a higher seed and won that division comfortably. Bowles always gives Hurts fits.

Exclusions:

Vikings - I can't see them sustaining what they did in 2024. They are not a 14 win team. Due for a regression year.

Commies - same with them. Had a lot of luck in 2024. Due for a regression next season.

49ers - don't think them bouncing back is out of the realm of possibility, but this feels like a transition offseason for them where they start turning some of the roster over and then they're gonna pay Purdy a lot of money. Deebo will be gone, maybe Kittle. Greenlaw and some other key defenders will be gone.

Cowboys -  lol.

Packers are going nowhere with Love at QB…they are essentially Dallas at this point.  Overpaying for a mediocre at best QB.

That was an excellent loss.

Embiid on the bench in the 4th quarter. Maxey looking like he is having fun again.

And a buzzer beating tip in for the Nets to seal the deal.

Send a thank you card to Nic Claxton if the 6ers end up with Cooper Flagg

Sole possession of 6th worst with 5th in sight!  Time to capture the Flagg!!!

Wonder where he ends up.

My guesses would be:

1) Raiders

2) Saints

3) Giants

4) Jets

Oh yeah, forgot them.  They would be right up at the top.

Judging by their record this year, they have already fallen off the cliff.

Technically the 49ers have been paying Purdy on the rookie contract of a guy selected with the last pick in the draft.  Also we've seen how the 49ers are substantially worse when Purdy doesn't play.  Packers were undefeated without Love this past season.

Technically you are right because the Purdy extension hasn’t been inked yet.  Also technically you are wrong because "have been paying” is past tense … history.

As if we trust Morey to capitalize on the pick if we tank and end up with a good one

They’re probably confused as to how the Chiefs would 3peat considering the Eagles and 9ers won the ‘23 & ‘24 SB with the gear they received

My understanding is that the Saints never used him at ILB, only at Edge.

He played ilb in his second season until he was benched due to his inability to play in space or to cover anyone.

No 1. threat next season...49ers...they will go all in as next SB is in the Levi stadium

One of the few teams that are close to as aggressive as the Eagles.

To me, it's...

1. Rams. They've drafted great, will likely re-sign one of the last great pure QBs left, and still have McVay. Think they're a few big moves away from being legit SB contenders.

2. 49ers. One of the most aggressive teams in the league, deep roster, great coach, were a bit snakebitten in 2024. Think if they're dumb enough to re-sign Purdy, it won't affect their 2025 much.

3. Lions. Call me a hater, but I think Campbell is overrated and reliant on a great OC to cover up Goff's limitations. Great roster and great HFA though.

4. Commanders. Even if Daniels doesn't improve - and there's reason to think even if he does it'll net out now that "DCs have film on him" - he was good enough to go all the way with in 2024. They have good coaching, an elite QB, and money to spend. Highest potential to rocket to #1.

Deep roster?  Both trenches are thin as tissue paper.  Their projected starter at Center couldn’t even make the Eagles 53 man roster last August.

Did I say they have no holes? They have a 20ish at least player on every unit. There’s a draft and FA to fill holes. They re-signed Saleh, likely to get more out of what he has on defense. Weird you and others are underrating them - recency bias, I guess.

Idk tend to think they roll with McCarthy or they just bring back Darnold. Frankly I’d see what they have in McCarthy
