Yea, I'm with this. Jordan Davis and his 13 snaps per game is easier to replace than Milton Williams and the havoc he creates. They can find another big body to eat 13 snaps. Not taking away from Jordan Davis and his impact on the run game, I just think they can replicate that with another player.

Davis had 388 Defensive snaps in 17 games.  More than 21 snaps per game, not 13 snaps per game.  Plus he had 145 Special Teams snaps, another 8 snaps a game.

Or maybe they are looking at a heavy set with Davis and Jackson in the middle with Carter and someone else on the end.

Jamoree Caldwell from Oregon is another heavy set possibility in the Draft.

They aren’t getting Campbell for the simple fact that it’s February and people are mocking him to them at 32. There’s no way that can turn out to be right

I haven't seen that anywhere. Jihaad can easily move to pure edge like they did with Nolan if you wanted, but he brings so much to the table not sure why Vic would put him a box like that. DJ has him going at 29 to the Commies but also as his 12th ranked player overall. Ahead of guys like Williams, Green, Stewart, Pearce, Nolan, Alexander, Pearce, Scourton.

When the games mattered most in the playoffs, he was 13, 17, 13 and then 14 I believe in the SB. The defense was totally different after the bye and his snaps fluctuated a lot. I'm guessing based on the opponent. Still, not a huge amount of snaps for him.

Jalyx Hunt is great.  He also went into depth about his pass rush plan against Thuney.

He will be a star in this defense.

It's always blown out of proportion, but to me the common sense answer is to accept the invite and whoever wants to go can go and whoever doesn't is fine to deny it. That's my $0.02 at least.

I’ll add my two cents to your two.  Good logic.

All time loser energy.  "No skill involved", yet no team can run in close to as well as the Eagles. How about you use some of your skill to not let the Eagles get into 3rd and 4th and short.

That argument is stupid. The skill is in linemen blocking and the QB sneaking low like in a regular QB sneak. The push isn't even the biggest part of it. You see times where the "pushers" are barely doing anything because the line and Hurts move so fast at the snap.

The Eagles need to put together a highlight reel of RBs and WRs being pushed to a 1st down or TD, and the times other QBs have done a push type play before Hurts was even in the league.

Like when Brady was praised for it:

He's one of the most tradeable players. His value will probably never be higher than it is now and I can't see the Eagles paying market value for a DT who plays 13-15 snaps per game. It just doesn't make sense. I can't even think of who you'd compare him to he plays that little.

These are all of the current DT contracts above Jordan Davis right now. He's not going to sign a contract for less than his rookie deal. Who on this list can you compare JD to? I look at Christian Barmore, but his lowest snap count is still higher than Jordan Davis's highest snap count.

JD has played 26%, 45% and 37% of the snaps in his first 3 years. He's a part time player that was acquired by trading 4 draft picks. If we're being realistic, based on performance, he should be getting Bilal Nichols type of money and even that's a stretch. Nichols lowest snap count, as a 5th rounder, was 36% his rookie year. Since then he's averaged 57% of the snaps. Do you think JD would sign a 3-year $21 million extension?

Linval Joseph played 24% of the snaps for Dallas this year and had 2 sacks on a 1-year $2.5 million contract. They could trade JD and replace him with a veteran to eat those snaps.

You are focusing on snap quantity and ignoring the importance of those snaps (snap quality). The snaps Davis takes are the ones where the opposition is trying to establish a multi-dimensional game plan so that the Eagles are having to do a lot of guessing in their Defensive Scheme.  Davis being the centerpiece of taking away (denying/throttleing) the run game, and forcing the opponent to be one dimensional plays into the hands (plays to the strengths) of Fangio’s lite box Scheme.

OK so the argument continues.

If LB thrive because of Fangio, why overpay for a LB when it's assumed they might be able to find a LB to play his best in this defense?

It's the same argument for those saying Milton Williams is only thriving because he plays next to Jalen Carter.

Who's benefiting more/ Baun because of Fangio or Williams because of Carter?

I want both back because both were difference makers and make game changing plays. You don't just find that with every player you bring in.

The difference is that unlike Carter, Fangio doesn’t go out on the field and take snaps.  Further, I would say that Fangio’s light box Scheme actually puts more responsibility on the LBs shoulders rather than less.  His LBs truly have to be masters of both pass coverage and run support … which is why I like Jihaad Campbell so much in their Defensive Scheme Draft.

I believe it’s a requirement if you want to host a Super Bowl unless if you’re in a warm climate. Lurie talked about this for Philly and wanting to host big events, but that’d require a dome.

MetLife had a Super Bowl. Philly had a WrestleMania last year. It’s definitely a part of the consideration but not a requirement.

I think the biggest thing going against a Philly SB is location in the city more than anything.

I think Jihaad is unicorn like. Can play off the LB at a very high level, also has a very high ceiling at rushing the passer. Think he's the better prospect when Nolan came out whom we selected at 31. If they want to strictly move him to the edge then he comes into play for us in round 1, but he also brings the other elements. I can't even imagine what Vic could do with both Baun & Jihaad. I'd absolutely love the selection at 32 or even with a slight trade up to land him.

He is the top player on my Board. I second your statement, "I can’t even imagine what Vic could do with both Baun & Jihaad”

Given that New York State shares a 445 mile border with Ontario and Quebec, I submit proposal that the N.Y. Giants leave the NFL and joint the CFL. Maybe they'll win more than 3 games a season. 🙂

Mania was in April, which is warmer. I think the MetLife thing was a one and done by the NFL. Too risky hosting an outdoor event in February in the northeast. They got lucky that the weather wasn't terrible in NJ for that Super Bowl.

If he signs all 3... and doesn't lose Jurgens, Carter, Q or DeJean in the process... I will be stunned, but will absolutely praise Howie for it.  And I will most definitely not pretend that this was a slam dunk.   WANTING all 3 back is absolutely a no-brainer.   Being able to actually make it happen?   That seems like wizardry.

That's Matt Milano level pay.   I'd say that seems about right, and maybe a little low.  There's no way he resets the level, but I see anything between $15M-$18M per year as the likely target space.
