Especially considering Nakobe is going to start the year on IR and may never return to form with that injury. Howie has little choice but to re-sign Baun at this point.

If Dean was healthy, do you think Burks would be back?

Burks playing is going to have a big impact on the Baun decision IMO. They could very well be telling themselves that Burks/Trotter/BVS/rookie or FA is good enough to hold down the fort.

Back to looking at DT prospects, Omar Norman-Lott is another DL player that should fall in a stacked class. Slightly undersized for the position but has an insane first step and burst. Probably still there in late RD2 and possibly through RD3.

Another DL I love is Ty Robinson from Nebraska. 6-5 295, but the downside is he's 24.

I think they'll likely put Burks 4 mil or so to Baun and just go with Trotter & BVS/rookie until Dean is back.  Or they'll wait out the market for a 2mil vet

I'm very curious to see what the market for Baun and Becton will actually be (if they get to the open market), or where we get a deal done with them. You'd have to think there would be some wariness in paying both of them based on only 1 year, and asking if they were aided by the talent around them and/or coaching. I honestly think Baun will come in around $10mm AAV given his age, only one good year, and fear that he is scheme dependent. Becton, on the other hand, may get interest as people see the talent that made him a top pick and basically conclude no one plays well for the Jets.

They were basically the adult version of McNabb and TO. Neither of those guys were mature enough to set aside their issues for the betterment of the team back then. AJ did it for a run-first team buying into it being Saquon’s offense and embraced the dirty work of blocking. And Hurts altered his game to play more safe and conservative until flipping the switch in the Super Bowl. That’s what it’s all about.

Thoughts on Sanders?  I think he could be a target of ours

Would drool for Baun at $10M. Maybe that was his price in the middle of the season. He will have multiple bidders and a lot of money out there for teams to overspend. I'd say a hometown deal is 3/39 but it could escalate to 3/45. Will see. Would drool for Becton at about $10M. I think that one has more of a chance than Baun. Maybe can load contracts with easy enough incentives so can count towards next year's cap space and beyond. Don't know how creative Howie can get here. Very challenging.

Just go back to the old rule: The NFL previously prohibited offensive players from pushing or pulling a runner with the ball, but the rule changed in 2005

I think even without the push from behind the eagles woud still have pretty high rate of success doing the same qb sneak without the push from behind

Wonder where he ends up.

My guesses would be:

1) Raiders

2) Saints

3) Giants

4) Jets

Vikings should try to get Stafford.  Darnold looked like a deer in headlights towards the end of the season.

I'm probably getting annoying with this one, but why does everyone seem to be excluding Oren Burks from their FA lists? I think he's a big piece to the puzzle when figuring out how dollars are spent. He is NOT Zack Baun, but he put up numbers in 5 games better than any LB the Eagles had since TJ Edwards.

Thinking he's part of the the fall back plan if can't sign Baun. He's getting a nice raise. Hate to say it, but could be Trotter, Burks and a rookie to start season if no Baun and then wait for Dean. Very realistic. The alternate plan could be to just work on the margins with Burks, Rodgers and rework Sweat because of cap hit and maybe Becton. Most bang for the buck in other words.

Could end up with Plan B here easily. Howie is just gonna have to roll with the punches depending on the market, just like in 2023 when he didn't get CJG, K.White, Epps and Edwards because they were overpriced and then pivoted to extend Slay and Bradberry and do some smaller signings. But this time we are being threatened with more severe losses IMO. There's gonna be some pain here that's for sure.

Burks may be back. Very good #3 LB, won't break the bank.

If Baun's price tag is too much, I'd be all in on Burks and maybe even a guy like Ernest Jones. He's got some question marks, but maybe the Eagles locker room and leadership could wake him up.

For all those who have responded to my question about the QB throwing etc thank you. I knew there was a rule around being limited so thank you for clarifying that it relates to team organised things.

That's pretty cool you're in the video.  Congrats.

I would only be interested in Burks as a backup MAYBE a bridge guy until Dean gets healthy. He played well in the playoffs but I don't think I would want to rely on him as a starter all season and definitely not THE guy if Baun somehow walks.

What does "AJ Brown and he and Jalen Hurts" mean?  Does AJ use pronouns?

On another note, I wonder if they had some issues last year that might have contributed to the collapse.

Yes they would but I didn't like them trying it from 3rd or 4th and 2.

Should only be used for 1 yard or less.

That would be the intent. I don't want him to be the guy, but I think he's more than capable of holding down the fort until Dean is healthy, if he is every healthy.

Side note...has there been any clarification on Isaiah Rodgers being an UFA or RFA? That goes a long way. Consider the source, but ESP tweeted about him and it sounded like he thinks he's still on the roster as a RFA.

He's a backup.  He was a backup here in 2024.  He was a backup in 2023 with the 49ers, and he got abused by Kelce.  He's a backup.  That's all he is, but we desperately need a backup until Dean is back.

OTC finally updated their website and now says he's a UFA. I think everyone was just using them as the source without thinking about it

Love him. Most mocks have had him in the second round, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we take him at 32 or with a slight trade down.

That confirms him as a UFA.
