The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

That would be the intent. I don't want him to be the guy, but I think he's more than capable of holding down the fort until Dean is healthy, if he is every healthy.

Side note...has there been any clarification on Isaiah Rodgers being an UFA or RFA? That goes a long way. Consider the source, but ESP tweeted about him and it sounded like he thinks he's still on the roster as a RFA.

You got me. True. Not sure what I was thinking ignoring such glaring signs.

All time loser energy.  "No skill involved", yet no team can run in close to as well as the Eagles. How about you use some of your skill to not let the Eagles get into 3rd and 4th and short.

6 foot 6 and 342 pounds.  Sounds like we're trading Jordan Davis

Maybe another UGA defender on our radar

Waging war against the team that just pushed your ish in twice last season is quite the strategy.

Because we met with a player at the combine?

If you trade you clear

J.Davis-5.4M

PIckett-2.6M

Huff-(post June 1 Designation)-4.3M

Save about 12.5M right there.

And gain draft picks. I'm signing up for that if it keeps me Williams, Becton & Baun. All of those guys are clear backups right now. Can totally see it.

Yea, I'm with this. Jordan Davis and his 13 snaps per game is easier to replace than Milton Williams and the havoc he creates. They can find another big body to eat 13 snaps. Not taking away from Jordan Davis and his impact on the run game, I just think they can replicate that with another player.

This is just how I think the Eagles will approach things, not what I want in particular. I see a lot of arguments about Williams play being elevated by Carter and the same could be said about Baun. His play was elevated by Fangio's defense. We all saw Oren Burks come in and play at a very high level as well. I've posted his stats over the last 5 games of the season and he was good.

-The Eagles NEVER invest in LB.

-The Eagles ALWAYS invest in OL/DL

-Howie's homegrown talent doesn't get out of the building very often.

Williams will be their big $ spent. Burks will get a fairly significant pay raise to stay and hold down the fort until Dean/Trotter is ready to rock. They drafted Steen to be a starter, now's his chance.

Becton, Sweat and Baun walk.

I think Fangio will have a big say in the team keeping Baun.  I think they have a price for him but I do think the added cap space will give them some flexibility.  I also think losing Baun creates a roster hole in a way that losing Becton and Williams does not.  They have Davis and Ojomo to absorb Williams snaps.  Both of those players are also homegrown and one represents a more significant investment than Williams.  To some extent, Sweat can be replaced by Smith and Hunt but losing him does create a depth issue.  Because of Dean's injury, there is no depth at LB.  That means if they don't sign Baun, they will have to add another player through free agency and invest draft picks.

It won’t. Williams is going to get close to double those savings.

Or they think Oren Burks is capable at 1/4 of the price, although not at the same level Baun.

It can work if they all don't go too crazy. According to Thomas Peterson, they will have roughly $36M total. Add the trades, you are near $50M. It's not a flush $50M in 2025. It will be spread out with cap hits being larger in 2026 and so on. I keep saying if Howie wants to keep those 3 he could and pretty much not jeopardize much.

Eagles are projected around 21 mil cap space. Top cap saving moves: - Extend Jurgens: 3.2 mil - Extend/restructure Goedert: 4.3 mil - Bradberry post juni cut: 4.7 mil - Restructure Lane: 3 mil Would bring cap to $36M.

Meanwhile I’m still curious about QB coach.  You’d think they’d want someone for the combine tho not a big deal for them they still like to interview QBs

They are not trading Jordan Davis.

Lurie doing the right thing this time and not forcing his personal politics on the rest of the team.  Lot of fake news surrounding this was floating around the past 24 hours.

Or maybe they are looking at a heavy set with Davis and Jackson in the middle with Carter and someone else on the end.

I'm probably getting annoying with this one, but why does everyone seem to be excluding Oren Burks from their FA lists? I think he's a big piece to the puzzle when figuring out how dollars are spent. He is NOT Zack Baun, but he put up numbers in 5 games better than any LB the Eagles had since TJ Edwards.

I think this is just a Vic Fangio factor.  It’s not just Zach Baun , it’s Nakobe Dean, and it’s even Oren Burks.

Whether it’s scheme, the line in front of them, or development under Vic’s staff, LBs thrived this year.  I believe that Vic Fangio just knows how to get the most out of his LBs.

This is also the reason why I think the evaluations on who they may draft at the position may change in the future… They have not been good at it in the past, but I think that changes in the future as long as Vic is here and involved in that process.

Burks has not been discussed as much because he’s a back up option plan.

I think it’s weird New Orleans hasn’t announced Nussmeier yet.

Maybe their plan is just to promote Jason Michael from TE’s to QB. He’s a Sirianni guy and has been a QB coach in the past.

Agreed. That was dumb last time. Malcom Jenkins had too much influence on that team. Respect is back.
